I blinked a few times, as I then turned my head over to the dragon that had just woken me up. I wondered if they had meant to wake me up, or if it was another dragon. I felt so tired, and so worn out from the day before, that I just wanted to lay my head down, and sleep through another few days.
I closed my eyes, as I just put all of it off and just tried my best to fall back to sleep. More than likely, they were probably talking to someone else. I did not need to worry about it... I then began to fall into some comfortable deep sleep.
Just as I fell into it however, a felt a hard nudge on my left side, also the side that had taken the worst of the hit from last night. I felt searing pain fly out of my body, as I instantly lifted my head up, and snarled at the dragon that had just done it to me.
The dragon did not look phased one bit at all though. I then managed to calm myself down, as I realized who the dragon was, that had in fact woken me up from some good sleep. I lowered my head to the ground, as I felt a bit embarrassed when I saw that it was my mentor Socra.
She had her eyes squinted at me for a few moments, and it seemed that she might be a bit mad at me. I was not sure what to say, as I had been quite a bit upset that I had been woken up, though I did not want to fully blame her, as I knew that she was just doing her job to mentor me.
She was not the only dragon that woke up a trainee from their sleep, as most of the time, I knew that the mentor was ready to get on with their day. I did not know how older dragons could deal with not getting hardly any sleep. I shook my head though, as I tried not to think too deep on that, as I lifted my head up, and began to speak to Socra.
"I am sorry, I am just so tired, I cant help it." I said to her. She looked at me for just a bit longer, as I saw that she still had her eyes squinted at me. I was not sure what else to say, that might make her feel a bit better, as that was the truth.
She sat there for just a bit longer, just staring me down, as I then saw a grin begin to appear on her face. I looked back up at her, a bit confused at to what it was that seemed to funny to her, or what was making her happy none the less.
The grin then seemed to disappear, as I then saw that she was beginning to have a more serious look on her face. She then nodded back to me after quite a bit more time, and then I listened to what it was that she had to say to me, as she finally decided to speak.
"You sounded like a wolf back there Jangra..." She began to say to me. I looked at her for a bit longer, as I squinted my eyes at her this time. Was that really all she had to say to me? I shook my head as I listened to her as she continued to talk. "Sorry for having to wake you up... I know that you are tired, but me and your father need you right now."
I looked at her for just a bit longer, and then I sighed. It all came back to me at the same time, as I had remembered all that had happened just last night. I shivered, as I nodded back to Socra anyways. I still was not ready to go back to calling him my father, after what he had pulled on me last night.
I could tell that he had changed a bit, now that he had finally gotten to see the face of his long deceased son. I still did not trust him though, as he had not been there for any of us until now. I also was hurt, by a lot of the words that he had said to me as well.
No one else seemed to notice it, nor did they seem phased by it at all. It was almost as if they had just brushed it off, as though it were some big joke. But it hurt my quite a bit, as every word that he had said to me, had seemed to stab deeper and deeper into my soul.
It was the words that had hurt me more than the fact that he had tried to kill me. I shook my head though, as I figured that I did not need to worry about that at the moment. I would let my fathers choices over the next few days do the talking for him.
I saw that Socra was looking right at me, but this time, unlike most of the other times, she was just letting me think through my head. As I could tell as well, she seemed to be doing the same thing. Maybe she was not ready to trust my father as a leader yet either.
I tried my best not to think of it any more. At this point, it was up to my father now... All of this, if we were to win the war, it was because of him. It was always like that though, I was just now beginning to realize that though.
I turned my head, and my eyes over to Socra completely however, as I saw that she had noticed it as well. She looked at me, locking eyes with me for a few moments, until she nodded for me to go ahead and speak what it was that was racing through my mind. I nodded back to her, thanking her, and then I began to speak.
"How about we talk in a more private place, we are going to go over to the cave right? I assume that's why you woke me up right?" I asked her. She sat there for just a few moments, until she then shook her head at me, which came as a bit of a surprise.
I titled my head a bit at her, as I was not sure as to what it was that she might be getting at. She sat there for just a few moments, as she then looked around, to make sure that no one was listening to us, at least that is what I had to assume. Eventually, she then turned her head back over to me, and then she began to speak.
"Well... I woke you up, because I wanted you to get ready, as Himla is about to call a meeting, and I want you on the cliff. We will talk to about all of what needs to be said, in private, after that is done with..." She said to me. I looked at her for just a few moments, and then I nodded.
I was a bit interested in what it was that she might have meant by that in the first place. Did she mean that she was going to meet up with me privately, or did she mean that she was going to have my father in on it? I had to only assume that just like the rest of the tribe, she really was not ready to trust my father yet.
I shook my head though, as she then turned her head away from me, as she nodded for me to follow her out of the main cave. I suppose that I would find out about that a little bit later. Right now my primary focus needed to be on this meeting.
This was the real test for my father, I knew he was a master mind at making a plan for war. That was the main reason that we had some how managed to win the last war. Would he let the past get in the way of that though? I knew he was once best friends with the leader of the black dragons, Plyma.
I also knew that Yikla was the daughter of Plyma. I knew that Plyma had betrayed my father a long time ago as well. I squinted my eyes, more at myself, as I remembered that I was going to meet up with her again soon. I was still not sure if I was really ready to trust her.
She had been the reason that my brother had been killed... Sure, she was right... If she had not warned us about the attack, we more than likely would have all died, with maybe a few survivors that would run away, but still, it hurt me, because I knew that my brother was one of the first responders.
I closed my eyes, as I just kept on following Socra, through her footsteps. I tried my best to clear all of it out of my head, and to just get on with the real problem that was at stake right now. I noticed that we had gotten out of the cave, not because of the wind, like the last place that we had lived at, but more because I saw a bit more of a light source outside.
I missed living at our old tribal grounds, and there was not a thing I would not do to get it back. It hurt me to even think about it, as I shook my head again, as the reason I had closed my head in the first place, was to get my mind off of all of those thoughts.
I then noticed that Socra had stopped, and I opened my eyes to look around, and see what was going on around me at the moment. I then realized the reason that we had stopped, as I saw the tall cliff that was in front of me.
I saw the dragon that was in front of me, at the top of the cliff as well. He had a bit of a smile on his face too, as I saw that he was looking right at me. I looked away, not wanting to look my father in the eyes right now, after what he had done to me last night.
I knew that it probably hurt him, to see me act that way, but it was his own fault for it, and he did not even deserve my forgiveness. I was not sure that I could even do it any ways. If I did, I am sure that it would be able to tell that it was not true.
I shook my head once again, as I felt Socra nudge me again as well, as I then saw her fly up on to the top of the cliff. I knew why she had nudged me as well, as I then followed her up to the top of the cliff too. I flew up in the air just as she had.
I felt a bit of a breeze, but I knew that it was only because I was flying, as I then landed with Socra and Himla at the top of the cliff. My father nodded to me once I was up. He then began to step forward, as I turned my head around to see who all was in the clearing.
I saw that there were a few dragons that were around the clearing, as it was clear that they knew what was going on too. I knew that my father had in fact told them to be ready for the fact that there were going to be a lot of meeting coming up very soon.
I looked around, but I did not see any dragons that I knew all that well. I did spot Nink though, as he was a cave dragon that had stepped up to the whole tribe, and had spoken last night. It was a bit of a surprise to me that he had done it as well.
He was quite a bit of a brave dragon for doing so, as I knew that a lot of dragons would be scared to be in the spot light to the whole tribe like that. Much less for a cave cave dragon to be that way as well. I looked at the dragon, and I nodded to him.
He looked a bit surprised that I had directly nodded to him as well, as I saw a bit of a smile light up on the face of little Nink. It would not surprise me either, if he was one of the few cave dragons that had stood up to fight against the black dragons.
Not that he would have done all that much in the first place, but he might have at least slowed them down, and given the other tribes that had come in to help us, some more time. It was the thought that really mattered, as I was quite proud of a dragon like him.
I wished that more dragons were like him, we had some hunter dragons that were a bit of some cowards, and I knew that for a fact. I remember walking back to camp, in the cold rain, with my brothers body in the arms of my father, seeing many of them poking their heads out of the cave, to see what was going on, and what had happened.
I shook my head though, as I turned my head away from Nink, and back over to my father, as I had seen that he had stepped up to the top of the cliff, for the first time in quite a while, and begin to speak to the entire tribe, or at least the ones that were here.
"Every dragon, come to the cliff for a meeting! This is very important, and no one shall miss out... I will need every dragon in the tribes help!" He yelled loudly for all of the dragons in the tribe, that might be still asleep in the cave, or outside of the territory to hear.
I nodded to my father, as I saw some happy, and some excited looks on the faces of a lot of dragons, to my surprise as well, as they were waiting for what it was that my father had to say to the whole tribe. I nodded to my father, as he then nodded back to me.
I then stayed still, and just looked at the clearing, as I saw it begin to fill up with a lot of dragons that were in the cave, or might have been out of the camp. I saw a lot of unhappy faces on the dragons that had been asleep, as I did not blame them.
I had felt the same way when I had first woken up, from some good sleep as well. I shook my head, as I just waited to see some familiar faces, and for the clearing to get fully filled up. It did not take long either, as I was sure that there were not many dragons that had gone too far out of camp.
I stared at the clearing for a bit, as it did not scare me to see the faces of so many dragons looking up at me. Well at my father mainly... But after last night, in the fight that I had gotten in with my father, it had seemed as though there had been a change in me.
I was not sure if that were for the better, or for the worse quite yet. I had to assume for the better, based on the fact that I was no longer scared to see the faces of so many dragons looking up at us. I sat there for a bit, as I saw a few more dragons come in, and then I smiled to myself.
It was not just the fact that I had felt a bit more physically strong after last night, but now it almost seemed as though I was mentally strong as well. It was important for a leader to be both as well. It was mainly the fact that a leader needing to be strong mentally though.
There was not much of a difference that one dragon could make, versus a thousand other dragons in a fight. I would take the side of a thousand dragons in that fight any day. I closed my eyes, as I knew that was not what my mind needed to be on right now.
It was good at least, that I was not thinking of so much depressing stuff I suppose, but I needed my mind to be focused on what was going on around me. I opened my eyes at the same time as well, as I heard my fathers voice, as he spoke up once again, to address the whole tribe.
"I have spoken to all of the warrior dragons, and we have all agreed that we will split you into groups of 30, and we will teach all of you how to fight. I need the hunters to take turns hunting, at least once every 3 days, to provide food for the tribe..." My father said to the whole tribe.
I looked around, to see the reactions of most of the dragons. I saw that in fact, to my surprise, a lot of them were happy, and a lot of them were nodding in agreement. That was not what I thought the case would be, as I would have thought that they would be angry, and no matter what he said, they would not be happy.
But it seemed as though many of them understood what was going on right now, and they knew that the war was something that was in fact very serious. I looked around, a bit happy to see so many dragons agree with my father on this.
I then shook my head, as I had nearly forgotten that I was angry at my father. I was not sure why I was making it so easy for me to forgive him. I thought back on seeing my brother... Maybe that is what he would have wanted, maybe I needed to be like that...
I shook my head once again, as I saw a lot of the tribe had calmed down. But once I had seen that as well, I did see that there in fact were a lot of dragons that were not happy at what he had just said to them. I turned my head over to one in particular, as he began to speak up to my father.
"But that is not what I was ever trained to do... I am not supposed to be a warrior dragon!" She said loudly to my father. I expected the dragon that had just spoken, to be a cave dragon, based off of what he had just said, but when I looked at her, I saw that it was not the case at all in fact.
In fact, it seemed as though the cave dragons were the ones that were seeming to act the most brave out of all of the dragons in the tribe at the moment. I looked over at my father at the same time as well, as I could tell that he was not at all happy at what the dragon had just said.
He sat there for quite some time, as it did not surprise me that a lot of dragons were in fact talking, and I saw a lot of them nodding in agreement as to what she had just said. If I had to take my best guess, I would say that they were only doing that, because they were afraid.
I am sure that a lot of those dragons, were the same dragons that had hid in the cave when the attack had come. I shook my head, as I did not need to worry about that. I then turned my head over to my father, as I saw he was waiting for the tribe to be quiet. Once they were as well, he then began to speak again.
"You think that 70 warrior dragons can fight off 100,000? We need all the help that we can get... If you don't want to be trained, than leave the tribe! That goes for all of you! I need to know that we are in this together! If you don't want to be... Then leave now..." He said to all of them. No one said a word back to him, and to my surprise no one ran off either. He nodded and then kept on speaking. "This will start tomorrow morning, so enjoy your last day, and get some rest..."
The tribe was quiet for just a bit, that was until they saw him hop off of the cliff, stating that he had said all that he had felt like he had needed to say. That was when the tribe erupted into chaos. It began to get a bit crazy, and I tried my best to drown it all out, as I whispered to myself a bit quietly.
"And so... It begins..."
