Justin's P.O.V (8 years later)
I always made dessert and dinner since I was eleven and now I'm thirteen. But I still kept it as part of my chores. That's pretty much just because I loved doing it.
"Mom, dad, dinner is ready!" I yelled.
Dad came downstairs quickly and took his seat right on the 'Head Chair.' That was the name I gave to the large chair that was adjacent to mom and I. He was dressed in a black suit and a tie while I stood beside him, dressed as a butler.
Mom was rushing down the stairs wearing a dashing pink dress and heels. In the middle of her journey down the stairs, she missed a step and almost fell.
Instinctively, I stretched my hand to reach her though she was about fifteen meters away. I felt a connection with her and she began to float.
'What the shit is going on?' I asked myself, surprised. My heart was beating fast. It was intense!
As I moved my hand, so did mom. I kept moving it till she landed safely on the tiles. I stared at my dad with a heart full of shock. He shrugged his shoulders. Then I stared at mom. Her face was emotionless. She ran from where she stood towards me and hugged me.
My joy knew no bounds. I was just so happy that nothing happened to mum. If I had lost her, I would've probably committed suicide. No kidding.
Plus, I don't understand what the heck just happened. How I navigated her and all. It was all so stunning.
"Thank you." She muttered and broke the hug.
"What was that?" I asked dad who was smiling all this time.
"I told you you'll soon discover your superpower." He said, still smiling. I felt like punching him, because he knew this and didn't even think to tell me.
"So you knew all of this and you didn't even tell me?!"
"Yeah, I did. And I didn't tell you because I wanted you to find out yourself." He answered.
"Well... that's awesome!" I yelled. "How did I get it? How did it happen? Is it genetic?"
"I think our food's getting cold. Lets eat, I'll explain to you when you're done. Come on."
"Okay," I agreed and we ate up.
When we were done, I did the dishes and I went to the parlor where dad and mom were, watching a movie. To find the truth about myself.
********************
"Hey," I said as I sat down. "Time to spill some beans."
Mom started telling me about some freak accident that almost happened to me when I was born. I couldn't believe it. I almost fell as a baby and I started floating? How possible is that?
I listened attentively to what mom was saying and when she was done, dad started.
He told me about his granddad, my great granddad. That he was a tyrant with superpowers and that's probably why I do have them.
"So what of you? Don't you have any powers?" I asked him.
"Oh me? I don't think I have any. You're special." He said and I smiled
"That's amazing," I said with my face beaming with smiles.
"I know you're excited..."
I cut him short. "Excited? Yeah I am!"
"But there are some rules about this superpower stuff. "He paused. "The most important is never to kill anyone or anything with it or use it to constitute a nuisance." He said in a very serious tone.
"Why would I ever do that?" I said trying to sound innocent while I was using my new found superpower to toy with a vase. Then I mistakenly knocked it over
"I am very serious about what I'm saying."
"I know dad. Its not like I'm going to try take over the world or something." I said jokingly even though I knew he was totally serious.
"And one more thing." Mom added as she looked deeply into my eyes
"What's that?" I asked curiously. "I thought it was going to be just one rule."
"You mustn't tell anyone about your powers"
"Oh come on. Isn't a superpower meant to be shown off?" I asked.
"No!" Both of them chorused sternly.
Dad continued, "You won't understand the gravity of those powers you possess. Maybe you'll get it when you grow up."
I accepted it and didn't say anything more about the matter. "I love you both. And I mean it."
"We love you too Justin," they answered.
"I really can't imagine living without you guys."
"Don't worry, you won't have to." Mom replied
"We promise." Dad added with certainty."
I smiled and they did too. I was so happy about them and about my supernatural abilities. And I hope what they said was true because if it is, my life will continue to be perfect.
