Currently- I am Sir Rosé personal servant, carrying shopping bags filled with designer clothes and makeups. The young lord; or prince; whatever he is- right now is happily skimming through the makeup sets of eyeshadows, lipsticks- in different variety of shades. He wore with him a satisfied smile when he took the colours that suited his palate.
"I don't understand," I said. "Why go through all of this trouble- when you make your own makeup and even sew your own clothes?"
"Because we're going somewhere!" He said. "And I want to spend time with you!"
"You dragged me here after you messed other people's memories!" I almost shouted. The whimsical boy clapped and hummed in amusement. "That I did, but also- you didn't attempt to resist it either; so what is the truth?"
"The truth is if I did resist, you'd smack me and still drag me here."
"See? It's futile!" The doll-like prince huffed. "No matter what you do, I'd still drag you back!" I groaned at his words. "Yes, but still- don't do such things next time."
"I won't!" he giggled. "By the way- are we jumping to a time period of the case?" I asked. He nods. "Well- in my world, murders with weapons don't happen frequently, since they prefer magic- much less for a case like this. So maybe by exploring the human world for a bit, I could draw the line of comparison of the 'Sleeping Beauty' cases."
"Any time period in particular...?"
He gave me a curious smile. "1800s London," he said. "As much as I am interested in the Sleeping Beauty case in that time, I'm also interested in the human norms and customs there too!"
"Is. Is that why we're going clothes shopping-?"
"mhm," He nods. "And I noticed the young lords there wear clothes that suited my fashion style, so I want to see if I could blend in better with clothes similar to them." He smiled- a twinkle in his glass eye suggests his plans- cunning ones no doubt- is already in play. "And if we're lucky, we might catch a glimpse of the notorious two-faced nobles and the Queen herself."
It seemed an interesting- even though the latter was just a ploy to uncover the dark secrets of the London Underground, I'm sure sir Rosé is also looking for something in that time as well.
Maybe - it could be something that connects to his mother and his overall novel of life?
"You know, Yuuto-chan," He said- after we finished our shopping and heading towards his house. "I have to thank you for putting up with my antics."
"What do you mean?" I asked- still carrying his shopping bags. He was walking further from me- in front; while I am at the back with the bags. As we passed- the discoloured roses, people with the cards' symbols on their faces walked about, mindless chatter in English. This place is what Sir Rosé had called the Rose Kingdom- just within the continent which is Wonderland.
I could pick up some of the things they're saying.
"-the twins born in the Valley of Thorns bore the blood of their King and a dark fae. A pureblooded pair of miracles."
"-I wonder if the King had forgotten for his firstborn son."
"-the son was so beautiful too. But a shame that he is born a Flower of Evil."
"-the lord whose mother is a human."
I gritted my teeth. Sir Rosé quiet walks- with only the heels of his shoes clicked on the cobblestone path. From the back; he looked lonely, as if no one wanted to stand by him.
It was a terrible thing. I know I could never understand him. He was a being; a creature born to a world riddled with judgement by not only strangers, but also- if I could guess- probably his own wards and servants.
I walked faster; quickly reaching for his hand; and pulled him to walk faster with me; while I am still holding and carrying the shopping bags. Pulling him away from the words of those strangers; we stopped when it was clear that we're in a quiet part of the street.
While I was holding his hand; I noticed; that it was very much cold.
He wasn't even fighting the grip.
I turned to face him. "How could those people say such things!" I growled. "Right in front of you too- as if they don't have any shame!"
"Yuuto-" and I ignored him. My rants grew louder and more driven by anger until-
"Yuuto-chan!" He shouted. I stopped and turned to him. He held a hard- yet sad look on his face; before it was replaced with a sigh and a smile.
"It's alright, Yuuto-chan." He said. "I'm used to it."
I'm sure- I had a look of concern and shock. This young lord is used to such harsh words. Especially from strangers. The smile he had on his face was a kind, reassuring one.
I wanted it to stay that way.
"Back then, my Mother also got the same treatment," He said. "And I'd laugh at it. Now that she's gone, I know how she felt. And I accepted it as something I have to face head on." He patted my arm. "Either way- the people of Rose Kingdom will soon realise it."
Some people weren't meant to be born Royalty. I know of this because of the actual world's current monarch is just as corrupted as the politicians. But even so, to know that Sir Rosé was a royalty by default- that too had never crossed my mind.
He smiled to me. "Now come on. We have work to do."
He took my hand gently and held it like a child would - and together, we returned to his home.
