Chapter 34 - A Sudden Quest

[Fumi's POV]

"Sheesh, I know he is loyal to me but he can't resist the other girl members of the club. He swoons all over them, he can't reject their offers!"

Fumi rushed over her bag to get some stuff,

"Agh, why do I have to go through all this, I get so annoyed although I know Kenji is loyal and honest,..."

A lucky charm bag falls off her bag,

"Huh, is this, the lucky charm he gave to me." I wonder what's inside of the bag, he even told me to open it when the time comes.

I slowly opened it, a ring falls off the bag.

"Huh, is this a ring? Could it be a proposal? Huh?!"

I was surprised by the bag's contents

"No way, it's impossible we're too young to get married, HAHAHA jeez, Kenji and his jokes, seriously he sucks at it."

Then a thought came to my mind, what if he was really serious, what if this is a promise ring?

Lunchtime,

"Well, its time to decide who's going to buy our food in the market, we already have reserved a barbeque set for tonight," Yasuyuki called us out.

"I guess Fumi and I could go since I know how to find ingredients better and she knows the place well., also we need you, two boys, to carry it. Right, Fumi?" Kozue suggested we should be the one going.

"Yeah, Kozue is right, please wait for us in our place," I replied in agreement.

"Hanako, please take care of Kanna for me while I'm out." Kenji leaves Kanna in Hanako's care, what if I wasn't going, will he leave her to me?

Now to think of it, ever since I met him at the school, I've always been with him. Well, I'm the reason for all of it then things ended up here and we are dating, I'm happy.

"Oy, Fumi, are you okay? You're spaced out?" Kozue looking at me with a concerned face.

"Ah, I'm sorry I must be tired from all the things that happened." I smiled uncertainly,

"Oh, you should've said it, then we can make you rest and leave the shopping to us," Kozue replied with a feeling of guilt.

"No, I'm fine...I'd better go with you, I won't be feeling any better if you got lost halfway." I looked at Kenji in front of me, he was talking to Yasu.

"Hey, I know you are not okay, we have been together this long not to know about your feelings." Kozue stopped me from walking.

"Eh, what are you suggesting?"

"I know that you are concerned for your relationship with Kenji."

"How'd you know about that?"

"You're too easy to read, Fumi. If you are concerned let me tell you this, I have already given up on him, a long time now. He is honest with you, he totally is crazy for you. That's what I saw."

"Thank you, Kozue. It's just that he is too friendly with everyone, he can't say no to everyone's request."

"But do you really think he wants it? You know Kenji is a guy who cares for others more than himself. He put others first before him, so don't worry. You are the most important in this group for him, so you got to support him."

"You're right, I shouldn't be doubting his love for me."

We arrived at the market,

"Okay, we'll split up from you guys, don't wander off too far."

I went inside the market with Kozue

[Kenji and Yasuyuki's POV]

"Oy, Kenji look at that street food, want to taste it?"

"Where, sure let's give it a try."

"Excuse me, what is this food called?" Yasuyuki is good a communicating with foreigners so I let him do it.

"Ah, good after Sir, this is called 'Kwek-Kwek', this one is 'calamari', 'fishball', and 'squid ball'. Only for two pesos for a piece." The vendor replied

"Whoa, so cheap! Let me try one." Yasuyuki grabs a stick and punched it through the Kwek-Kwek. "Oh, it's delicious, Kenji come get one."

"No, but I have an idea. Do you want to have a contest?" A crazy smile can be seen on my face.

"Eh, what is it?"

"To see who can eat the most of this food."

"Ho, Kenji you dare challenge me? I'll take you on that one."

All the crowd stopped to watch our contest,

"Sir, are you ready to cook as many as you can?"

"I'll be glad, should I start cooking?" The vendor restarts the flames and puts a smile on his face.

"Yes, on three counts." I grab a stick.

"On, three!" Yasu grabs a new stick.

"Three"

"Two"

"One"

We started the contest, our sticks continue to go back and forth from the tray to our mouth, nonstop.

"Here sir, water for safety precaution." The vendor handed us a bottle of water.

"Thank you! I grab the bottled water and continue eating.

"Ho! Kenji how many have you already eaten?"

"I lost count, maybe twenty-five?"

"I got thirty I think"

"That's cheating, you don't know your count."

The vendor laughs, "No, you are tied at eighteen pieces."

"What, I swear I'm past twenty, okay continue!" I continued to grab food.

Then the crowd went cheering on me, encouraging me to eat more.

We went on with our eating contest while waiting for the girls!

[Kozue and Fumi's POV]

Loud roaring cheers can be heard outside the market,

"Eh, is there something happening?" I wonder what is going on then I heard.

"Oy, Oy, there are two Japanese boys having a contest at Mr. Jonathan's 'Kwek-Kwek' stand." A market vendor rushed to call others to watch.

"Fumi, did he just said two Japanese boys?" Kozue asked me for confirmation.

"Yeah, let's go! What are they doing!" We run with haste to see what is going on.

We saw Kenji and Yasuyuki having a eat all you can contest on this certain street food vendor's stand.

"Hey, you two what are you doing!"

They both simultaneously look at me with their mouths stuffed,

"Iamgoingtowinthis" Kenji muttered but it wasn't intelligible.

"Noyouarenotiam" same goes with Yasuyuki.

Kozue started to grab her phone and recorded a video of them.

"Fumi, move I'm recording this and sent this to others."

Kozue and I laughed until they stopped.

"Are you two okay?" I rushed beside Kenji.

"Oh, my I am stuffed, I may not be able to eat barbeque tonight," Kenji whispered…

"This was your idea, you idiot." Yasuyuki can't stand up properly after too much.

The crowd gave us a round of applause, we paid the vendor extra for causing a commotion.

"See you tomorrow, vendor-sama!" Kenji waved goodbye to the vendor.

"We are sorry for the trouble!" I apologized on behalf of these two.

"Seriously, what gave you the idea to have a contest," Kozue asked them.

"I had it in a whim, a good addition to the manga," Kenji replied barely holding on.

"Sheesh, you and your wild ideas are really far from what normal people do!" I tried to calm Kenji down.

"I'm sending this to everyone." Kozue implored.

"Wait, not yet, it will be added in the manga." Kenji stopped Kozue from sending it.

"Oh, I'm sorry...I already sent it to the club members, I'll tell them to keep it a secret for now."

And that's how our trip to the market ended, as we return to the place, Kenji and Yasu headed straight to the couch and laid themselves down.

I looked at them and smiled, I opened up to Kozue, "I think there is really nothing to worry about our boyfriends right."

"Just as I told you, there is nothing to worry about. No one is going to fall in love with those two idiots."
