*Li Juan's POV
The night did seem beautiful but I just couldn't enjoy it. I was the only one awake in this scary forest. That wicked emperor!!!! One of these days, I was going to forget he was the emperor and give him a piece of my mind.
He could have sent any of the more experienced soldiers to take the first watch. Why? Why did he have to choose me? I really hope no one attacks us because my kungfu was still lacking greatly.
All of a sudden it seemed like the trees moved, I got up with my sword and moved closer to check. I was so afraid that I was visibly shaking. When I sure that no one was there, I turned to move back when I suddenly bumped into someone.
"Your Majesty, what are you doing awake?" I asked trying to regain my composure.
"If you are so afraid, how will you defeat the enemy?" He said sitting by the fire.
Sitting down on the opposite side of the fire, I begin starring the fire.
"Your Majesty, I was just startled. Nothing more." I said looking down at the fire.
"You are exactly alike. When you lie, you avoid direct contact with the eyes of others" he said.
"Who? Who do I resemble?" I ask
"Forget it. Lemme show you something." He said standing up and taking my hand.
"But... The camp. Who will stand guard?" I ask
"Don't worry. My personal bodyguard is awake. He will stand guard here" He said dragging my hand
When we reach deep into the forest, I see some mountains. As a child, I have always loved climbing things. I wasn't afraid of heights at all.
"Where are we? This is so beautiful" I say turning around excitedly.
I notice him looking at me sadly. That causes me to stop.
"What is it?" I asked
"Nothing. This mountain has always been my place of solace. When I first came to Xuzhou, I got lost here. Then I discovered this forest. Do you know why I brought you here?" He asked.
"No, why did you bring me here?" I asked.
"To do this!" He said pointing a sword at me.
"Your Majesty! What are you doing?" I asked shifting back.
Suddenly he attacks me. I dodge and try to run but before I know it, he's in front of me. His kungfu is definitely amazing. But I notice he is not trying to kill me. I dodge and try to slice him but he's faster and cuts my sleeve. I shift back panting.
"Hmmm, your kungfu is really bad" He said.
I immediately start to think of an excuse. How do I tell him that I don't know kungfu?
"Actually Your Majesty, I hit my head in the last incident that happened in my manor. Please forgive me for not telling you. The truth is I hit my head and can't remember anything. Including all my kungfu skills" I said kneeling.
"Wait! I don't understand. You hit your head? Why didn't you say anything?" He asked looking worried.
I get up and start walking around obviously to avoid looking into his eyes.
"I didn't want to worry my father. I also didn't want to cause an alarm. The physician said I would recover in a month" I said turning back to look at him.
"Since you don't remember anything, how are you going to fight the bandits?" He asked.
I watch him walk around for some minutes. He is elegantly dressed even at night. Why did he and the duke have to fight? Why was there so many conspiracies in the palace?
"Here, I will teach you some moves. Since you don't want to alert anyone, I will help you." He said holding my hand.
We stare at each other's eyes for some time before he holds my hand and teaches me some moves. Everything at this moment seems unreal. He always has a cold expression yet at this moment, he seems gentle.
Not paying attention to anything but his eyes, I twist my ankle and fall on him. We both land heavily on the ground. Starring again into his eyes, I forget that I am on top of him.
" Will you stand up?" He said bringing me from my fantasy....
