Chapter 58 - Side Tracking

"Oh, I forgot to ask Emma about the raid." I sighed.

I had wanted to ask her about the raid. But considering her, I could easily convince her; plus, she would likely agree.

I didn't dwell on it for too much, I wanted to find Dave first; and nothing was getting in my way.

Finding Dave shouldn't be that hard; this village wasn't that big. It only had like 300-400 houses in it.

Plus, if I ever have trouble finding him. I could just boost my sense to find him, though, that's likely not going to happen.

I hated to use my true senses, they were too much. And it wasn't just me, everyone above top F-rank didn't want to use their true senses.

"Well, I can use this as an excuse to explore a little." the village was small, so it would just take a minute or two for me to explore the entire village. Plus, with that, I can find Dave much easily.

It was a win-win situation.

"I'm so smart!" I said to myself, very satisfied.

I then started to slowly walk towards the center of the village, as Osiric's and Rind's house were pretty far out.

I then stopped.

"Wait, this village… it doesn't have walls." I said, confused.

It was something I should've realized way sooner. And was something that shouldn't have gone under my radar.

In this world, there were monsters.

But, not only that. Monsters were also very strong. Compared to an average person, they were miles above them.

Heck, even goblins, one of the weakest species of monsters, were stronger than an average adult – and by a huge margin at that.

It actually ruined the immersion I had, which was very helpful since I had almost gotten killed by goblins and would've if Osiric hadn't saved my ass.

And the final nail in the coffin was that monsters were common, no, dangerously common. Since we walk with our aura on, I, Emma, and Osiric don't have to worry about monsters coming and attacking us.

Even if a monster dared to attack us, unless it was higher than high intermediate, it would probably get one-shotted.

But that wasn't the case for a village.

So, many villages – even though it was expensive – would spend most of their capital to build and reinforce the wall – and like normal, the reinforcement was 90% of the money.

Then I realized another thing, it was something even dumber than not knowing that there weren't walls surrounding the villagers.

It was that there was a person living in a two-story house that could easily destroy the entire planet if pleases to – or a chunk of it, appraisal didn't do shit, and that was its main function!

'Goddamnit! appraisal!' I was very dissatisfied with this skill, it was literally spitting on our faces by being a so-called "legendary" skill when you can get even better results by just reading books.

I felt very dumb for not realizing Rind was living in this village, and that the villagers should know about him - after all, even though he was disowned he was a duke's child and a saint classer at that.

And that they would gladly not build a wall if they didn't need to – a mage's secondary job was to be a shark, after all.

"What am I kidding, I am probably going to be like that one day." I grinned maliciously as I thought about the profits I could make by sharking people for money.

It was immoral, but, it was their problem for being too inept for not being a mage and not having the monopoly over reinforcement magic.

I then turned towards Rind's house – it was just on the other side of the stone road.

"It's pretty similar." I said.

Quickly remembering that these two houses were built to be similar.

I then looked at Rind's garden. He had said that this was his new hobby and that he liked gardening a lot.

In his own words, "It's a relaxing activity, that helps me calm myself! It's akin to bathing in the boiling blood of my enemies as I rip their throats and tear their flesh whilst they're alive and feel joy as I hear their screams of agony! Oh, the sweet memories!"

Aside for the last part, I totally agreed with him. Though, it was still weird to think that a sadistic psycho like Rind would like a wholesome activity like farming.

I then smiled wryly as I slowly went towards the garden. I wanted to get a better view of the garden. After all, I wanted to see what kind of things could a person with level 7 in their farming skill do.

"Whoa!" I exclaimed.

There wasn't much in his garden. It had a small fence covering it – with elementary reinforcement applied by Rind, as it was his limit – and was pretty small in size.

There also weren't a lot of crops; there only were some tomatoes, cabbages, lettuces, and onions.

And the thing that those vegetables shared in common was their size.

They were massive, each of the tomatoes were as big as a baby's head, the cabbages were as big as footballs, the lettuces were massive, and even though I couldn't see the onions, I knew that they were massive as well.

But, not only that, but they also looked delicious.

I wanted to try them out, and the only way I was going to be trying them out was to ask Rind, which should be pretty easy. I just need to knock on his door and call him, like a normal person.
