Chapter 41 - Kreg Village

It was time to leave. We didn't have to pack up anything - after all, we had our cards. Dave, on the other hand, needed to get his carriage ready, so we had to wait for him.

"This time you guys don't have to hold back that much, you can run at... at about 60km/h this time's delivery is pretty strong, so it won't be a problem. I think it's going to be the horses that are going to be holding you back." Dave pointed to his carriage, notably his horses.

"Well, we don't mind it; I mean going at Mach speed is pretty useless for this short of a distance." I answered him casually, I then turned towards Osiric.

Osiric was pretty happy. It was pretty evident, since, he had a massive grin plastered to his face.

We all were quite surprised to see him like that, especially me and Emma, after all, we had never seen him this excited to go somewhere before.

Well if we considered the amount of stress, the stress for the soul, he would love to go to his home and meet up his mother - whom he loved the most.

I then turned towards Dave, "We should probably get going."

Dave nodded, he then went to the coach box and sat down. He readied his horses and checked if there was anything wrong. After he was satisfied, he gave me a thumbs up. And with that, we started moving.

We slowly accelerated to the full speed, we could've done it within a second; but doing so would leave Dave behind. His horses couldn't use magic, after all.

We were walking on a road that was properly covered in stone. The stone was pretty good, if I had to guess it would be better than asphalt. It was very smooth and used such magic that made another force similar to friction so that the vehicles - which were mostly carriages - stick to it better.

I really didn't want to think too much about it, after all, there was a lot of science going on. This made me realize how scientists would have a clear advantage over other people.

Since you can do soo many things to make your usage of flow more efficient by using to break or just completely ignore some laws of physics.

I also saw some other carriages, though they were way slower than us. They were even staring at us with shock.

The reason for that was that getting as rich as Dave meant you were way above average, heck, even F-rank adventurers were above average.

About 80% of the races in this world were normal humans, meaning they weren't jumping around destroying mountains and throwing out nukes.

Though there were some who were moving even faster than us. Also, the reason we weren't bumping into other people was because of something called hyperpositioning.

It was like superpositioning, but even more fucked up. So people would be existing and not existing at the same time, it was pretty trippy. But that thanks to our mind being modified it didn't basically break us - there were examples of otherworlders just getting seizures after seeing someone hyperposition.

We were going at a uniform pace, I then started to look at the armor - the reason we had met Dave this morning.

I and Emma were currently wearing the blue mage armor. Though Emma's was a little different than mine - that's due to magic, also due to that, we won't be able to enchant this to its limit.

That was the reason people would sometimes pay 100s of gold coins to make themselves a custom armor and weapon.

In terms of me, the armor consisted of a cloak, a coat, trousers, and a pair of gloves, and shoes.

Every piece of clothing was blue. They also had the same black outline. The clothes also sometimes had white and other shades of blue in it.

All in all, it looked pretty cool. It would perfectly fit in an RPG setting.

There also was uses for its cool look, some monsters won't fight you if you don't look good. Especially the ones who are sentient - they also won't get affected that much by Osiric's curse, though they will still get pretty pissed of by just seeing him being near them.

Now, setting aside its appearance, its stats also were pretty good.

With the entire set equipped, it gave us 475 magic, 1800 mana, 60 strength, 50 agility, and finally, 275 defense.

Well if we compare the entire set to Osiric's katana, then the set would beat it in terms of stats. But the katana would still be better since it can get stronger, has skills, and can evolve.

Though, that wasn't the case right now. So we were all about equal in our raw power output; though if you really wanted to know our ranking it would be me, Osiric, and finally, Emma.

Though the difference that wasn't too massive that we didn't have a chance to win against each other. Though the chance of me winning against Osiric was 20%, and Emma winning against me was 40%.

The example just goes to show how much talent Osiric had and just how broken we as otherworlders were. Osiric's talent is probably in the 0.1% and we were still equal to him in terms of raw strength.

Then after we had reached the 5-minute mark, Emma talked to Osiric about our world's history, notably the world wars.

Osiric was super interested in anything related to history, he had even read every book about history in his village's library. And all the history books his mother and teacher had given him.

So you bet that Osiric was excited to learn new history, not of his own, but another world's.

I didn't like history at all, it was a chore for me. Though Emma still liked it, so she and Osiric really got started when they started to talk about history.

The reason Emma was talking about our world's history and not worrying about Dave was because of magic and we were actually about 10 meters away from the carriage.

Though we were in a formation that resembled a triangle turned upside down. With Emma in the middle and me and Osiric by each other's side.

Then Emma and Osiric's conversation evolved, no, devolved to conspiracy theory on how some guy's death resulted in the creation of one of the biggest - cringe and pornable, as well - medium of entertainment.

And Osiric was even interested in that, this made me lose a little faith in him; but it wasn't enough for me to say that he wasn't my friend.

It was just like how you feel when your friends does some stupid shit - which was always, since my only friend is Emma.

After "walking" for a bit, I could see something on the horizon. There were small houses littered around, those houses' numbers were also small. In simple words, it looked like a village.

"Os!" I called him, he turned towards me and nodded his head a little. I then pointed at the village, I knew he could see it, "Is that it?" I asked.

"Sorry, Emma." Osiric apologized to Emma, "Don't worry about it." she replied.

Then Osiric turned towards me, he couldn't hide the joy on his face so I already knew the answer, and replied, "Yep, that's Kreig village, the place I was born in."

I then nodded, smiling for him. I was super happy for him. I didn't care much about my family, they could go fuck themselves for all I cared. But, Emma did have a loving family; so it was going to be a little hard for her – though I was confident that she could pull through. Osiric didn't know about hers and mine – that's because I didn't want to bring up the topic for Emma – family situation; so even though she hid it, I could notice that she was a little anxious on the inside.

Osiric had also noticed it, but didn't want to tell ask why. He understood that doing so would be a huge landmine.

"Well then… I should probably tell Dave this." I muttered to myself.

I had to inform Dave because he couldn't see the village, since he didn't have the skills and senses to do so. This just goes to show how different classes can impact a person's strength. That's because Dave has classed up once so he and we were on the same class level, he was even higher leveled than us. But since his class was about commerce he didn't get a lot of bonus class for combat-related activities.

Though it was kinda unfair to compare him with us, since I was confident that I could beat an average scout who was at the same level as us, maybe even higher.

I then fast-walked to the front of the carriage; I turned towards Dave and called him, "Dave!"

He then turned towards me and replied with confusion his voice, "Why?"

He didn't worry about the horses currently; he was confident that he would be able to make sure accidents don't happen and if they did we would help him - the only accidents that could happen were the horses getting out of control.

"The village is getting closer." I then pointed at the village, it was near enough that he could probably see it. "Oh!" he looked at the village.

"Ok, that was all. See you later!" I then slowed down a little so that Emma and Osiric would catch up to me. They did, and we again started "walking" together.

After a while, we started to slow down. We slowed down because the village was getting closer and the horses couldn't use magic – meaning they couldn't give the laws of physics the finger.

"We are getting closer!" Osiric couldn't hold his excitement and he exclaimed with joy.

I and Emma smiled at him, since it was quite a rare sight for him to say something out due to sheer excitement. I mean after all the mental stress he had built up, going to meet up with his mother and his teacher – who was like a father to him, or the closet one – should be pretty exciting.

Then we stopped, I then went to Dave, "Tyler!" he called me out.

I nodded, showing that I heard him, "We have reached your friend's village, does your friend know a place where I can put my horses and my carriage? I will like my carriage to be a little safer."

The reason he said that was because the delivery – which he still couldn't tell us about – was pretty important so he couldn't lose them. I then nodded and went to Osiric.

I then explained what Dave had said. He then nodded and went to Dave.

"Osiric, do you know where I can put my carriage and the horses?" he asked, Osiric nodded and said, "You can put your horses and the public stable and your carriage at my house, don't worry I will pull the carriage."

The reason why we weren't pulling the carriage was because it was embarrassing and all the lords, true lords, royalties, nobilities, and finally, the guilds throughout the world had declared that unless the said person was your slave you won't be able to force them to do tasks that are deemed unembarrassing or morally wrong.

Pulling the carriage was embarrassing and we didn't need to go that fast – and that his carriage would get destroyed in five days if we pulled it, I mean it was pretty hard to use magic on a foreign object that isn't your equipment.

And going at Mach-5 is pretty damaging, especially since the carriage wasn't aero.

I was a little excited to meet his mom, Emma was too. But she was still a little sad on the inside, that's the reason I didn't talk with her about Osiric's mom. She would get sad and miss her parents. It was kinda depressing to watch her, so, I turned towards Osiric and Dave, I wanted to give her some space and also knew that she could manage it.
