Chapter 41 - She Was His Light

Everyone who heard these words immediately started checking their own bangles. All of their expressions changed and everyone looked like they had just seen a ghost.

The color on their faces changed rapidly like a rainbow and it was a sight to behold.

Seriously, even if Baili Qingxue wasn't the person who broke the record, no matter how it wouldn't be that useless Yun Qingyan either.

They felt as though their worldview had been destroyed yet again by Yun Qingyan.

All their eyes turned towards the figure who had a relaxed and comfortable expression on her face as she leaned under a shady tree.

They even ignored Baili Qingxue standing next to her.

Yun Qingyan chewed on a blade of grass and leaned lazily against the tree. She didn't care about the contemptuous or shocked looks that were cast at her, instead, her black eyes looked upwards.

The spotty sunshine shone through the tree leaves and she could also see the clear blue skies with no clouds for miles.

A feeling of pride suddenly surged from the bottom of Yun Qingyan's heart.

She stretched her five skinny and weak fingers above her head and clenched her fist as if she had caught hold of something.

Baili Qingxue was also attracted to this sudden movement of hers.

I wish to fly up to the blue skies without having to wander the earth… Yun Qingyan's thoughts drifted as her black eyes narrowed slightly and she suddenly clenched her fist more tightly.

In this life, there would be nothing and there must be nothing to stop her.

Baili Qingxue felt his heart tighten. He suddenly had a feeling that this person before him was going to leave.

There was no expression on that green freckled face, but it was able to make pain and frustration rise from his heart. It felt as though a heavy knife had landed on his heart and it was beginning to throb badly.

This was completely different from how she was just arrogant and flippant earlier.

Yun Qingyan was still immersed in her thoughts of her previous life when she suddenly saw a flash of white before her. The blade of grass she was chewing was removed from her mouth by a long and fair hand.

Her black eyes widened slightly. "Baili Qingxue, what are you doing?!" Her voice was cold, distant, bold, and as arrogant as before.

Baili Qingxue threw the thin blade of grass away from his hands. Now he felt like that bold, flippant, and arrogant beyond belief version of Yun Qingyan had come back.

His heart also relaxed a little.

"Grass is not good for eating." His reply was cold and simple.

Yun Qingyan's expression immediately fell.

Of course, she knew that, she wasn't a cow! She was just chewing the grass to pass time.

She never knew that Baili Qingxue was such a busybody.

Before Yun Qingyan could argue with Baili Qingxue, a group of people came hurrying towards them. The one leading the group was the gentle-looking Lin Wanyue in a white dress.

Of course, she had seen everything that happened earlier.

To Yun Qingyan, Baili Qingxue was just being a busybody, but to Lin Wanyue, that was a flirtatious act of intimacy.

The fire of jealousy spewed out like the lava of a volcano and it nearly swallowed her heart.

She walked over to Baili Qingxue and tried her best to squeeze a stiff smile out. "Qingxue, you and Qingyan arrived really early."

Baili Qingxue noticed Lin Wanyue's stiff expression and realized she might have misunderstood.

He suddenly remembered how she had saved him back then in the cave. She cured his blindness and cared tirelessly for him and showed him warmth. That was a warmth that he never enjoyed again after his mother passed on. Those days was him at his most tragic and lowest point, but it also formed the most wonderful memories in his heart.

He had spent many nights remembering everything that happened in the cave.

Even though his eyes were blinded then, his world was much brighter and clearer than any other time.

And she was the only light in his dark world.

At that time, he even promised to take her as his wife, regardless of whether she was pretty or ugly.
