Chapter 40 - Beg for mercy

Little Bunny smiled joyfully as he stared at the tall man who was kicked out of the house. His aunt was the best and she knew what makes him happy. He just wanted that bad Uncle to vanish from his sight and his favourite aunt Jinyan was doing the same for him.

"I love aunt Jinyan the most" he muttered to himself with a cheerful smile on his face.

"Wu Jinyan...listen to me" Seeing how he was getting treated, Gu Zichen realized he should explain and apologize to her immediately but his words were stuck within his throat and he was thrown out of the house irrespective of how much he resisted.

Wu Jinyan glared at the tall figure standing on the other side of the door for one last time before slamming the door tight. His eyes were filled with a complex of emotions like pain, sorrow and regret but she pretended like she didn't see them. If she didn't stay strong and swayed on seeing his sorrowful face just to act as per his wishes again, then there would be no one in this world who could surpass her in stupidity.

How dare he mess with her, huh? She's no more the same silly, dumb woman to wag her tail to his interest.

Until she feels he realized his mistakes and changed for good, she wouldn't let him come near her and wouldn't forgive him, atleast she wouldn't forgive him for now.

She was a stupid woman to think of him as Prince Charming who would always stay by her side and care for her like a lovely husband. Now on experiencing the pain, she understood that he was simply a cold hearted and indifferent demon who loves to play with innocent people's feelings.

Wasn't she the best example? Once was enough, she didn't want to get fooled again. Steeling her heart with determination, she breathed deeply.

"Little Bunny, you had your lunch?" She asked staring at the clock on the wall when she felt a little hungry. She stayed in the hospital for a week living on fluids and it's time for her to regain her normal lifestyle. It's already lunch time and she was worried if the kid had eaten anything. She knew very well that this cheeky kid sometimes becomes too excited, he would sometimes forget to have his meals on time until someone personally fed him.

"I'm..not hungry" The little guy lied but his little stomach grumbled immediately, betraying him. He smiled embarrassingly covering his roaring stomach. He just came back from his kindergarten when he saw Gu Zichen entering the apartment building from a corner. Throwing his bag inside his room, he picked the bat from the playroom before rushing behind Gu Zichen into Wu Jinyan's house. He was so occupied with his emotions, he didn't feel any hunger until now.

Chuckling softly, Wu Jinyan patted the child's head before walking towards the refrigerator to see if she had enough to cook a proper meal. She wasn't at house for a week and she didn't know what her refrigerator had in store.

All she found were rotten veggies and half a bottle of spoiled milk. With a gloomy face, she sighed as she picked the spoiled ingredients to discard them into waste bin. 'One couldn't use anything beyond it's shelf life and one couldn't go beyond his/her limits in winning someone's heart'

No matter how much she tried, she was sure she couldn't satisfy the kid's little tummy with an empty plate. She decided to have lunch outside and buy some groceries on the way back for dinner.

She hadn't seen her mobile and purse since she woke up and didn't know who had them. She couldn't waste her time searching now. So, she grabbed some cash she saved for emergency before walking towards the door with the child.

"Why are you still here?" As soon as she opened the door, a familiar figure came into her view. She was slightly surprised to see him still standing outside her house. But her voice instinctively turned cold emphasising that she was not in good terms with him.

'Was he still here to beg for her mercy? But wasn't it a bit late? And for what reason, will he beg her to excuse him?

For marrying her even when he had a girlfriend? For toying with her feelings? For making her a fool?

Even if he lacked shame and begged her to forgive him for everything he did so far, she wasn't a saint to let go of everything with a simple sorry thinking "Let bygones be bygones"

She forgot her past struggles in Wu family but she didn't forgive the people who hurt her. She was simply waiting for a perfect chance to take revenge on them. Likewise until she taught this man a lesson for the pain he caused her, she wouldn't even dream of pardoning him.

"Wu Jinyan...I was just..." Gu Zichen always thought he was good with words but at the moment he felt like a moron. He mentally prepared a long paragraph to explain his side of the story but on seeing her the paragraph in his mind was blurred instantly.

'Weren't women known to be soft hearted? But why was this woman so hard to appease?' He didn't know what could make her to forgive him.

He was disregarded once again and Wu Jinyan walked past him towards the elevator. Turning around, Little Bunny poked his tongue out to tease the man and giggled seeing his misfortune. 'Didnt you say you forgot the promise you made to me? Now you know the pain of being neglected? hmph' the little one scoffed in his heart.

Gu Zichen ran to catch up with her, but she was a step ahead and closed the elevator door before he could get in. He took the next elevator but she was nowhere to be seen by the time he walked out. He got into his car and kicked the road in search for her.

From behind a wall, both Wu Jinyan and Little Bunny giggled watching the luxury car rushing out of the apartment building. Wu Jinyan was relieved that he wouldn't follow behind and disturb her.

She had a simple meal with little bunny in the nearby restaurant and visited the supermarket before returning home.

...

"You're back home" Wu Jinyan felt her head exploding when she heard the voice on opening the door. Least she wanted to see now was him. Unfortunately he was there seated gracefully in her living room with his long legs crossed casually giving out an aura of superiority and dominance.
