Chapter 7 - Elevated

"You're not one us!" With taunting laughter, Copper winded up his fist and he brought it crashing at its ultimate speed.

Fwoop!

It smashed against something so hard and so painful it was thrown off course and his body off balance. He fell and the same rock hard item collided with his chin and sent him off of Joao.

"Enough!"

When both parties looked up they saw Po and stood over Joao with his hands in his pocket and his black leather closed-laced orcas. A shoe built for the offices and wedding days that Po worse to school every day. It was notorious for rumors about it being lined with metal inside.

After the display it put up, no one could be clowned for thinking so. Copper didn't struggle to get up. He glared at Po who closed his eyes to smile back. Copper coughed something out into his hand and whipped some blood off his mouth.

When he opened his hand up he found another one of his precious gold canines having been kicked out. He glared yet again to Po and this time instead of smiling he zoomed in on the gem.

"Oy." He put his foot on Joao's forehead. "How much can we get for that thing."

Joao shook his head in order to make the shoe fall off but it was still brand new and the rubber gripped. "It's fake," he said in a faint voice.

"Mmm," Po finally removed one of his hands from his pockets and rubbed his chin. He took his shoe off of Joao's head and returned his hands back into his pockets.

"Just agree to his terms and move on, you can't win against us." Po said in a calm voice, his smile no longer there.

Copper felt as if his heart was going to jump out of his chest when he saw the smile fade. But the words that followed infuriated him, they took all of his pride and dipped it into a sea of mud.

'No matter how strong he is, he is still a soldier, if I charge him with those bone heads there is no way he can resist our assault.' Copper shifted his eyes and planted them on his subordinates.

Most of them tried their hardest to avoid his gaze while the others just sighed and tried their best to draw up morale from an abyss.

'Yes, yes. If we attack him in unison we can't fail. It's not like me and the boys haven't been in mob fights before.' He raised his fists and got into a battle position.

Sensing that something smelled a bit fishy, Po changed his posture and turned his body to the wall. He checked his former rear and he saw hat the wounded fighters were getting ready for a pincer maneuver.

He looked to his former front and found a grin on Copper's face, a toothless grin, Po couldn't help but laugh a little. It ruined the mood for everybody and like a leach for the soul drained some confidence.

"All of this isn't necessary," Po said as he saw Tumi rise up from behind Copper.

"Are you perhaps worried you might lose?" Copper proclaimed as he moved forward.

The smile on Po's face dimmed yet again and lowered his head, still keeping his eyes on Copper. "Perhaps!" He sternly said.

Copper paused yet again. "What does that even mean?"

Joao giggled and a phone rang. For a few seconds, it remained uncertain as to who was carrying the ringing device until Tumi smacked Copper on his head. "That's our cue bloody bastard." And limped forward keeping his gaze on Joao fixed until he crossed over. He said nothing and tears started to roll off his eyes.

Monke smiled a bit as Tumi passed by, "hey." He called.

Tumi stilled and clenched his fits, he felt his body heat up and his heart beat faster.

"Tears reflect a man's true strength, some idiot told me that before dumping his responsibilities on me and disappeared. I thought you might wanna…" Before Monke even finished talking Tumi bolted past him and started to howl down the stairs.

Meanwhile Copper had just received news from his phone, his face beamed with a large smile and eventually a light laugh. He hung up and signaled for his men to drop their guard, they weren't aware of why the sudden change of heart but they were happy none the less.

"I'll give you your half a million." He boldly stated before bouncing forward.

"Phone," Joao pulled on Po's pants twice and said.

Po nodded and stepped in front of Copper, "I'll need that phone on you."

Copper immediately took a few huge steps back and exclaimed. "WHY? I JUST SAID I'LL GIVE YOU YOUR MONEY DIDN'T I?"

"Just give me the damn thing and walk away, or would you rather I come and take it myself?" Po sighed.

Copper glared at his men and they all shook their heads, he exposed his teeth and almost started barking at them when one shouted. "THE MONKEY KING IS HERE!"

Time stopped for Copper as he felt his head get heavier, he was dealt a bad hand this time around. He looked back at Po and examined him once more, "diamond necklace, afro comb, bank shoes, and a mean kick! You, you are Po."

"Is that it?" Po asked after squinting his eyes at Copper.

Copper shook his head and walked over to him, he handed over the phone and quickly ran towards the exit to the staircase. Monke put his hand on the door frame, "isn't there an elevator in this building?"

As if a blizzard just blew in everyone went cold, Cooper's eyes grew wider and wider as sweat dripped from him.

"Answer me this instant!"

"There, there is."

"Then why aren't you using it?"

Copper fell silent.

"Whoever tells me first gets to pass without paying a fee."

The hallway went nuts and Copper jumped into Monke screaming, "THEY BOOBY TRAPPED IT. IT WAAS…"

Monke slapped him back and the hallway went silent. "Joao," he called.

"Yeah?"

Monke glared at him and sighed, "how many people can that thing carry?"

"What?" Joao leaped back up and asked as his chin parted his lips.

The same question rose in everybody's mind and Copper who just been slapped knelt on the ground. "It wasn't my fault I swear, don't let me ride on that thing."

"I said how many people can fit in that thing?"

"1 300 to 1 810 kg. But why?"

"Isn't it simple? These people are going to ride it!"

"But the…" Joao paused. "But the building."

Monke glanced into Joao's eyes momentarily. Joao kept contact and even began walking further.

"So what do you suggest we do with them. The elevator is already rigged." Po said.

"There are a total of 20 thugs here, that and plus their supposed leader Copper makes 21. I suggest we keep them and have their bigger bosses free them with money."

"Who would pay money for these scraps?" Monke asked.

"It doesn't have to be money."

"People walked into my property, beat up my people, and tried to take my money. And you are suggesting that I let them walk?" Monke grabbed Copper by his blazer and yanked him up. "Pick 10 guys from the group to ride with you." He said as he threw him into the crowd.

Copper ran back to Monke screaming again. "PLEASE FORGIVE ME. IT WASN'T MY FAULT." Once he was in contact with him, he pulled out a pocket knife and thrust. He laughed. "Don't mess with me."

"You're wasting my time," Monke said as he raised up his hand to show that he had caught the knife with his fingers. He pulled it and turned it to face the owner.

Copper raised his hands to surrender and only earned himself a stab through his left one. He screamed out in pain and collapsed to his knees.

"Why are you still down there, pick your men and leave."

Copper looked at Monke and cursed in his heart. He stood up obediently and started counting out all those who were to march to the afterlife with him.

Monke and Joao followed right behind them and Po waited with the remaining 10. Copper slowly pressed the open button and they didn't wait long until the door opened up for them.

He loaded five men first and entered after them and the last five followed in behind. One stood at the door while the other continuously rearranged themselves but eventually, the time came. They pressed for the ground floor and the doors closed. Nothing happened.

Monke and Joao looked at each other.

"Maybe it takes a little bit of time before it happens. Besides they just got a few seconds ago."

Monke yawned, "you're a terrible fighter."

"HEY!" Joao raised a fist and just as he tried to punch Monke…

Boom!

The building vibrated from the explosion.
