More and more ghouls were appearing all over the neighborhood.
Kouta started running towards a building and maneuvered his way to the rooftop.
The surrounding ghouls in the area noticed him, and started chasing.
Kouta punched one in its face, which made the head blow up. He did the same to the other ghouls that chased him. He'd attacked about thirteen ghouls so far.
"How'd you like that?!" Kouta said.
The ghouls shuddered and then started growing their body parts back.
Kouta's eyes widened. "For real?! You guys can regenerate?!"
pow! pow! pow!
The sound of gunshots resonated through the air.
Bullets pierced each of the ghouls and killed them.
Kouta looked at the person who did it. It was a man in a black suit. His hair was dyed blonde, and he had black eyes. He looked at Kouta suspiciously.
A ghoul crept up on the man.
Kouta noticed. "Hey! Look out-"
The man pointed his gun behind him without looking and shot the ghoul. "Aim for the chest. All ghouls have a core that acts as their heart. It'll kill them immediately." He jumped away and started killing more ghouls.
Off in the distance Kouta saw Rin join in, killing ghouls in one sweep.
One of them started approaching Kouta. He leapt at it and punched it in its chest.
The ghost let out a shrill scream and dissipated.
Kouta scanned his surroundings. There were about thirty-eight ghouls he could see. And there were now five Reapers taking them out.
Kouta began feeling uneasy. As he looked at the ghouls more and more, he began thinking about the day he found his family dead.
Kouta tries to act like he doesn't care, but it sickens him to his core.
He hated them.
All of them.
Kouta groaned. "Killing them all won't get me anywhere!!" He vented his frustrations as he took out more and more ghouls.
Eventually the Reapers just stopped and watched Kouta take out the rest. He leapt from house to house, jumping in the air and kicking the ghouls in their chest.
"Why?!" Kouta killed another one.
"Why?!" he said as he just dashed through a ghoul entirely instead of hitting it. He then ran at the biggest one and ran his leg through it from the head down.
"Why do you all exist?!!"
Rin watched as Kouta seemed to empty his rage on the ghouls. The man with the gun seemed focused on Kouta as well.
"Rin." he said.
Rin looked over to him. "Yeah?"
The man's gun vanished as he put his hands in his suit pockets. "Don't you go to school with this kid?"
Rin nodded.
The man's eyes narrowed. "He's an esper. But he doesn't use weapons of any kind. He's just hitting the ghouls where I told him to."
A girl with glasses came up from behind with a laptop in her hand. She had short lavender hair that went to her shoulders with bangs that covered her forehead. "I looked up some info on Murakami Kouta."
The man in the suit turned around. "Let's hear it."
The woman pushed her glasses up. "Right. It says that two years ago, Kouta's family was murdered in a horrible accident. He was at the scene of the crime, but claimed that a 'ghost' was the killer. He was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and the case was pushed under the rug."
The man lit up a cigarette and took a drag. "So he has a grudge against them huh." He started walking towards Kouta.
Kouta had just finished off the last of the ghouls. He stood there catching his breath. The man tapped him on the shoulder.
Kouta spun around, still on guard. He relaxed a bit. "Oh, it's you."
"Kudo Jun. Reaper. I'm taking you back with me." the man said.
Kouta took a few steps back. "I already told Rin, I don't have an interest in you people."
Jun smirked. "I'm not your little classmate Kouta. That was a statement. You're coming with me whether you like it or not."
A brown-skinned woman appeared behind Kouta. As he backed up he bumped into her. He felt her chest bounce against his back.
Kouta jolted and looked over his shoulder.
She smirked. "Hello Kouta."
Kouta noticed that the lady didn't really budge when he bumped into her. "Is she a brick wall?!" he thought.
Jun took another drag of his cigarette. "That's Ayako. You won't be getting away from her. Trust me."
Kouta took note of her body frame. Ayako was well-built for a woman. She was taller than him by a few inches, and she had a runner's legs.
Kouta looked back at Jun. He saw a few more Reapers far behind him.
Ayako was the only Reaper behind Kouta. Everyone was far too relaxed.
Kouta quickly did a half-spin to his left and started sprinting at full speed. He jumped on top of a building and started weaving between alleys and streets.
He reached the train station and stopped to catch his breath. "I... think... I... lost 'em."
A finger tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around to see Ayako behind him, still smiling. "Going somewhere?" she asked.
Kouta was in shock. "How can you..."
Ayako smiled, putting her finger to chin. "Oh? You didn't think that you were the only esper in Tokyo did you?"
