"Who was that!?" Demanded Xóchitl
"Once again Xochi, I am in the exact same position. It's not like I can float on my side to see if someone is in here...hello?" called out Aspen
"Yeah I'm here. Name is Bill." replied a husky southern voice.
"Umm Bill where are we and how do we get down?" asked Aspen
"Well seeing as how I'm in the same predicament as you right now I darn well couldn't tell you the answer to most of that question. Silver lining is I dropped down to the floor after about 15 minutes. Don't know if it'll relieve you some. There ain't an outlet far as I could tell. I tried walking around but I couldn't find a wall or an edge no where."
"We're gonna die!" wailed Xochi
"uh huh and umm how long have you been here exactly?" asked Aspen ignoring Xóchitl wailing and crying
"I couldn't tell ya that. Seeing as how there is no window I have no clue. No way to keep time ya see. I don't have my cellphone as I was more distracted by a UFO abducting my country ass."
"I told you it was abducted." quipped Aspen. Xóchitl wails only became louder.
"Ya wouldna happen to know how to shut er up?" questioned Bill from the dark. Aspen sighed.
"Xoch, calm down.... we need a plan. What was the day you were abducted?" asked Aspen
"It was near 5pm in Wyoming on August the 12th. I should know, the wife always rings the dinner bell at 5:30 like clockwork, and my tummy started to growl somethin fierce. She gonna be hotter than pepper when she finds out I'm gone. Damn woman already reckons I have a I have a crush on every woman from Wyoming to Colorado. I told her 'ain't nothing wrong with being friendly.' Truth is I'm a friendly individual....less you make me angry..." Bill continued to ramble on.
"We are in same time zone. We were abducted around 11pm on August the 15th." speculated Aspen "Do they feed you?" she asked
"Yeah they do surprisingly well, food looks a bit strange but it's edible. I had this green stuff that taste like the best steak I've ever ate." started Bill.
"Bill dear.... before you say something else. How do they feed you." Interrupted Xóchitl following Aspens train of thought.
"It's sorta like round silver ball that just appears around me I don't even know how it shows up it's just all of a sudden appears."
"Damn" Xochi replied "There goes that plan. Why can't we see you? Do they experiment on you? What do the aliens look like?" fired off Xóchitl
"Now Imma stop you right there. First of all, when I introduced myself, now where I come from, people are polite and all and generally introduce themselves back. You girls sound nice and all but I don't even know your names. Second, I have not made contact with the aliens. Despite my hollerin and hootin, no one has come to check on me or to tell me to keep my raucous down. You gals are my first company since this giant ball of light and fire came down. Which leads me to my next point. Ain't no one had experimented on me as far as I can tell. Lastly, I don't know why I can't see you two. Despite, me searching for your voices you sound like you're an echo in a room from where I'm standing. Like I said it's a big room with no walls over here. At this point y'all should be able to rotate like your in water." stated Bill
"How rude of us my name is Xóchitl, my friends name is Aspen."
"Pardon what did you say your name was?..."
"Xóchitl" replied Xochi elongating each sounds
"Okay Sophie"
"No it's more like Soooo...chee" she tried to correct
"Right so Sofie and Aspen where you both from?"
"Colorado" they replied in unison. An exasperated Xóchitl let out a loud sigh and tried rolling on her back. People never got her name right. As she attempted to roll she found it incredibly easy to twist and turn. She could flip her suspended self in any position. It was like Bill had said they could rotate themselves like water. She turned her excited eyes to see Aspen had of course already figured out this little nugget of information. Aspen would often do this to Xóchitl forcing her to problem solve life's problems on her own. It boiled Xochi's blood sometimes as it did now. "Why didn't you tell me we could move" she accused as she looked at Aspen who was already sitting with her legs outstretched and crossed. One hand resting neatly on her legs the other placed under her chin as she was deep in thought.
"Xóchitl I'm trying to wrap my brain around the fact that we have been abducted by aliens. I'm sorry I didn't think about telling you to try to move I assumed you would figure it out. And I was right." replied Aspen Xóchitl stuck her tongue out at Aspen. It was strange that they could see one another but not Bill. He was obviously a human from earth. Why did they want three humans? The three humans began to speculate within themselves their current predicament. Would they ever see their families? Would they live to tell the tale? As Bill promised after what felt like an eternity. They were finally able to stand on a hidden ground. The girls after feeling something hard beneath their feet rushed to each other's arms. "Okay lets see if we can find Bill" whispered Aspen into Xóchitl's.
"BILL!" yelled Xochi into the abyss. Aspen stared at her with wide eyes. "What!?" asked Xochi.
"Over here keep making noises I'll find you!" screamed Bill from another direction. The girls started walking in the direction of his voice screaming over and over and over again. It wasn't to long before an enormously tall figure appeared from the abyss. Running towards the sound of the calling women.
