Jack POV
"Good morning sleepy head!", I say as I see Cindy starting to wake up. "I'm still a little sleepy no need to shout", she says a little grumpy. "It's bathday", I announce. "Oh how could I forget?!", she exclaims jumping up now suddenly wide awake. I laugh at her excitement. We can't wash much because cleanliness attracts zombies easily. Once a week we do go to clean ourselves only for health and hygiene. But its safer to stay unwashed. "I'll get my towel, soap and the bucket", she announces with her sudden energy and rushes to get her things. As I do the same I can't help but find it funny how a bath could get her so excited. But then again we get so used to our everyday luxury we don't know at some point they might be limited.
*after 4min of getting our bathing stuff*
We now walk to the river where we go to wash, hand in hand with our free hands. Our guns are safely tugged into their hilts, since we can't afford to go anywhere without it.
Cindy POV
Finally we get to clean a little. I understand we need to be unwashed for safety from zombies but it feels nice to be clean once in a while. As we start to near the river I let go of Jack's hand and start running towards it. He starts running as well quickly gaining speed and ends up right behind me. This is possibly going to turn into a tradition ,I guess. Distracted by that thought for a small moment he almost passed me. But within seconds I reach the river first. "Ha I beat you, again!", I shout. "Well its not fair, you had a head start", he says pouting. "It's not my fault you're so slow", I say sticking my tongue out at him. He just smiles and turns around. As I turn around I fill my bucket with water and then take my shirt off. Then I take the rest of my clothes off. I keep my back turned as I know he's doing the same.
Jack POV
After I filled my bucket with water I start taking my clothes off. But I keep my back turned. We respect each other and that is why we don't look at each other while bathing. When we started dating she told me that she has no interest in my body or in sleeping with me. I was happy when she told me this because I felt and feel the exact same way. Adding some soap to my wash cloth I then wash my body and my hair.
*15 min later*
As I finish rinsing off I grab my towel and start drying. Then I put the towel around my waist so I can grab my clothes.
Cindy POV
I turn as I see Jack is grabbing his clothes with his towel on. Towel also still on me I grab my clothes as well. I put on the fresh pair of clothes that I brought.
*5 min later*
Normal POV
Now both are dressed and they start to gather their stuff. Suddenly..... from the side a zombie rushes towards Cindy, being the closest one to the trees. She bends to reach for her gun. Jack dives for his dirty clothes to get a hold of his gun. In the process of her bending down she doesnt hold down her elbow. The zombie grabs her arms and pulls her towards him. He bites her directly on the elbow leaving her to screech from the sudden action. Jack gets his gun and shoots the zombie straight through the head.
Jack POV
"Cindy are you okay?", I ask as I see her bent in half holding her left arm. Her breathing is very rushed.
"I'm fine", she hisses. It sounds like she's in pain. Did it bite her? "Did it...?", I start to ask but didn't finish when she lifted her arm so I could see. "Oh god... it did", I say. "Jack? I don't want to be one if them... I don't want to turn...", Cindy exclaims as tears start falling from her eyes. "I know you don't", I say comfortingly as I near her so I can give her a hug. "Don't come close... I don't want to infect you too", she says now crying quite visibly. "I don't care if I get infected", I say as I sit down and pull her into a hug. "Jack...?", she asks. "Yeah Cindy?", I reply as I stroke through her hair. "If I turn fully... I need you... to... I need you to...", she says through the tears. "I'll do anything you ask", I say reassuringly. "Jack if I turn fully I need you to kill me"
