'You think she's still alive?', a voice whispered, it belonged to a male. 'I hope so', another replied, this time, a woman, 'But I don't see any movement'. Everything was dark but Hel and she saw absolutely nothing but she could still 'feel' the atmosphere around her, it was like she was being cradled by an invisible structure. 'Her dad must've done something to her before putting her in this thing', the man continued to speak, 'Her whole body seemed to be patched up'.
'Poor girl', the woman said her tone sad and full of pity, 'You reckon she could still manage living a normal life?'. 'You know that's an impossible feat Pam', the man argued, 'Xellene's the only place we can keep her at. That's the safest solution for all of us, including the kid'. There was a short silence after that but the woman finally answered, 'I suppose you're right'.
'Now then, shall we begin to fish the child out or are we gonna continue talking?', the man asked and Hel could hear him proceed to wear a pair of surgical gloves. 'I wouldn't be that rash if I were you Devan. The pod's unlike everything I've seen before'. 'Hm, at least we know now that the kid's his then', the man chuckled sadly, 'He always had something up his sleeve and yet he never showed it to anyone'.
'Especially after Megan's death', the woman added, her tone sorrowful as she spoke, 'He didn't even bother to tell us that the child made it'. 'You see any name tags laying around Pam?', the man asked, 'Or don't tell me Justin didn't even give a name to his own fucking kid'. 'Your language Devan', the woman warned although her tone was neutral, 'There's a child in here with us'. 'And to answer your question, no I don't see any here', she concluded which made the man sigh heavily.
'This idiot really had a child and didn't even named the thing', the man began laughing in disbelief. 'Should we name it then?', the woman suggested, 'I'm sure Megan would've preferred that than leaving her daughter without one'. 'A name, huh?', he said as he considered it, 'What about -'. Suddenly, Hel felt everything around her starting to crumble and break but she was still blinded by the darkness. As quickly as it began, the rumbling stopped and everything became deadly quiet, too quiet. She desperately strained her hearing for anything but it was useless, she was alone in her head once again.
'I can't tell if this is real anymore', she thought as the darkness around her conscious thickened but she could only allow it. She was truly tired of trying and yet she would repeatedly find herself holding on. It was slowly becoming a habit, she knew in her heart that there was something stopping her to give up. 'Even after all the torment they've given me, I still wish to live in this world', she thought as she felt herself break down.
Then she jolted awake as droplets of sweat dripped down her forehead. "Was that what they call a dream?", she muttered, still shaken by the unusual event that had transpired. She was back at her cell but that didn't matter because there was something else that had successful caught her attention. 'I made a promise', she urged herself and yet, 'I still want to know'. Hel never had dreams when she slept, this was naively her first experience and she could confirm that it wasn't enjoyable at all.
"...Devan and, Pam", she uttered under her breath, "They saved me". 'They're also the ones that left me here', she thought. Her head had started to hurt again and it made everything feel fuzzy and confusing, she couldn't tell what the dream was and what wasn't. A part of her wanted to hate them for leaving her here but she felt like there was a reason behind it, a good one. 'Maybe they knew who my parent were', she thought, wiping off the sweat from her face as she stood up.
She began shedding off the sweat stained clothing that she was wearing, barely noticing the usual freezing temperature inside the dark cell. Of course, she was aware of the person behind the thick walls of the cubicle but judging by the slow rhythmic beating of it's heart, she was certain that the stranger was fast asleep. 'You better be awake by dawn', she advised the person internally, 'Or Blake won't be happy'.
She was stark naked as she sluggishly walked over towards the shower they provided inside the cell, leaving her dirty clothes on the floor. The shower room was like the usual square shape, painted with the simple and boring colour white. There weren't any shelves or mirror, just a rubber container consisting of some soap with a shower head in the middle of the cubicle. Hel turned on the tap and the water immediately started pouring out of the shower head.
There was an option for hot water but she just couldn't care less, Hel had a very high tolerance when it came to temperatures. The dizziness was still evident in her head and it made her legs too weak to even stand up. Slowly, she slid down to the floor, sitting down as she felt herself grow senseless. 'At least let me get dressed', she pressed trying to get up but the pressure coming from the shower head was too powerful for her current state. A few minutes later, she was knocked out on the wet floor with only the sound of running water being the evidence of any signs of life in the dark abyss of her prison.

"I'll treat you to some ice cream", Celia declared suddenly as we neared the cafeteria, it seemed that she was getting desperate. "Nice try but a petty try like that won't work on me", Max rejected though he did seem intrigued by the offer. A few minutes of silence went by before Celia sighed heavily and said, "I'll buy you the whole fucking container of Breezy Mint Choco from Jen and Berry's, deal?".
"Deal", Max accepted almost immediately, "Let's go right now actually". 'He's got to be kidding, right?', I thought as I watched Max trying to link arms with Celia only to be hit on the head by the smaller female. 'So much for all that I'll always be there for me talk', I thought feeling a slight disappointment despite knowing the outcome. "Whatever", I said brushing Max off coldly, "I'll be on my merry way to the cafeteria then".
I spoke sarcastically to grab Max's attention and fortunately, it worked as the tall blonde said, "O-oh right, Liam! Then let me rephrase". "I'll only say yes to your offer if Liam comes with us too", he seemed proud of himself as he continued his little speech, "And, you have to buy him ice cream too". "Two whole containers of ice cream?", Celia said, looking baffled, "Do you know how much those things cost?".
She glanced at both of our clueless faces as Max said, "Um, no we don't?". "Let me give you a hint then. It's definitely more expensive than it's supposed to be, it's practically a scam at this point", she answered aggressively, making Max and I uneasy. "But how you do know that it's expensive?", I asked out of curiosity. Max started smirking after the question, "Care to explain ma'am?", he was already chuckling before he even finished his question.
Instead of getting angry and punching the life out of the two of us, Celia unexpectedly started blushing, turning bright red. "T-that's none of your concern!", she blurted out, her eyes darting between the floor and the still giggling Max. "A-anyway", she said clearing her voice, "I'm only bringing Max with me and that's final". Max let out a dramatic sigh while rolling his eyes, "You're making me choose between ice cream and my best friend now? You're so, so cruel ma'am".
"Stop calling me that!", Celia shouted at Max, making him smile. 'I'm tired', I thought, realising that I've been constantly on the move since I arrived. 'And now I've got to deal with the problem', I couldn't resist frowning thinking about the possible outcomes. 'At least look on the bright side', I tried cheering up, 'Actually, there's nothing'. "It's alright Max", I spoke finally which stopped the two lovebirds from arguing, "You can go with Celia".
"You sure dude?", Max asked seriously, grabbing my shoulders, "I love ice cream but I can stay if you want me to". "Thanks bud but I know you don't mean that", I said patting his back jokingly, "Have fun". Before Max could say another word, I turned to Celia who was staring at us the whole time and asked, "I'll assume he's already waiting?". She nodded and said to Max, "Let's go". "Ugh, I'm sorry Liam", Max apologised sincerely, "But it's mint choco".
I couldn't help but smile at how pure this gigantic man was, "You better make up for it later Maxwell", I said before walking away to the opposite site. Honestly I felt nervous to go, just something about it didn't sit well with me but it was too late to think otherwise. 'It's just a talk, nothing sinister about that', I thought although it wasn't very reassuring, It is true that I'm one of his favourite students but Blake was someone that not a lot of people could handle, 'Well, fingers crossed I guess'.
