Chapter 21 - Part Twenty: Heart to Heart?

"What do you mean? Hem told me himself that he put the spell on me," I asked-said. I was sure that Hem admitted it to me on the way here, but now, I'm confused on who did it.

"One of my closest friends, who I had considered family, put the spell on you, because they didn't want you to remember the war or anything leading to the war. And in that process, they took the memories of Prince Xzan," mom stated.

"That can't be it. Why didn't they want me to remember the war and the leading up to the war? Wouldn't it be Father and your's choice for me getting those memories removed?" I asked.

"We're still unsure why they did. We didn't want you to lose those memories, especially since you were so happy and cheerful when you were with Prince Xzan. They did it when everyone was asleep. We had no idea until the morning that you had forgotten about those memories," Father said.

"So, you're telling me that if you had known that mom's friend was going to erase my memories of Prince Xzan and the leading up to the war by force, I would still have the memories of Prince Xzan and I's childhood?" I asked as I stood up.

They both nodded. "We tried to get you to remember Prince Xzan and the leading up to the war, but we didn't want you to hate us for forcing you to remember him and the reason why the war started. But we also didn't want you to hate us for not trying and also from keeping you in the dark about certain things."

"Well, it backfired," I said as I go to leave as I couldn't take it anymore.

"It did, but in a way it was worth it. Since you had gotten some of your memories back," mom stated.

I stopped and looked over at her. "Was it really worth it, though? I mean I did run away from home because of the arranged marriage to a person who I had forgotten about, but also him and I had made a promise to get married when we were younger," I said.

Mother and Father looked at each other, but then looked back at me. "It really is."

"So, you're glad that I ran away from home?"

"That's not what we meant," Father said.

"Then what did you mean?"

"We're glad that you're working for Broken Shield," Mother said.

I look at them, confused. "Huh?"

"We're glad that you're doing what makes you happy and that one of your promises that you made Xzan is doing well," Father said.
