Chapter 17 - COURT MEETING

*Li Juan's POV

After days of seeing the emperor, I finally understood that love didn't exist in ancient China. Everyone talked about the breath taking love within Li Juan and the emperor. If only they knew....

General Wu had informed me yesterday that we will both be going to the royal court today. I had asked Ruomei why I had to attend today's court meeting since I was a girl, she told me that Li juan had followed General Wu everywhere since she was a child and was an official in court

The emperor favoured Li Juan. She was the only female in court under the disguise of being a general. Her kungfu was unmatched in the whole of Han...

Reaching the royal court, I realized I would have to stand. Only emperor was sitting on his phoenix chair.

"The emperor arrives!!!!" A voice said announcing his presence.

All the ministered immediately kowtowed saying "Long live the emperor!!! Long live Han dynasty!!!

"Raise!!!" He said.

General Wu had made me memorize a book containing pictures of ministers and their names.. Luckily for me, I was good at memorizing things. A minister I recognised as Minister Bai, the minister of Provincial Security came forward.

"Your Highness, the bandits in Xuzhou are getting stronger day by day. The prefects we sent to calm the storm were sent back dead. Please do something about it before it becomes too late" minister bai said.

"Your Highness, the nation still needs time to rest. After the great war in the east, the nation's resources have almost been exhausted. Most of the soldiers have been wounded. We cannot afford another war, your majesty" minster gu said.

The minsters started arguing. One thing did catch my attention. Duke Minsheng was not in court.

"Father, the duke isn't here." I said.

"Duke Minsheng is just a title in name only. Although his family run the line of scholars, he won't easily show up in court."general wu said

"Because of the emperor?"

"The emperor and duke have a silent understanding. They don't interfere with things that concern the other unless its necessary."general wu said

That explained it.

"Alright stop arguing. All you people do is argue. You don't come up with the solutions, just the problems. I already have a solution. I will go to Xuzhou with the royal army" the king said.

General Wu immediately came out.

"Your majesty, the capital needs you. Please think twice" general wu said.

"Please think twice, your majesty!!!" The rest of the ministers uniformly said.

"Unless you have a better solution for the problem in Xuzhou. That will be final. Hear my decree! I and young general wu will be going to xuzhou with my royal army to fight the bandits." He said.

"Your Majesty, Li juan is about to get married. She can't head to Xuzhou with you." General Wu said.

What? Xuzhou? The king wanted me to go to xuzhou with him to fight bandits? Was he already going mad? How could I possibly explain that I had no skills at all?

"What? Young general Wu is known for her kungfu throughout the capital and beyond. A stone shaped like her father. It's time she contributes to the country" minister Ling said.

"Yes! Yes!" The other minsters agreed.

It seemed all the ministers were jealous of Li Juan. She was given special treatment. General Wu came out again.

"I accept your decree, your majesty" he said.

You accept what? What type of father doesn't even defend his own daughter? Lemme tell you, General Wu. I was going to have to fend for myself in this place.

I took a look at the king. This man!! What exactly are you up to? Well, bring it on!
