Jordan looking at the disturbed captain and crumbling team he lets out a sigh before speaking, "all right everyone, we have three options right now, we can stay here and wait to die to one of these things, or we can go down back to the large one that is holding off the bugs and hope it has left, or go forward and try to fight the smaller one and hope there is an exit or saferoom we can use and wait for backup." He said to the still in shock eight other soldiers.
The captain begins speaking, "we should cross go back the way we came off the list. Even if that huge thing is gone, there are still plenty of monsters besides the insects and that huge thing. We were lucky enough to get through with what we had. Staying here will just be us waiting to die. That thing will come back for us, and I'd rather we try to find a way for us to fight back because even though we did some damage to it rapidly learned to counter us."
Alice looks up, still going through her bag, looking for anything that could be useful in it before speaking, "We should quickly do a count of all our current supplies. Maybe I can make something that can do some damage to it."
One of the soldiers from another team with a large bandage over his right eye and tears across his uniform stained in blood from previous fights sits down before pulling out a cigarette and lighting it before taking a deep breath before puffing out a cloud before speaking, "you guys do what you want I am staying right here. I am not going to make it regardless of my injuries. I would only be holding you back."
Everyone looks at the soldier, and one of them speaks, "come on, we made it this far, why not go a little more?" looking down at the man still smoking.
In response, the only thing he did was take off his shirt, revealing red bandages dripping with blood before saying, "My wounds opened up. I am going to die soon, whether I want to or not. Might as well get comfortable." Just afterward, he throws up a bunch of blood. "the only reason I lasted as long as I did is that I played dead while the rest of my team was killed and waited for what I could only assume to be a mutated dog, besides the end won't be all that painful for me." He pulls out his last grenade, "besides if anything does come down I can still buy you guys some time."
Everyone looks down at him with eyes full of sympathy. The captain takes a knee looking the dying soldier in the eye before taking out a new cigar saying, "if you're going out, use this."
The man takes the cigar and nods, putting out his old one before lighting the new one.
The rest of the soldiers quickly checked their supplies, realizing they are extremely low or out of everything. They all collaborate before saying we got four grenades, 23 clips, a flamethrower canister, and a makeshift blowtorch.
The captain quickly begins forming a plan for once, asking Alice, "can you turn the blow torch into a makeshift flamethrower?"
Quickly looking through her tool back, she takes out a few tools before saying, "I can make one, but it will only be able to do it in short bursts."
Taking a moment to think, he says," do it." He then pays his attention to the rest of the soldiers "Alright men, bullets don't work on that thing, but we can assume that fire can, from now on, bullets will be used as a diversionary tactic to keep it at bay. Grenades are to be used from when it is in the open. If we are going to do this, we are going to do this in a way that scares it off or killing it."
The men, finally seeing some form of hope, scream, "Yes sir!" quickly getting to work loading their guns and Jordan nods in approval. Once again, letting their guards down, one Jordan is lifted rapidly into the air before blood rains down on everyone.
Quickly looking up, the captain says, "Open fire!" everyone starts shooting into the vents once more, trying to either scare it off or harm it to hear a loud resounding screech before it exploded out of the vents forming a gaping maw and numerous yellow eyes. The creature was holding nothing back, heading flinging people out of the way heading straight for Alice.
Seeing this, the dying soldier with the cigar still lit pulls the clip in the grenade and runs straight towards the creature before screaming, "Your not going to kill anyone else!" before he was whipped down the hallway at high speeds going above Alice with the grenade in hand to the other side of the hallway before blowing up causing the everyone including Alice to be pushed forward.
The minion finally stops right in front of Alice and the captain after critically injuring everyone else. It opens a massive maw, but this time without any teeth. It captures her before running in the direction of the enormous monster.
The captain and Alice, unsure of their fate, hear screams outside the minion. Still, they could feel the minion vibrating and hopping up and down, shaking them.
This eventually stops as they are spewed out in front of the giant creature, completely engulfing the hallway, and finally stopped growing.
Their captor jumps up and down like crazy, acting like a dog happily jumping up and down in front of the large mound of flesh before. The larger mass has quickly opened a largemouth before pushing out a tendril towards them.
Out of sheer desperation, looking at the giant wall of flesh, she screamed, "Do you want to get out of here!?"
The captain gave her a look quickly give her shocked looked before telling her, "We can't let this thing leave here alive!"
The large wall shakes a little, and the little one engulfs the captain once more. A tendril comes out of the large one as if gesturing to continue.
Alice quickly takes the hint and begins talking, "We know a pathway to get out of here, but there are many monstrous creatures in here, some of which are even more threatening than those insect things in here if you are willing to spare me and the people with us we will show you a safer way out."
What felt like the longest few minutes of her life passed as she said this, a cold sweat coming out of her as she looked at the giant mound of flesh in pure terror as the fate of both her and all the remaining people she came with hinged on this.
The large mass of flesh looks down at the soldier in front of it, seemingly pondering its option. The little one apparently starts jumping up and down again before putting down a tendril in the direction they came from. It shakes once before letting the captain out and hopping down the hallway from which it came.
With the face of cold anger, the captain looked at her "what did you do?" with eyes filled with so much fury it looked as though he would kill her in a second.
She shakingly says, "I think I got us a ticket out of here."
The man looks at the giant mound of writhing flesh in front of, grabbing a small pistol from his back, aiming it at the god. But before he could even pull the trigger, a large tendril with a mouth on it goes and bites the arms off.
The man screams in agony as blood oozes out of his arms while Alice took out the little blow torch she had yet to turn and cauterizes the wounds to prevent further blood loss. At this moment, they knew they were at the mercy of this vast mound of writhing flesh.
