His light footsteps floated across the damp forest floor, the sound of fallen leaves crunching under his weight filled the air. He was running for his life, from a beast, a monster, a wolf.
His legs pushing harder and faster, his panting filling his ears, the scents of the forest around him flooding and overwhelmed his senses. Yet the sound of the wolf's heavy panting close behind him, it's heavy pounding of his large paws against the forest floor close behind him still echoed in his head. Taking his chance he dived under a old decaying log, one taught only filling his head. He was only hoping his family had survived after they had been forced to split up after to timber wolves had found them. He prayed to the moon that they had made it across the territory lines, the territory line on the edge of the peaceful town of Ravens Haven.
The wolf's heavy paws came to a halt a few meters away from where he hid in fear. Wrapping himself with his dark tale praying it would conceal his scent hoping he would not see him, scared of what the wolf would do if he found where he hid under the log. Thinking of what would happen if the wolf would found him, the thought of the wolf flinging his limp body around like a rag doll meant to be torn apart. The Grey timber wolf's loud sniffing became louder and louder as it came closer to where he hid pulling his tail closer to his body. Seeing the wolf pass him by not even noticing that he was there hoping he would not be found by the wolf. Taking his chance, his only chance, he silently crawled out under the log running straight into the woods not even daring to look back.
Running from a potential doom that had found him hoping and praying he would survive and that the wolf would not find him. After what had felt like hours had past by him nothing had changed in the slightest, the trees that had past him had all started to look the same to him for all of them where a giant mess of different shades of greens, yellows and oranges for autumn had started to creep upon them. Then as if he had ran into a wall the scent he knew he had found his sanctuary, his family. Using the weak scent of his family he followed it to only be led into a small sleepy town, the town he would call home from now on. The town with a small population of five hundred odd residents about to welcome a family of five more residents, Tay Black and his family of rare and elusive fox shifters.
Darting through the shadows of side and back allies through the town, he had found his way to a beautiful two story house, painted a lite grey color with a dark wood trim around the doors and windows. The entrance to the door was led by a small garden path, a set of stairs leading down to a dark oak door with magnificent detailed carvings. Making a small leap off the stairs he followed the path leading to the back door, darting quickly through the forest the had surrounded the house he hopped the fence to be met with a well kept large garden. Barely being able to contain his excitement, his light paws padded onto the deck to come face to face with yet another dark oak door. Yet this one had a way for him to enter the house a single doggie door, diving through the little door only to reveal two startled people. Confused by the sudden noise created by the little fox skidding on the hard wood floors.
As they stared at the almost black fox he identified them as his family, the tall dark haired man with almost as dark brown eyes, his father Alexander Black who was seated at the isle in the middle of the magnificent kitchen. a Younger looking woman with beautiful curled waist length crimson red hair tied up into a neat bun, her caring blue eyes staring at the little fox, his mother Merry Black. Slowly turning around she walked over to the little fox, with relief flooding in her eyes.
"You gave me such a fright you, if I wasn't this happy to see you I would have smacked you upside your head young man." she stated stern yet her caring eyes showing how much she truly loved the little creature.
"Jade! Jay! Your brother is hear!" his fathers loud voice boomed through the house.
Movement could be heard from another room in the house, and the loud padding of footsteps to reveal his siblings.
"TAY!" the loud squeal bounced off of the walls as a young strawberry blonde haired boy ran to him,his younger brother Jay, only a few days shy of his seventh birthday. Kneeling down the little boy lifted the fox and pulled into a hug.
"Where were you silly?" the little boy muttered into the little fox's neck very curious.
"Finally, your here we almost thought the wolves tore you apart." a young girl stated leaning against the door frame staring a the fox.
The fox looked up at his older sister, Jade Black, a tall well built girl only nineteen, who resembled there father with her dark curly hair and brown eyes. The fox cocked his head to the side in a joking manner just to in-rage his older sibling.
"O stop it you both!" there mother scorned wiping her hands on a cloth.
"Tay go get ready for dinner. Jade get the cutlery and Jay go get the table cloth." there mother barked clapping her hands making them all stare.
All they did was look at there mother surprised at what she just said.
"Did I stature?" she stated showing a deadly glare to her children.
Making eye contact with them triggered they spring to life quickly moving to where they had been assigned to. The little fox made its way upstairs to a all to familiar room, his room. He quickly closed the door with his head making sure it made a click before he shifted back into his human form. His body twisting in a unnatural way, the sounds of his bones breaking and reforming to pop back into place to help reveal his human form, could make anyone's hair stand on end. Slowly rising form the floor revealing a some what filthy slender boy.
As soon as he rose form the ground he made his way to his bathroom to take a long over do shower, out of habit he turned on the hot water tap waiting for it to warm up. He quickly stepped into the glass box adjusting the temperature till it was just perfect, as the warm liquid ran down his spine letting his muscles relaxed with a grate delight. After a few minutes he emerged out of the bathroom only with a towel around his slender waist revealing his pale skin decorated with beauty marks and water drops. Quickly pulling on a long sleeved black shirt over his bare chest to cover his naked form from the cold air and pulling on a pair of dark gray sweatpants.
Passing his mirror he quickly pushed his long raven black hair out of his face. That is when he saw himself standing there, Tay Black. Pushing his hair out of the way he remembered that this was one of the little traits he shared with his father. His two doe like eyes staring back at him, one a light blue and the other a bright green. His footsteps padded down the halls into the dinning room where his family sat waiting for him, so that they could start eating. Even before his behind touched his chair his father started saying grace to announce to his family they the could start eating the delicious dinner his wife had prepared.
After dinner and dessert he carried the dishes to the kitchen where his mother was already packing there dishwasher. He placed a light kiss on her cheek announcing to her that he was going to go to his room. He quickly ran up the stairs closing his door in one swift motion, walking over to his queen sized bed climbing under the covers pulling his journal closer to quickly write down what had happened throughout the day. After he had placed it down on his bed side table turning off his light, he turned on his side ready to rest his tired eyes after a long day of to much excitement.
"What a way to end the holiday" he lightly chuckled closing his eyes.
His thoughts kept on thinking on what the new town and school would hold for him. Not even knowing an unavoidable fate waiting for him to just walk into.
