Keep your face always towards the sunshine- and shadows will fall behind you. - Walt Whitman
I woke up and rolled to the other side of the bed. Hugging the pillow that Dwight sleeps on, I buried my face in it. Sniffing his scent, pine and fresh air drift across my nostrils.
Oh, how I miss him, it has only been two days since he has left, but it feels like its been an eternity since he has been gone.
I groan and get out of bed, I was not in the mood to leave the comfort of my bed, but I had to, I had a staff meeting today at nine o'clock . I was not prepared; emotionally nor mentally.
I stepped into the bathroom to start my morning routine.
Trying to decide on what to wear to work, I glanced over my to do list. I needed to take my car to the car wash, it really needed a deep clean.
Deciding on something simple, I quickly got dressed and left the apartment.

Arriving at work, I parked close to building, so that I didn't have to walk too far to get my car later today.
I said hi to Max, who was busy making a sandwich for a customer and entered the building. Stepping into my office, my supervisor walks in a few minutes later.
"Good morning." He said.
"Good morning, how are you?" I asked.
"I'm great, feeling refreshed. Those two weeks were really fantastic. I'm glad I took them."
"I'm glad that you enjoyed your vacation. I hope your rested?" I asked.
"Yes, that's all I did."
A small chuckle escaped my lips. "I'm happy that you got the rest you deserved."
"Yes, thank you. Now on to business. How was Sally in my absence?"
"She was ok. She handled herself well with the others and she completed her tasks." I answered.
"Wonderful, I don't have much to do then." He said, he was too happy, currently there was nothing on his desk that needed to done right away.
"Well, we have staff meeting today." I said bursting his happy bubble.
He groaned.
I laughed at him. "I don't think it will be as long as the others." I tried to reassure him.
"That's what they always say." He said, he was not happy. The disgruntled look on his face gave him away.
We spent a few minutes catching up, then left for the meeting. I found a seat somewhere in the middle. The person that was chairing the meeting walked to the front of the room.
"Good morning everyone, I want to welcome each and everyone to today's staff meeting. This will be a short meeting, so no one needs to fret." The chair person said.
I zone out twenty minutes after the meeting started. I wanted to be as far away as possible.
Four hours, that's how long the meeting lasted. I was glad it was over, I had a two o'clock appointment at the car wash.
I had approximately thirty minutes to get some work done before I had to leave. I sat at my desk and began. I looked up at the clock on the wall.
Shit, one, forty five. I'm late. I put my computer on sleep and rushed out.
I got in my car and dialed Mario's car wash. He picked up on the fourth ring.
"Hello, this is Mario's, how can I help?"
"Hey Mario it's me, Amelia. I'm on my way, I left work late. I should be there in-- looking down at my watch, about fifteen minutes." Then I hung up.
Pulling into Mario's, there were five cars waiting to be washed and on cue, Mario walked out of the building.
"Go ahead and pull in, I'll get it started."
"Thanks, Mario." I did what was told, I pulled into the entrance of the wash area and got out of the car.
"You can head to the waiting area, it will be finished in thirty minutes." Mario said.
"Alright, no problem." I walked to the waiting area, there were three persons waiting.
"Hello." I said in a cheerful voice.
No one answered, I shrugged and walked straight to the coffee machine. Poured my self a cup and sat in the empty chair in the corner.
I sent a messge to Dwight.
Me: Hey, pumpkin. You must be busy, but I hope you're ok and that every thing is ok.
Me: **Sends naked pic**
Me: Just wanted you to know that I miss you so much.
I didn't get a reply, I wasn't expecting one anyway. I figured he would be busy collecting samples.
After finishing my coffee, I sent a quick message to Fiona.
Me: Hey are you free tomorrow after work?
She responded immediately.
Fiona: Yes, Barney's? 5:30?
Me: Yes, I want to give you a run down about what happend in court with Matthew. Plus Dwight left, he's sailing the seas, well for work anyway.
Fiona: I was just about to ask you sailing to where and why are you here and not with him.
Me: lol if only I could go.
Fiona: I have something to tell you
Me: oohh, what is it about?
Fiona: I'll tell you when i see you tomorrow.
Me: I'm so curious now, tell me.
Fiona: No tomorrow.
Me: Curiosity gnawing at my door now.
Fiona: Curiosity killed the cat.
Me: Well it never killed my cat.
Fiona: Well I'm killing your cat. Lolololol.
Me: lolol that's not nice. How's Dom?
Fiona: He's fine. Trying to finish my report and you're distracting me. Later.
Me: Fine. Later.
I got up from my seat, paid the receptionist and collected my car, my car smelled so clean and fresh.
On my way back to work, I stopped to get a salad at John's Cafe.
Walking into my office, a large bouquet of red roses sat on my desk. I quickly put the salad on my desk and grabbed the flowers, thinking they were from Dwight.
After smelling them, realization dawned on me. Dwight is out at sea, how would be able to pull this off. Search the bouquet for a card, I noticed a small card tucked deep between the stems.
'Looking lovely today Amelia'
I paled a little, then immediately composed myself and threw the bouquet into the trash.
"I dont have time for your games Matthew." I muttered.
I decided that I wasnt going to let him ruin the rest of my day, I grabbed my salad and got to work.

Walking into the apartment at 8:45pm, I was so tired. My back and shoulders ached, my neck was sore and stiff. I needed a long hot shower to rid me of these pains.
I dropped my bag on the ottoman beside the bed, I rubbed my neck as I walked to the bathroom.
Feeling relaxed and less achy, I got my phone from my bag and flopped in bed.
Three missed calls from Dwight. I tried calling him back, but it kept going to voicemail. I gave up and placed the phone on the nightstand.
Drifting off to sleep, my phone beeped. I didn't bother to look at it.
Unknown: you always did look so peaceful when you were sleeping. See you soon my love.
