Chapter 69 - Manners

Carrying the gloom on his face, the minister reached back the palace. His fear for the King enveloped his heart as he arrived at the King's chamber.

After hesitating and waiting a long time, he finally allowed the guard to announce his presence. He mustered all his courage to deliver the message from Taika.

The king let him in. He is standing near the window and gazing at the sinking Sun. His body is emitting a dangerous aura making the minister in that peaceful room feel suffocated.

"Greetings! Your Majesty," Minister greeted.

The king simply stood there unturned. The Minister took the opportunity and informed, "Your Majesty, we went to master Taika's place and requested him to come meet you. But he denied."

Long silence followed as the king didn't respond. The minister is ready to accept any kind of punishment. But he was jolted by the king's laugh. He is laughing like he heard the best joke. It surprised the minister to the core.

"I expected it. Let's prepare the horse. I will personally meet my Master. It's been a long time since I met him," King said with a smile on his face.

Minister froze in his spot. He expected some severe punishment from the King but all his worry is just gone like that.

'So I worried for nothing,' the Minister thought to himself.

"Anything else?"

"No Your Majesty. Will make the arrangements immediately. Let me take my leave." Minister informed and left the chamber in a hurry.

When the king reached the forest it was already past midnight. The night was cold and the forest was crooked dark. Despite the temperature, Surya's guards were sweating. They're pretty sure it is because of their king's presence.

In no time they reached Taika's house. The students were sleeping soundly outside the house unbothered by the chilling winds. But the sound of approaching footsteps awakened them instantly.

They are shocked by seeing King Surya himself coming to this place. But they didn't fear him like his guards but they felt the pressure of his presence. The King and others walked straight towards the house. One student stopped them and inquired.

"Apologies. My Master is sleeping right now. Kindly come back in the morning."

Surya raised his brows in interest and asked in a low yet cold voice, "You know who you are stopping?"

The minister who came along with the King shivered by his tone. He thought that the student is doomed today.

"I know."

"Still you dare to stand against me?" Surya asked with amusement.

"I am not standing against you King Surya. I am just acting upon my master's will," the student replied.

"Ohh.. Then go and inform your master that his beloved student came to pay respects to him," King Surya stated.

"Sorry. But our master strictly informed us to not let anyone disturb his sleep."

"Even if it is The King and his beloved student?" King asked.

"Yes. Even if it is the King himself," the student responded.

"Interesting. Then did your master teach you how to respect the King?" Surya asked.

"Our master taught us well. And I certainly give you my respect, King Surya. Maybe it's you who don't know the meaning of respect or forgot what respect is," the student commented.

The minister's breath hitched with the student's bold words. He never witnessed such a scene in his entire life. No one dared to insult the King like this before.

'Does this student have a death wish?' the minister thought to himself.

The cold breeze passing by made the ears freeze and pain hard. Surya is looking at the student with his blank eyes. They both stared at each other.

Surya reaches the student's neck in a flash and before he breaks his neck, the sound of an opening door is heard.

The student was startled by the sudden attack. Before he could comprehend, Surya's hand was on his neck and he couldn't even utter a word. He thought his death knocked on his door but suddenly the grip loosened.

The student staggered back and sat on the floor. He gasped for air and his face looked pale but his situation is far better than the minister's face.

The minister kept staring at the student who was taking air with struggle but he didn't notice any fear for the king. He inwardly praised the student.

"What are you doing here?" Taika asked coldly.

Surya smiled and returned to normal like nothing happened a few moments back.

"I am here to meet you master and meanwhile I am teaching the student some manners," Surya commented by looking at the student who already recovered.

"Apologise Master, for disturbing your sleep. I didn't do my task properly," the student said with his head down.

"That's fine. You did your best and you all can go and take a rest," Taika informed everyone.

"Tch.Tch.. So touching. You surely love your students, master" Surya commented.

"You don't need to teach manners to my students because they are well mannered except one. Also, I love my students and that is the reason you are still alive," Taika stated.

"Straightforward as always."

"Give respect to your master even if you are a King or a God? That is the basic manners. Don't barge into someone's house just because you are a king, the house of someone who never fears the king." Taika stated firmly.

Surya laughed by throwing his head back and looked at his master. He said, "You haven't changed, master."

"But you changed," Taika remarked.

"Well yes. I changed for my own good." Surya responded.

"In that process you discarded all your morals," Taika informed.

Surya's eyes darkened and a cold aura surrounded him. Everyone felt a tension in the atmosphere.
