Chapter 19 - Those deep blue eyes

In the middle of the wide and quiet art room, a figure was sitting on the stool in front of the medium size canvas. Her thin and frail fingers were swaying gracefully, as if dancing along with the colors from the paintbrush, splattering and sparkling magic.

The thin but calm atmosphere of the room and the dancing thin curtains were adding more vague scenery to her. Every once in a while, her face will smile, frown, or will turn unsatisfied. She's stroking colors just like a goddess, taming the wildest beast. Her hands were very light and warm, as if she's giving warmth into the world of colors.

She already tied her hair up, but the little ones escaped her loose clips. It flows down on her pinkish cheeks, making her look messy but classic. She had this masterpiece running inside her mind for days. As far as she can remember, it was deep blue. Just like the ocean, those eyes can pull you into daydreams.

The girl paused, leaving an inch between her fingers and the canvas. She tilted her head and mumbled, "This is not the right color" Her face frowned. If she wanted it to be the same, she needed to mix the perfect colors.

Those deep blue eyes looking down at her that day were full of grief and sadness. As it's calling her to save a prisoner. It's enticing, but hopeless. Her heart throbbed again upon remembering that encounter. She put down the color plate and lowered her head. Tapping her chest and feeling the seconds of her breaths. 'My heart is beating so fast again' she thought.

"Alaena?"

As soon as she heard that voice, Alaena exclaimed. Snapping from her lost thoughts. "M-Miss C-Carrein?!!!"

She stood up from the stool and bowed her head. "G-Good morning!!"

The lady smiled at her and ignored the way she got scared. Miss Carrein turned her gaze to the canvas in front of Alaena. "Did you paint this?"

Realizing that she's doing it in an open place gave her embarrassment. She thought that Miss Carrein wouldn't arrive until she's finished. Alaena used her body to block the canvas. "Y-Yes! This is nothing!" she exclaimed with her face turning red.

The lady turned silent, putting her hand under her chin. "Why are you just painting the eyes? Is it a manhwa character?" Then she eyed Alaena. "Wait! I think I saw those eyes somewhere," she beamed, so proud of herself that she remembered a piece of information.

"It's n-nothing!!! Don't try to remember it, Miss Carrein"

And before the other lady's very eyes, Alaena was already in the corner covering the canvas with white cloth.

THE BELL RANG

"I need to go!! See you later, Miss Carrein" Before she could give her regards, the girl had already disappeared from her sight.

Alaena remembered that she still needed to give back the books she borrowed from Aiden and if she's going to use the stairs, she'll surely run out of time.

She stopped beside the ledges and looked down. The stairs are quite long and troublesome. "I guess I have no choice. I need to hurry," she whispered.

Liechael squeezed the folders more into his arms. He's in a hurry because the time for first class is about to start, but since he's in charge of-the-art class, it's his duty to deliver all the documents to Miss Carrein. The guy finds it tiring but happy at the same time. He loves art so much, even in his real body.

He took the turn and was about to go up the stairs when a paper from the folders slipped. He bent down and picked it up. The room was on the fourth floor and he needed to hurry before the clock for the first class hit.

His footsteps echoed in the enclosed area of the place. Liechael then remembered the first time he saw Lilith and the two upperclassmen bullying a kid. That time, he still had no idea of what's happening around him. Getting used to this body is difficult. Everything is like a puzzle, if you want to see the beauty, you need to put all the pieces.

"WATCH OUT!!!"

Liechael tilted his head and his deep blue eyes became bigger. It astonished him for a second. A girl from the side of the stairs above him yelled as she put all the pressure of her body to her arms, grabbing the stair handles as she made a leap from the third floor with the support of one hand.

Everything turned in slow motion in Liechael's eyes.

Her blue coat fluttered to her fast movements as she slowly fell down, and her bun hair swayed as it slowly escaped her ties. Exposing the light brown and silky threads. The morning rays from the glass window in front of the stairs hit her face. It glowed and gave her an aura of a goddess descending from heaven.

SWOOSH!!

The two bodies rolled into the corner before the very first step of the fourth floor. Liechael groaned as he hit his head on the wall. He winced and rubbed his forehead. Then he paused when he felt something heavy on him. From his stomach, his eyes went up from her body to her face.

Their eyes meet, both flinched with red faces from the embarrassment.

"A-A-Ala---"

Before he could even reach his hand to touch her cheeks, Alaena sprang up from him and exclaimed. "I'm sorry! I'm in a hurry! Please let me escape!" The girl bowed her head and dashed away.

"W-Wai--" Liechael stopped. He withdraw his hand and clenched his chest. It was his chance and yet he let it escape. He remained leaning on the wall, still feeling the girl's warm touch. He curled up and hugged himself.

'Alaena'

He wanted to utter her name, but he found it so heavy that his tongue almost curled up. He froze to a cold stone and was speechless. The tightening on his chest squeezed him.

'I miss you'
