Buzz buzz buzz
My cell phone is buzzing.
Alarm.
6:15
Got to get up.
Okay. Let's get dressed. Breakfast's in fourty minutes.
I'm wearing a skirt today, I don't care. I have to enjoy the warm days before the snow hits the fan. So to speak.
I love fashionable clothes and I'm always bothering my mom to go shopping for them.
I just get four to five months a year of semi-warm weather to wear real clothes. The rest of the year is too cold for trying.
I'm wearing an tight short short short black skirt and mid thigh high black boots. Blue floaty blouse and a black motorcycle jacket.
To complete the look, a messy bun, soft make-up but thick eyeliner.
The lipstick is nude.
"That will do."
7:05 I'm ready.
Get my gym bag, toss my books into a big black tote bag and go downstairs.
"Mom, can we go see Jessica this weekend..."
"Hi Ziig." Ogi says.
"Oh... I did not hear the doorbell. Hi." I smiled.
"...Can we?" I address my mom again.
"Don't you have a game this weekend?" She asks.
"Argh... Yeah." I say and then whisper "I need highlights. Soon."
"I'll make the appointment to next weekend. Sit. Eat."
"Thanks. "
"So, Little Wolf here was talking about his driving skills."
"Was he?"
"Yeah. I learned to drive when I was fourteen, so almost four years of doing it."
I chuckled.
My mom stared with threatening eyes.
"Sorry..." I mouthed
"Okay. Eat. Don't be late. I got to go to my Classes too. Teach the kids about the culture and heritage. Ziigwan behave. That skirt is too tight and too short... thank the great spirits your father is not here to see that."
I laughed.
"I know. Thanks the great spirits."
Ogi was quiet.
I start eating, otherwise we will be late.
"Do you always dress like that? 'Cuz yesterday you were with normal skinny jeans." He asks.
"Why do you care? And how did you notice?"
"I memorize stuff. I don't know." He blushed a little.
"I just want to enjoy the weather while I can." I say "At least I got a coat. Are you going to school with just a t-shirt?"
"I'm hot. I'm always hot. It's annoying."
"Annoying? I wish I was not always cold. Stupid weather."
His car was awesome. I thought it would be a really old Land Rover. It is not. 5 year-old tops.
"Okay. Thanks for giving me a ride today. It was nice of you." I say sliding into the front seat.
"Sure. At what time does you practice ends?"
"4:35 I'm usually ready. And yours? "
"About that time too. That prick will try to undermine me today." He explains.
"I'll be there. We will practice at the same gym. Don't worry I got your back."
"You understand that I literally could tear that boy apart? " he chuckles.
"Yeah I got it, wolfy. That's exactly what you should not do." I warn him.
"What should I do, Z? Please enlighten me." He says sarcastically.
"Don't be like that. Just say to him something like 'are you scared of me, Cookieboy?' Or ' I don't need to insult you, I'm better than you.' Or better, be his teammate... mind blowing, ah?"
"Shut up, Little Flower. You're too thin to mock me."
"Thank you. Still the sweetest King ever." I laughed at his face.
I turn the music on. Crossing my legs and taking off my jacket.
I smiled when I realized he increased the strength on the wheel. Grabbing it so hard that the knots on his hands were almost white.
Put my sunglasses on and sang along with the radio.
"Comme on comme on put the radio on..." Dancing a little too.
"Finally a grin. I thought you lost your teeth during the night. Chill, it will be okay. Those stupid blondes will be all over you by 5:30. I'll make sure of that. Bros before hoes." I laugh out.
"You are not my bro." He rolled his eyes.
"Jeez. Okay. I know. You know what I mean."
"I know. I wish you were with me yesterday. At least I wouldn't hit that clown."
"He's not a clown. His family, you know, they are conservatives. I'll talk to him."
"Are you dating him? Is that what this is about?"
"What? No. No. I used to tutor him. He's just scared. We all are, right? High School..." I made a face.
He was grabbing the wheel too tight again.
"Well, maybe I think he's kinda cute..."
He groaned. Scaring me.
Ha! Catch you. "What was that? "
"Nothing." He replied obviously upset.
"Calm down. I'm joking. He is not my type."
"What's your type?"
I wanted to say. Big bad wolfs with piercing eyes and the whitest teeth.
"Not that blonde. I guess. Interesting and at least mildly smart."
I toned it down a little.
"What about you? Tell me. I could pair you up with someone. I know every girl at senior year."
"I don't like any of those girls. You know. There's rules for me to follow."
"I know. I wish I could help, but there's no one else besides us at this age." I explain.
We arrived. It's show time.
Obviously I was feeling like a million bucks.
When Ogi parked the car on the school's parking lot I took a deep breath " Piece of Cake. We even have first period together. Come on, Wolfie let's ignite rumors. You look hot and have no zits on your face."
I laughed as I gathered my stuff to go.
He sight " yeah."
All eyes on us, as we walked past those gates.
"Zig." I heard Molly call.
"Come meet the girls" I tell him, dragging him.
"As if I got a say..." he complain, but walked with me.
"Hi girls, this is my friend King. King meet the girls." I paused " This is Molly, my best girlfriend."
"Hi" she says blushing a little.
"That's Britney, Tiffany, Madison and Katie." I finished.
" Hi King" the say almost in unison.
Ugh... Disgusting... they're all swooning.
First ring. We all start to go in.
"Guess who's having English now." Molly says.
"You don't mind me seating with him, today, right?"
"Sure, but one time thing." She smiled.
"Deal!" I promise.
He started to relax and by the end of first period he was talking to other people.
"Have a nice day, Ogi. Meet you at lunch. If you need to." I touched his arm and paused " I get if you have to sit with the basketball team." I say to him when we get up and walk to the corridor.
"We'll see how it goes the next two classes with you-know-who." He replied.
"Okay." And before I walk away I plant a kiss on his cheek.
Wow. He's right. He's literally hot.
"What?" Molly murmured.
"Come on M, don't need to loose credit by getting late to class." I rushed her.
"He's totally checking you out." She says looking back.
"Oh please. We are friends since we were both in diapers. He's my Ogimaa, my king. We're like brother and sister." I stated.
"Hum hum, right." She replied.
And the morning dragged itself till lunch time.
"Thank the greats, I'm starving." I say to Molly.
We only got like, 30 minutes to eat.
"Romain mix with spinach please, Miss Daisy. Thank you." I ask one of the lunch ladies.
"How are you little leaf? Good start at school?" She asks.
"Yeah. Our Little Ogimaa is attending senior year. Have you seen him?"
"Yeah. He's with the basketball team over there." she points discretely "He's not that little anymore, ah?"
We laugh. "See you tomorrow. Thank you. Baamaapii." I smiled.
"Baamaapii Miinwaa kaawaabmin" she smiles back.
I payed. Me and Molly sit with Britney and Katie.
"Zig. Oh my gosh. You must tell me everything about that red cookie." Britney says, getting hit by Katie.
"Brit, please, don't say it like that. Sounds wrong." Katie says.
"Biatch, please. I know the guy since birth, but I don't see him since I started to study here. So... five years ago. He's probably a different person." I tell them and myself.
"Britney, aren't you with Hunter now?" Molly asked.
"Yeah. I'm just asking for a friend." she laughs.
"Well, I got nothing to give you. He's a good guy and always respected me growing up. He went to Canada for 5 years with his parents and now their back." I confessed.
"Lucky us." Molly sighs.
We all laughed. And suddenly they're all looking behind me and just stared.
"Ziigwan, can I talk to you?" Said a painfully recognizable voice.
"What Cole?" I say without turning back.
"In private..."
"Ugh. Okay. I'm finished anyway." Untrue. I didn't eat much. Not that I eat much.
I get up and walk to place my tray in its proper place.
"Talk." I say to him.
"Z, I didn't meant to. You know that. You totally ignore my text and calls and come on. I was at a party, in a big city, she was a College girl. I mean..." he fails to apologize. In the door of the cafeteria.
"Cole, I've made my peace with it. Of course I am not dating you anymore but as a gesture of goodwill from you I want to ask you for something." I gaze him.
"Okay. Name it. If you forgive me and be friends with me again." He negotiate.
"Okay. You are civil and political correct with King Thunderbird. Deal?" I asked.
"What? No way. The guy punched me." He almost yelled.
"Who started it?" I look deep into his eyes. Those green distracting eyes.
"Fine. But it was more like a joke." He defended.
"He's not like me. He was offended. Got it?" I tell him.
"Okay. Deal. I even try to be his friend, if that make you happy." He tells me.
I get closer to him and whisper in his ear "Good. Now you can watch my ass as I walk away." I say and go to class.
I walk past the cafeteria opened doors and took 10 more steps. I hear a husky voice.
" Tutoring him. Ah? Liar."
"How did you hear that?"
"I also heard the ass part. Not good."
"Come on Ogi, I'm not a kid anymore." I defended myself.
"Yeah, neither am I. You didn't have to ask him that..."
"Okay. You are creeping me out. How did you heard my conversation with him. You were not near us. Were you?" I ask not believing it was real.
"I got my ways." He says dryly.
"Are you going to Algebra now?" I ask.
"No, but I'll walk you." He smiles.
"God. You're too good looking. Those girls don't stand a chance." I laugh.
