Chapter 21 - Escape

About an hour later, after Akiyama discovered that she was locked in her room a speaker buzzed somewhere in her room and she heard Dave's voice. "Now Akiyama I know you should be expecting something like this. Remember I hid your clothes all around the factory?" Dave laughs "yeah that was the best. Anyway you have a week to escape the house. Treat this like an escape room and use your mind." Speaker buzzed again and turned off.

Akiyama's mind immediately went haywire and she thought of a way to get out of the room. She tried opening windows but all of them were locked. She didn't expect it to be that easy but maybe. She tried to break the glass with her shoe but it would not budge. She decided to Sleep on it and as she laid down on her bed she saw the puzzle and jumped out of bed and ran towards it.

Solving the puzzle was quite easy. The photo on the puzzle was of a classic treasure map. The map had a lake in one corner of a map across the lake on the other side of the map was a poorly drawn city drawn in just brown. On the left of the lake is a small forest. On the right portion is an ocean. A path is shown going from the city to the left corner of the map next to the forest.

Akiyama wondered how this helped her get out of her room. Maybe all of the things in the map spelled something? Maybe the map was there to confuse her and the real puzzle was on the box? Maybe there is something written on the puzzle with invisible ink? Maybe there is a hidden message in the puzzle? What's on the under side of the puzzle? Is the puzzle assembled right? Akiyama was getting nowhere and she knew that. It was already 9 pm and Akiyama already ready to get out of this house.

Akiyama decided to sleep on it and headed to sleep. She brushed her teeth and flossed. Then put on her pjs. She grabbed a book and read it for an hour until she felt really tired. Rolling over to the right side of the bed Akiyama tried to put her book on the nightstand but the book fell because there was no nightstand there. She could have sworn there was one there earlier. 'It's strange' she thinks while putting the book on the nightstand on the left side of the bed 'that there is a nightstand on one side of the bed but not on the other. The bed is huge and it makes the room unbalanced.' Akiyama thought about the design of the room and her eyes suddenly opened wide in realization.

Sleepiness forgotten, she rushed to the puzzle map and studied it again. "That's it!" She rushed over to the nightstand. "The images on the map weren't for decoration they represent everything thing in the room!" She walked around studying everything and putting an image on them splitting up the puzzle. "The lake is the bed, the town is the dresser, the door is the ocean, and the nightstand is the forest. That means...aha!" Akiyama pulled a key from underneath the carpet next to the nightstand where the map said it would be.

I'm losing stamina to finish this story. Updates will probably come a lot slower. As always tell me if I made any mistakes! Have a great day! Peace Out ✌️
