Before the lightning could even strike him, his body generated into sparks and absorbed the electricity that would hit him. He didn't even tilt his head. It was an automatic reaction. He was immune to his own attacks. It wouldn't be a problem if this happened again and again. However, he can not say this for other people.
There was no experience where he used his power around other vampires. Mostly, it was for safety purposes.
