Chapter 18 - Gem Shop (1)

After Feng Luotian woke up in the next morning, he found himself on the bed, but not his own.

Beside the bed, there was a desk with various medicinal scrolls and dozens of pill bottles on it.

Judging from the room's appearance, he knew that he was in Peacock School's Alchemy Center as he had visited here many times before.

Every once in a while, there would be a famous doctor traveling through the city. They would come to visit and greet Peacock Lord, then the city lord would ask them for a request.

Every time this happened, Feng Luotian would be brought to Alchemy Center to be diagnosed by those doctors, so he was very familiar with the place.

Feng Luotian let out a little smile before someone burst out the door and entered in anxiety: "Luotian, you're up? How are you? Are you hurt anywhere? Wait. What happened to your eyes? When did it turn purple? Does it hurt?"

It was Mei Yue'er who was charging in and arrived at his side in no time. Her eyes were red with dark circles around them. She practically had not slept since last night.

Feng Luotian felt bad a bit as he had caused her to worry this much just by sleeping to avoid troubles, so he replied with a gentle smile: "It doesn't hurt a bit. Thanks."

Mei Yue'er was not the only one coming into the room. Peacock Lord and First Elder also came with her. Sun Wuji walked in a little later, minding his own manner in front of the seniors.

"Greetings, Uncle M—" Feng Luotian immediately sat up and tried to get off the bed to perform a salute.

However, Peacock Lord waved his hand: "It's okay, Tian'er. No need for formality."

"How are you holding up, Brother Feng? Yesterday was a crazy day for me, but you had it even crazier." Sun Wuji joked as he greeted his friend.

"Yue'er, Wuji, I am fine. But what exactly has happened? Why am I here, at Alchemy Center?" Feng Luotian calmly replied before acting ignorance.

"Your house was hit by lightning last night. It happened at night, so many people witnessed it. They could see the lightning strike from all the way here. After the pavilion was notified of the matter, we quickly headed to your house and found you lay there, out cold on the floor, with your room destroyed." Mei Yue'er recounted.

"I was told the same thing earlier this morning." Sun Wuji confirmed it.

"Oh? Then, is there anything wrong with me?" Feng Luotian asked with expectation. He broke through last night and became a Four Fangs Fighter, but he wanted to tease his friends about whether they would notice it.

In his mind, his friends would, of course, know about it because cultivators of the higher cultivation level would always sense it from someone lower, but in fact ...

"The doctor said there was nothing wrong. We came and checked up on you many times, but we too didn't find anything wrong with you either. Being hit by lightning should be enough to kill you, but … This is so strange. Do you remember anything from last night?" Mei Yue'er replied in confusion.

A confused look also plastered on every face in the room.

As for Feng Luotian, he was stumped by the fact that no one had noticed his cultivation, especially Peacock Lord and First Elder, who had the cultivation levels much higher than him.

Feng Luotian started to doubt himself whether what happened last night was actually a dream and he was still a cripple like before. He looked upon his own hands and tried to exert some Theríon. Suddenly, a notification came from his bloodline.

///// Introducing new feature [Aura Concealment] : Conceal your Theríon completely. Can choose to switch this feature on and off as you wish.

"!!" This bizarre trait stunned Feng Luotian. He had never heard of something like this in the past.

Noticing the slight change, Mei Yue'er asked in worry: "Luotian, is something wrong?"

"Oh? Nothing. The last thing I remembered was I was trying to break through in the training room last night." Feng Luotian answered her question earlier.

Eventually, he chose to hide his cultivation as it would indeed be better to keep this to himself in various aspects for the time being.

Firstly, he was a cripple beyond cure, albeit limited to Divine Bird City's medical capability. A sudden breakthrough would cause a lot of people to pay attention to him, asking him openly or digging for reasons in the dark, not to mention that he broke through several levels in a row. This would cause him more pain than relief, more enemies than friends.

Secondly, what happened yesterday was more than just a breakthrough. Mei Yue'er's assassination was still under investigation. Hiding his cultivation would lower enemies' guard and give him more advantages when they engaged in battle.

Another point to be made was his bloodline itself.

In this world where the strongest reined, it would be best to keep something like trump cards under his sleeve until the time when he absolutely needed to reveal them.

And now that there was more to his bloodline than just breaking through without a bottleneck, surely, the special feat he achieved last night was just a tip of an ice burg, considering that his new bloodline had come from Bloodline Interfusion. He could not wait to try a few more things.

Upon thinking up to here, Feng Luotian decided to test everything possible and started by focusing his attention on Mei Yue'er.

He thought it would be incredible whether he could sense other cultivators' bloodlines. If that was the case, then it would be another mind-numbing feature from this ability of his called Kronos.

An information appeared in his mind even more than he could hope for.

///// Introducing new feature [Bloodline Sensing] : Focus on a person to identify their bloodline and ability.

///// Seven Fangs Thousand Illusion Aurora Peacock

///// [Illusion Clone] : The user can create an illusion clone at the cost of Theríon. The higher level of the clone, the more Theríon it costs. Creating an illusion clone at the same level as the user will cost their maximum Theríon capacity.

"Wow!! How convenient!!" Feng Luotian inwardly exclaimed with excitement as this was indeed another unbelievable feature.

Normally, it was simple for a cultivator to identify other's cultivation level by discerning from their aura. However, the target might have hidden their cultivation with either artifacts, abilities, or skills, making it quite difficult for one to certainly determine the cultivation level of their opponents.

One would have to use a specific identification item or skill to see through such a camouflage.

But, with this feature of Kronos, Feng Luotian could freely ascertain the opponent's power level with one glance.

As for identifying one's bloodline, you needed knowledge, insight, and experience. Color, pressure, aura, and pulsing of Theríon could give clues to one's bloodline.

Even though Feng Luotian had an absolute advantage in this area by being a reincarnator, his new bloodline had beaten him fair and square in this regard because one could only deduce such a thing from Theríon in its active state.

If the user did not burst out their Theríon, there would be nothing to speculate from. Yet, he could tell the exact bloodline without the target showing off their Theríon.

And even though one could somehow determine another's bloodline, discerning the detailed information regarding bloodline ability was a completely different story.

The bloodline ability was the only information no treasure nor knowledge could grasp. One could only ask the owner of that bloodline about it.

Although there were tons of items and techniques that could extract memories from cultivators, the one whose memories were extracted would experience an excruciating pain or might even lose their life in the process.

Another harmless way to do it would be by brainwashing or psychologically controlling one's mind to spill the beans, which was also considered to be unconventional.

Either of the methods was considered to be heterodox and strictly prohibited by the norms in this cultivation world. That was why any record pertaining bloodline abilities would also be regarded as an evil object.

No one would dare to read it, at least openly.

In the end, there would be only a handful of people who had a vast knowledge about bloodline abilities other than their own.

Yet, Feng Luotian, who had not performed neither of those unorthodox methods, could extract such information about the bloodline ability so effortlessly and without the target even noticing.

With this feature, he could calculate their moves, know their intentions, formulate his own plans, and counters them efficiently in battle. Even if he was to fight with a complete stranger, he would have an absolute advantage over others.

"You're next, Wuji." Feng Luotian started to have fun with this situation as he shifted his gaze to Sun Wuji.

Since he had already spent a couple of centuries with Mei Yue'er, he thoroughly knew about her bloodline and its ability a long time ago. So, he was more interested in Sun Wuji's bloodline and ability.

///// Six Fangs Blitz Stone Titan Monkey

///// [Stone Transformation] : Transform the user's body to stone, boosting attack and defense, while the user's speed will be decreased according to how much the body was transformed.

"Blitz Stone Titan Monkey? Isn't that a bloodline of Monkey Immortal clan's side branch? But Wuji said that he doesn't remember his parents nor where he came from. Maybe the story behind this is much more complicated than I thought."

Feng Luotian then looked over at Peacock Lord and First Elder.

///// Five Wings Thousand Illusion Aurora Peacock

///// [Illusion Clone] …

///// Three Wings Thousand Illusion Aurora Peacock

///// [Illusion Clone] …

Both Peacock Lord and First Elder's bloodline and ability were the same as Mei Yue'er's since they were from the same family.

As he was enjoying the show, everyone else felt that he had become weird, staring at them while contemplating something, until Peacock Lord could not help but ask: "Tian'er, are you sure you're alright?"

Waking up from his own thoughts, he hurriedly replied: "Ah, yes. Everything is fine, Uncle Mei."

"Father, I think we should let the doctor check him for another round. What do you think?" Mei Yue'er still could not put her mind at ease. She asked her father's opinion about it.

But before her father answered, the now purple-eyed youth insisted: "Yue'er, I am fine, really. In fact, I'd like to travel outside the city alone for a while." He quickly jumped out of bed and tidied his cloth, ready to go out at any time.
