Chapter 34 - Picking something precious

"You guys want to join the art class?"

The paints and different paint brushes rolled from the table down to the floor. Alaena frowned after realizing that she needed to arrange it again. She should have put it down slowly.

"Why the sudden question?" Amy pushed herself from the chair and bent down to pick the paintbrushes. "And what's with these things?" She put it back in the box.

Justin, who's following Alaena behind, answered. "We need help, we are renovating the art room" he also pushed some boxes beside his table. "We are going to bring this to the stockroom after lunchtime," he added, wiping the sweats on his forehead.

The students in the cafeteria are now getting crowded. It's been 15 minutes since the bell rang for lunchtime. Everyone lined up to buy their own foods. Alaena and Justin decided to carry those things to the cafeteria because they would get scolded if they didn't guard it.

"What's with these boxes?" Aiden, who just got back from the counter to order some food, pushed the small box beside the chair and looked at Alaena. "Did you carry this here?" he asked.

Alaena nodded her head and took a spoonful of her food. "Yeah, does it bother you? Don't mind it, we were going to put it back in the stockroom after lunch break," she said.

The guy gulped his soda and looked at Justin with his sleepy eyes. "You guys need help?" Then he also shot a glance at the girl beside him.

"Actually, they're asking if we want to join the art class," Amy answered instead. She pointed her spoon at her cousin and asked. "Do you want to join the art class? I'm going to join and help them" then she picked the piece of sushi from her plate and munched it deliciously.

Justin beamed, "Really?! It will become fun if you guys are there!" he gulped the bottle of water from excitement that he almost got choked. Aiden across from him, handed him a tissue with his grumpy expression saying it all. The other male took it and wiped himself, then they continued eating their lunch.

Since Aiden was a 3rd year student, he brought Amy with him to let his professor know that he'll going to help at the art class. They stride the quiet hallways with a few students going back to their room.

"Why bring me with you?! You can just ask your professor to let you go," Amy, with her crossed arms, snorted.

Aiden clicked his tongue, and once again looked at the girl beside him with his grumpy brows. He's trying so hard to hide his sleepy grey eyes. It's his problem since the start, though. "At least the professor will believe me if he sees you," he replied, putting his hands in his pockets.

They reached the classroom and, as usual, just like before, Amy was the one who talked to the professor while Aiden only stood behind her. He's glaring at the boys because some are calling and asking for Amy's attention. Though he couldn't deny that his cousin is a charming one.

After finally getting Aiden's professor's permission, they left the classroom. The art room was located in the left corner of their building. It was a minute walk, so Amy told him to wait at the edge of the hallways because she will use the restroom.

Aiden leaned his back on the wall while tapping his fingers on his lap. Counting every minute spent by his cousin. He then took his gaze to the wide grassland in front of the building. Enjoying the breeze as the trees flutter its leaves to dance. He was leaning on the wall near the stairs going to the 4th floor; they needed to head down so this is the spot he chose to wait for Amy.

After a minute of waiting, Aiden started to feel bored. He pushed himself up from the wall he was leaning on and was about to make a step when a figure stayed in front of his eyes from the stairs. His hands moved unconsciously to grab the girl falling down. Aiden's hands went to her back while one on her shoulders.

The girl bumped into the guy's chest.

She clenched Aiden's coat, which made some of her hair fall onto her cheeks. The girl gently lifted her head and her amethyst round eyes dilated in embarrassment and redness leaked all over her face. She immediately pushed Aiden and turned around, picking the books she fell. "I-I-I'm s-sorry!" she stammered.

It made Aiden a little awkward since it was his first time interacting with another girl except Alaena and Amy because the truth is; he had no close friends in his class. He's always in the 2nd year's building to bond with Amy, Alaena and Justin.

Since he also wanted to calm the atmosphere, he crouched down and picked up the book closer to his feet. He handed it to the girl, "Here's another one." He didn't look her in the eyes one more time. He's too shy to do that. Even if he had a grumpy expression, he's still a gentleman.

The girl, who's height by his ears, bowed her head and mumbled. "Thank you," she bit her lower lip and added, "Sorry for the trouble," and after that, she dashed away immediately.

Amy, who just walked out of the girl's bathroom, stopped and widened her eyes when she saw the situation. She froze when the girl passed by her, then she dashed to her cousin real quick.

"Aiden! Did you see that person?!" Amy asked.

Aiden tilted his head with his frown expression. "Hah?" he asked. "I just helped her. I don't know her. Why? Is that a big deal?"

Amy almost brushed her face, "Geez, Aiden...It's the school's princess, Charlotte Adams" she said it on the male's face. It left the guy dazed for a while, like he's processing everything in his thoughts. "Do I need to know that?" he asked.

"You're hopeless!" Amy pulled him as they trudged the hallways going to the art room, but instead of following, Aiden squatted down and picked something on the floor. It was a small purple notebook with a small pen on the side. "I think she forgot this," he mumbled.
