It was the second year of my adulthood. Aeson and I had been married for two months.
"Hey there beautiful."
"What's up?" I turned to him with a smile. He had managed to convince me to not wear the masks anymore, though I still wore them on occasion.
"Well, I wanted to take you out for a bit. Maybe.... Explore outside the forest?"
"Outside? Sounds like it'd be interesting. Although, what's the point of coming back if we leave?"
"So you're finally done with this place?" He laughed. "It took you long enough. Honestly, I was done with this place the day we married."
"Hm... Well, we should get packing." I smiled. "Actually, why don't you pack and I'll inform the family."
"That's a whole job of it's own. I suppose I'll allow you to not pack anything."
"Please pack at least one of my masks."
"Fine." He sighed. "See you later."
"Bye!" I waved and left. I flew over to my mother's house, knowing she'd be the easiest to convince to let me go.
As a Faerie, she was a nomad. When she met my father, she finally settled down, finding an elven colony. Then she became close friends with Aeson's mother, and had me.
"Ah. Hey Lucy! What's going on?"
"So... I wanted to tell you that Aes and I are leaving."
"Leaving? To where?"
"Out." I shrugged. "I don't know quite yet."
"Alright. Just.... Be careful okay?"
"Yeah. Of course I will Mom." I gave her a hug. "Bye!" She smiled sadly and waved.
"Goodbye Lucy."
I told my dad, and Aeson's mom and dad, and then we left the sleepy little town we called home.
As we traveled the world, we heard rumors of an Adventurer's Guild that was recently made. "I think we should join." I spoke up, glancing up at Aeson. "Do you have an opinion?"
"Not really. I'm here to follow you, love."
"Then we'll join." I smiled.
We wandered for a long time, several months it seemed, before finally stumbling across the town where it was located.
"This is quite a large town. How will we find a single, small Guild in all this?"
"I don't know." Aeson looked at me with a smile. "But as long as I'm with you, I don't care how long it takes."
"You flirt." I chuckled. "Well, let's begin."
Inside the town called Magecross, there are twenty districts. There were craftsmen districts, education districts, battle training districts, a Guild section, and even living areas.
Some of the store names were ones like Fire & Brimstone, a blacksmithery, and Arcane Infantry, a magic shop. There was a library called Stellar Athenaeum, and a magic school called Doutity.
The Guild we needed to find in this mess of a city was called Burningshroud.
When we found it, there was a rather steady stream of people entering and leaving. We watched for a while, then entered the stream of people flowing inside.
The majority of the people there moved out of the way, curious. It's not really everyday you see a half-Faerie, who's also a dragonling with an Elf.
"Hello and welcome to the Burningshroud." The receptionist's voice sounded bored.
"We'd like to join the Guild."
"You and all these people." She looked annoyed.
"Hm... Well, are all these people half Dragon and half Faerie, or a pureblooded elf?"
"No. What are your skills?"
"Well, he can control elements, and I can speak to animals and transform, as well as control elements. I can use other spells, and fly people anywhere in my dragon form."
"I'll take you to the Master." She stood. "Follow."
The receptionist walked us through the building, guiding us to an office.
As we walked, I looked around, noticing the powerful look to the training rooms, and the personal touches in the opened rooms, as well as the many offices and storage rooms.
As I looked around I noticed that Aeson was slowly getting closer to me, entwining his hand in mine. "What are you doing?" I whispered, leaning closer.
"Making sure, that if this 'Master' is male, that he knows that you are mine and no one else's."
"Wow. Now you're getting possessive." I smiled, leaning into him. "That's fine. I don't mind in the slightest."
"We're there." The receptionist spoke, stopping in front of a black door.
The rest of the doors were white, so this one stood out a whole lot more.
"Enter when you're ready." She walked away, leaving us at the door.
I only hesitated a second, and opened the door. All I saw when I first entered was books. Lots of books. They were stacked around the door, they were scattered over the floor, there was so many pieces of paper all over the floor.
So pretty much, this office is a huge mess.
When we saw the 'Master,' I realized 'Mistress' would be more fitting.
The Guildmaster was a female Demon, one who actually looked innocent, if that's possible.
"It is nice to meet you." I said to the Demon, who had been busy with paperwork.
"Oh? Someone made it past Roslynn?" She looked up.
"Yes." I nodded, extending a hand.
