Ardere was in the training hall practicing her usual routine. Kenji wanted to speak with Vincent alone before he left the infirmary and told Ardere to go on ahead since Vincent had informed her that the Head Master had excused her from her daily classes to catch up on lost time with her "Summon" Vincent had told her in quotations as not to anger Kenji.
When Kenji and Vincent had the room to themselves Kenji began to speak.
"Tell me, how advanced is your healing ability?"
"I can heal most injuries with ease, however when it comes to you it's different. You have no mana for me to use to fuel your healing. When I use healing magic I use my Mana as a source to put your body back together and hold it until your body has the strength to hold its self, this process usually takes around five minutes depending on the severity of the injury, but during this process I also use the Mana of the Patient to guide the growth of the skin, muscles, blood vessels and organs, without this guide I could end up making something your body will reject and you could end up in worse condition then when I get you."
"So Mana acts like D.N.A.?" Kenji whispered to himself.
"However as long as you have natural Mana left over from the potion that Ms.Daemonium gave you then I can still use that as a guide to heal you since the Natural Mana will have adjusted to your body and taken on an Aura that will allow it to stay within you."
"I'm sorry. Aura?"
"Yes an Aura is the manifestation of the Mana within your body; the more Mana you posses the stronger the Aura that surrounds your body."
"Yeah I know what Aura is or at least to some extent, does this mean I now have an Aura with a color surrounding it?"
"Yes, I already tested your Aura earlier before the Head Master arrived. It would be useless to give your Aura a measurement since your current Mana Pool is very small considering most of it was used to heal the wounds on your body, but if you like I could tell you the color."
"No it wont matter anyways, since I can only get Mana through potions the color of an invisible force that surrounds me is beyond useless."
"Well actually, Aura can be used to determine a persons personality."
"Yeah, like i said that's still about as useful as a horoscope. Well thanks I guess, I'll catch you later." Kenji turned and began to walk out towards the doors.
"Wait." Vincent said. When kenji turned around Vincent tossed him something wrapped in paper.
"Put that on, the Head Master took the liberty of enrolling you since the situation seemed a bit different from what we are used to."
Kenji ripped open the paper and found a pair of. black pants, a white long sleeve and a blue coat with a black tie. Kenji then looked down and remembered he only had his torn pants and his shirt was long gone, with very few bandages covering his upper body.
Kenji closed one of the curtains to the beds and changed into the clothes. The clothes fit Kenji perfectly and when he opened the curtain he looked down at himself and couldn't imagine that he would look like a blue blood. Kenji felt uncomfortable in the clothes despite how soft they felt, so he rolled the sleeves up his forearm a bit and loosened the tie. he also kept the jacket unbuttoned and the first button of the white long sleeve unbuttoned.
Kenji thought for a moment and realised he looked like someone from the mob; which wasn't his style but was still better than looking like he was raised with a silver spoon in his mouth. despite how many people liked to look rich Kenji was used to looking more casual than anything.
As kenji began to leave once more Vincent spoke again.
"Kenji, when you get the chance to go talk to Dr.Vaughn about obtaining a magic item. He is a researcher in the Academy, he can explain in detail what the magic items can do for you."
Kenji didn't look back as he walked through the doors and just waved back to Vincent, signaling he would do that and finally it was time for Kenji to go to the training hall.
Kenji had been walking for about five minutes now before he realised he had no clue where he was going. Kenji wanted to get out of the infirmary as soon as he could since he hadn't moved in a couple of days and wanted to stretch his legs, but in his haste to move around he not only forgot he had no shirt on and some torn pants he also forgot to ask for directions. Luckily for him Vincent caught him before he left half naked, but that only made him more impatient to walk around and he completely forgot that he had no clue where to go.
"Shit" Kenji whispered to himself as he walked through the maze that was the school. After a while of walking Kenji was beginning to get frustrated, just then Kenji could hear a bell ring with a loud reverb and suddenly the halls began to fill with students only making Kenji's stroll through the twisting maze of halls more difficult as student after student crowded the hall and walked to their next class.
The bell had rung for the next class and Melodi's excitement only grew, just a few more hours and she could talk to her new friend. As Melodi walked out into the hall she closed her eyes and began to hum to herself in anticipation of the hour to come. Then Melodi hit something and fell to the ground dropping the books she carried in her hands as well.
Melodi opened her eyes and saw the scattered books on the floor and heard a voice.
"Are you okay?"
Melodi looked to see a man with light brown skin, blue eyes and short black hair holding his hand out to her. Melodi's heart skipped a beat and her face burned red as she looked at the man, not only was he actually trying to help her off the ground he also had a certain charm. His Uniform sleeves were rolled up, his jacket unbuttoned and his under shirt wasn't buttoned all the way. The man had no respect for the uniform he wore and yet he felt the need to help Melodi off the ground.
Melodi accepted the offer and the man didn't even strain his muscles as he easily lifted Melodi off the ground and to her feet. Then the man knelt down and picked her books off the ground and handed them to her.
"I didn't hurt you did I?" The man said
Melodi was looking at the mans features before he spoke and when he did it snapped Melodi out of her head and back into the moment.
"Huh...oh...um...no." She muttered one word at a time, with each word getting quieter.
"Cool, hey since I got you here do you think you can tell me where the training hall is?"
The man spoke with a casual tone and his eyes weren't piercing like the male nobles instead his eyes seemed kind and cool. That's when Melodi noticed his ears, pupils and teeth. She had never seen a Demon like him before and it suited him well. The man didn't look scary, in fact to Melodi he seemed handsome and strikingly cute.
"Oh...if you go down that way you will find a large double door that leads to the outside when you get outside walk to your right until you find a larger building with several flags on the front entrance, that will be the easiest way to get there from here." Melodi spoke shyly.
Kenji looked down the hallways she pointed to and began to walk, but before he got too far he turned around and smiled to the girl in front of him and said. "thanks" before continuing on.
When he had turned around his casual expression went back to being menacing. He had been walking through the crowd of students when he bumped into one. When he looked down he saw a girl and when he looked around no one seemed to care so he figured she probable wasn't one of the popular students and decided to put on a more casual and friendly expression so he didn't scare her into crying wolf. But Kenji noticed she spoke slow and had a look of shock so he thought maybe his face was less menacing, but his eyes were probable a different story since he always had an angry look in his eyes.
Kenji tried his best to seem friendly to the girl, but it looked like it didn't work so he got strait to the point and asked for directions. When she gave them to him he began to walk away, but then remembered how some people will smile when someone does something for them; he decided to look back and smile at her, but she looked away from him and covered her mouth.
'Well damn I didn't mean to make her cry, I guess if you smile with a pissed off expression it looks like your going to murder someone.' Kenji thought to himself as he followed the girls directions and found his way to the training hall.
When Kenji went inside the training hall it was a large room with several different areas for training with a different environment.
There was a large area full of sand and rocks another area that looked like a pool and many other areas with their own set of equipment. This included an area where one woman stood throwing balls of flames at practice dummies. The woman wore a generic gym outfit; a white short sleeve with black short leggings. Ardere had sweat dripping from her brow as she continued to throw fireball after fireball until she noticed Kenji.
"I was beginning to think you had gotten lost."
Ardere walked over to her belongings and grabbed a towel to wipe the sweat from her face. that's when she noticed Kenji's outfit.
"Did Mr.Locke lend you some clothing until I could send for other attire?" Ardere said as she gestured to the uniform he wore.
"No, from what the doc said; i'm now the first magic less student of a magic school."
Ardere gave a fake smile as she held in her frustration. She had worked hard to get into the academy and barely passed the minimal amount of Mana required. Yet Kenji, a being without a drop of Mana was now a student, and the way he wore his uniform just irritated Ardere even more. He rolled up his sleeves creasing them and left open his jacket to flap in the wind and even left his top collar unbuttoned, with the tie loose around his neck. While Ardere was proud of her uniform and took extra care of her uniform, making sure it kept the elegance it represented Kenji had no respect for it.
Kenji noticed Ardere trying to hide her frustration while looking at him. He had guessed that she was eager to train with him and he took too long so he began to explain the situation.
"I actually did get lost. I ended up leaving the infirmary before I could ask the doc where this place was and got lost for a while."
Ardere sighed. "Well it can't be helped that you don't know your way around the school since you can't infuse a map into your mind. I guess I can buy you a map of the school later."
"What? seriously? you have to buy that shit."
"Well yes how else would someone be compensated for their time and resources making the item?"
"Oh right I forgot, paper and ink probable arent something that's mass produced here."
"I'm not sure about the meaning of those words put together but it doesn't matter. Lets see how we can work as a team."
Kenji and Ardere talked for a bit while Ardere recovered her Mana. Ardere explained to Kenji that he wouldn't be able to use any weapons since the both of them would need to make their own equipment by hunting and harvesting Rogue Beasts. The only way a summon is allowed to wear any type of armor was if it was a magic item, however the only way to make a magic item was to kill a Rogue Beast and use a specific spell to turn their Mana into a crystal that would then be used to make whatever the crystal would best be suited for.
"Hold up you said Rogue Beasts, what's the difference between a Rogue Beast and a Magic Beast?" Kenji asked.
"Well actually there are two types of Magic Beasts; Rogue Beasts and Summons. Summons are the Magic Beasts we summon using our Mana to form a contract with, but a Rogue Beast is a beast made entirely of natural Mana and in turn serve no master and do as they please. These beasts are just like any normal animal except they are far more aggressive and dangerous than any normal animals."
"So we need to hunt down these animals and use a spell to turn their Mana into a crystal to then use as a material in making armor and other such weapons."
"This sounds like a hassle and im not sure I care for doing any of this." Kenji said
"We will eventually have to get you a magic item or two for a grade another time, but until then we will have to figure out how we will fight."
Ardere remembered how he handled himself against the teachers and other Summons when they first met. Ardere then looked to Kenji and once again thought of his features.
"Kenji, I have been meaning to ask. What exactly are you?" Ardere asked.
"I'm human." He replied.
"Kenji I'm not an idiot, it's common knowledge that humans are extinct."
Kenji looked ardere in the eyes and his face turned into confusion.
"What?"
