Chapter 1 - A Sheer Miracle!

Doctor's P.O.V

It was a sunny Saturday morning and I was sitting in the comfort of my office when a nurse, well dressed but with beads of sweat on her forehead suddenly barged into the office.

"Sorry sir", she said panting. "Its an emergency and you are needed at the theatre right now" She said with a voice of urgency and left the office.

Baffled, I put my coat, my gloves and my mask on and walked briskly to the theatre.

When I got in, I saw a woman with a bulging stomach. She was in a gown and already on the bed. My attention was called and I started the operation.

When we were done with the operation, I brought the baby out and held it in my right hand then I tried to help the midwives clean up. The woman had stopped making noises now.

Mistakenly, the baby who was pretty slippery because it was covered with blood slipped from my hand. In a split second, my heart beat up to twenty times. It was heart-gripping.

It was falling and suddenly, it stopped in mid-air. I was totally freaked out and simultaneously, my heart flew into my mouth. I looked at the baby, it was smiling wildly. It was unlike any other that I ever saw.

Then I looked at the mother. She was surprised also, her mouth agape.

It was still floating when I quickly grabbed it. I pecked it on the forehead and handed it carefully over to a nurse that was in the theatre with me. When I handed it over to the nurse it started crying. The nurse, who was also shocked took it and went to clean it.

By the time I looked at the mom again, she had fainted. I was sure what just happened was the cause of it but I was certain that she was going to regain consciousness in no time.

What just happened never used to but it just did. Now I've got serious issues to take care of. I just hope that that nurse and those midwives keep what just occurred to themselves and don't blab it all out.

And it was so unusual; the way the baby floated. It was something I was never going to forget in my life.

It was a sheer miracle!
