(Leonel)
Hours passed and soon the sun fell while the moon rose. Tristan had fallen asleep on my chest. All the crying made him exhausted and unable to stay awake. As I run my hand through his blond hair I can't help but feel a little bad. My plan had made him cry, but even so it was going to get him to be mine soon.
Lucca isn't a good person, he has secrets just like the rest of us but his are much darker. I've known him for years, and I still can't seem to figure out why he has such a dark look in his eyes all the time.
Exposing someone like Tristan to that should be a crime. That's why I want to protect him. It's why I paid a crew member to act as if she were flirting with Lucca, just around the time Tristan walked in. The sooner they stop talking the sooner Tristan will be safe.
I'm just trying to protect him, and keep him as mine. Lucca can't have him. Lucca can't even be near him.
Now that the moon is up and the ship has neared the cave, I gently tap Tristan's cheek in order to wake him up.
It takes him a moment, and when he does he looks around the room groggily and confused. Another moment of processing what happened, and I can just see the pain flash through his eyes. He seems to debate crying again, but once he sees me smile he smiles back though I can tell it's a bit forced.
"Sorry to wake you…" I whisper, sitting up on the bed while holding him on my lap. "But I think we're about to stop. We should be close to our destination soon."
"Okay, but… I-I really don't want to see him." He blinks back his tears quickly before continuing. "Can I just stay with you?"
He scoots up on my lap so that he can rest is cheek on my shoulder. His lips are barely touching my skin, and his breath fans my neck as he breathes deeply. It makes me shiver and want to kiss away his tears and the pain, but unfortunately I can't. Not yet. Not until Lucca is out of the picture.
"Of course, we'll have our own fun." I take his hand and help him off the bed, guiding him out the room.
When I look around I notice most of the crew members already off of the ship, and over us is the giant cave dripping with water. I smile and turn to Tristan, gesturing to the water around us. "It's beautiful, isn't it? What do you think?"
"It's nice." He responds without even glancing at it.
He must've really liked Lucca for that to hurt him so badly. He's so sad that he can't even get excited about swimming. I place a hand on his back and begin to lead him off the ship, but he jumps when he hears his name being shouted out from the wheel of the ship.
"Tristan!" It doesn't take us long for us to realize that it's Lucca, and just from where we stood I could feel his angry glare.
Tristan stops walking, but doesn't turn around to face him. The tears gathering in his eyes yet again mean that he doesn't want to see Lucca because it would make him have another breakdown.
"He doesn't want to speak with you Lucca." I shout back, pushing Tristan behind me.
"I wasn't calling out for you. I was calling out for him, if he doesn't want to talk with me he can tell me that himself." Lucca snaps at me.
He and I have been friends for a while, but we were never quite close enough to share our secrets or dog too far into our personal lives. Perhaps that's why I couldn't care less that we like the same person. I don't care how Lucca feels as long as I get Tristan all to myself.
I sigh and look to Tristan. "If you don't want to speak with him we can just get off the ship. You don't have to say anything."
Tristan shakes his head, and turns around. "I don't want to talk to you. Nothing you say can change it anyways, so just leave me alone… I was stupid to trust someone like you."
I hear Lucca let out a small growl of frustration and call out for Tristan once more, and instead of answering, I guide the two of us off the ship and over to an empty area near the water. We both sit in silence, staring at the gentle waves.
"I'm sorry he hurt you, I can beat him up if you want." I say jokingly, trying to get him to smile.
I didn't want Tristan to be heartbroken. I just wanted to deter him from Lucca. It's for his own good, and maybe for me too.
"No. He hurt me, but… I don't want to hurt him back. An eye for an eye? I couldn't ever make someone feel like this on purpose."
I scoot closer and wrap my arm around his waist, slowly pulling him closer. "That's because you're a nice person. He isn't. It'll be hard to stay on the ship with him there too but don't worry, I'll be here. You can just stick with me. We'll change rooms and everything."
"Okay. I just… He seemed so nice. I didn't think that he would do something like that." He whispers quietly, cuddling closer to me.
I shake my head, and place my hand to his cheek, lifting his head up slightly. "I know… but you should try your best to forget about him. He's just going to try and win you over again, but you'll end up getting hurt…"
"It's alright. You'll protect me."
"Of course I'll protect you. Anything for you…"
He looks so beautiful next to the water, his tears made his cheeks a soft shade of red and his lips look soft as ever. I can't help myself. I lean down and press my lips to his and I feel him tense under me.
