[ My name is Enas and I am your personal guide. ]
"Guide? Weren't you supposed to charge me for information? " Alex asked
[ Basic information such as this is free of cost. ] Enas answered in a robotic voice.
"Basic information? and what exactly is considered basic information?"
[ Information related to your status, current class, trial times and owned items is considered basic information ]
"Hmm... I'll talk to you later. I need to sleep for now."
.....
Early next morning Alex called his parents to check wether or not they were fine, after which he went to meet Ceaser in a park, in which Ceaser was waiting for him.
"Yo! What got you so worked up in the morning?" Alex asked as he sat next to Ceaser on a bench in the middle of the park, while noticing the agitated look on his face.
"Did you not check the news this morning?!" Ceaser asked a bit surprised.
"Actually I didn't, so what on the news that made you this nervous? " Alex asked after answering honestly.
"The President made a statement about the tower and the challengers, he has ordered for all challengers within the country to report to either the police or the military as we can be considered a problem to the safety of the civilians. Anyone who doesn't comply will be labelled a terrorist and thrown into prison." Ceaser explained.
"Seems reasonable, even I wouldn't feel safe with a bunch of superhumans everywhere. " Alex calmly commented.
"But you don't understand these people they probably, are going to force people to enter the tower even if they don't want to!!'
"Come on no need to be worried about things like that, if don't want to go then don't, its not like they can just throw you into the tower. More importantly I was wondering what class did you three get upon leveling up?" Alex asked in a calm demeanor.
"I became a warrior, Sarah became an archer and Ashley became a priest but we have decided not to go into the tower anymore, its too dangerous and I hope you understand and refrain from going too." Ceaser said as he looked at Alex.
"You are right my friend but I'm sorry because I am going to keep climbing the tower." Alex said to Ceaser as he looked him the eyes. In his eyes Alex saw fear and surprise.
"But why you experienced it first hand, how you could die at any time!!" Ceaser said raising his voice.
"Relax, I know the danger but that doesn't mean I'll stop, you know over three thousand people die in traffic accidents everyday but people still use cars. " Alex stood up after saying that,
"And don't be afraid of the military they wouldn't offend the strongest ranker just to send s couple more people into the tower. I'll take my leave now I need to tell my parents and then go to the police." Alex said as he left behind a bewildered Ceaser.
After leaving the park Alex called his parents and told them about him being a challenger and that he going to the military. Alex started walking towards the closest police station.
"Hello mister officer! I was told to get here by the end of the day. So I hope you take good care of me." Alex said to the officer sitting in his chair.
"Please come with us if you are a challenger." A woman in military uniform said as she stopped the officer from talking.
"Oh! Is that so? then please lead the way!" Alex said trying to be as friendly as possible.
After this he was escorted to a nearby truck inside which were four soldiers and five other people.
He took a seat quietly and after a while a man appeared,
"We are departing now. During the ride you will be asked some questions please respond to then one by one." the man said before leaving. Then the woman who had brought him here entered the truck with a clip board.
"I am private Emma and will be the one asking questions so please don't be a smart ass for your own safety." Emma said as the truck began moving.
"Miss you should watch what you say to the people here or you will be the one in danger." An old man, who was one of the challengers said.
"Oh! and whose going to put me in danger you or that kid, just because you got lucky you don't get to be some kind of a superhero." the woman said as she stared at the Challengers.
"Miss don't call us lucky without knowing what we had to go through." Alex said in a grim tone.
Immediately the atmosphere in the room changed, the challengers looked at Emma at the same time.
"Kid who are you to speak to your elders like that?! what parents teaching their kids these days?!" Emma burst in anger after being warned by a kid and walked towards Alex.
Immediately Emma's feet froze in place, ice reaching up to her knees. The soldiers pointed their guns at the Challengers, when the old man spoke,
"Who is he you ask? He is Alex Reaver, the strongest of all Challengers!"
"Thanks for the introduction oldman. Now all of us in here will remain civil till we reach the destination. Understood?" Alex said releasing the shocked Emma from ice.
"Understood!!" All Challengers realising who he was, immediately answered.
The soldiers on the other hand put their guns back seeing the situation diffused.
Emma on the other hand called the head quarters,
"Private Emma reporting sir, we have located Alex Reaver! Yes sir!" this is what Alex heard before he saw her out down the phone.
The rest of the ride so peaceful that Alex took a nap. While the others afraid of waking him, sat quietly in the truck. Soon they reached their destination.
"Please come with I will lead you to the meeting hall." Emma said respectfully, her attitude turning one eighty degrees.
The challengers lead by Emma reached a large hall with tens of people inside it. After leaving them here Emma left immediately. About 15 minutes later a man appeared on the stage, that was on one side othe hall.
He tapped on the mike leading to the hall turning completely silent.
"I am Major Tom and I will be the one responsible for all of you from now on. We have decided to provide you with all the support we can muster to help you climb the tower. Please go to the location where your name is called. You will be provided more information later." the walked off the stage as he finished speaking after which people were being called to one of four locations around the hall.
Alex was just standing in the hall waiting for his name to be called when a man approached him.
"Mr. Alex I presume." the man said as he extended his hand for a hand shake.
"Yes Major Tom." Alex shook hands with the man who was none other than the major who was just speaking on the stage.
"I would like you to come with me, we have made special arrangements for you."
"Sure" Alex said as he started following Tom who lead him to an office.
After they went inside the office and sat into chairs Tom began speaking,
"First of all I really apologize for the behaviour of my subordinate." Tom said as he bowed towards Alex.
"Apology accepted" Alex said.
"Good now the main topic the higher ups have decided to provide you full support so you have your personal attendent here. If you need anything ask him and it will brought to you within a day. This is the key to your room, which is located in the main building." Tom said as he handed Alex a key.
"Where is this main building?" Alex asked not knowing where his room was supposed to be.
"That would be my job to lead you there." An old man said as he entered the room.
"He is Brian, he will be your personal attendent." Tom explained who this man was.
"Well Brian lets go since I assume weare done here. " Alex said as he stood up from his seat and left the room.
......
Alex checked out his new room that was almost comparable to separate large home.
"Hey Enas, when will the next trial take place?"
[ It will take place in a month, the large period is to allow challengers to familiarise themselves with their power. ]
Alex stood up and looked outside the window, the sun was setting, he realised that in only two days the world had completely changed. And most likely became worse than it already was.
