I sent a patronous to Ginny. She was on the doorstep to my flat in seconds.
"Mione, what's wrong" Ginny said banging on the door
"Nothings wrong Ginny" I say exasperated opening the door, "just follow me" I lead the way to Ida's nursery.
"When did you have a baby, who's the father" Ginny said as soon as we arrived in the nursery
"No, she's not mine, well I guess she's mine now. I found her on my doorstep this morning" I explain picking her up. Ginny squeals
"What's her name" She says once her noises of excitement subside
"I don't exactly know, see I got this letter signed my AM, and her initials are CNM, she's rather unique looking so it will be nearly impossible to find her parents off looks." I say picking AM's letter up off the desk. "Her first name is Cresseida" pointing at her chest were it's emblazoned on her jumpsuit.
"That's cute, it's an astrological name maybe she's pure blood?" Ginny guesses
"Maybe anyway the letter addressed me as tenant of 113 Nadine street so I'm going to call her Cresseida Nadine Granger" I finish.
"Do you think we should try and find her parents" Ginny asks
"I don't think so the letter makes it very clear, they said, don't bother looking I'm gone like the wind, Then when I was collapsing the pram paperwork fell out, naming me her legal guardian." I tell her shushing Ida.
"Well I guess me have a new member in the family" Ginny said reaching her arms out to hold her.
One week later, weekly Weasley Brunch
I push Ida's pram up the sidewalk to the tall lopsided abode of the Weasleys. We were greeted at the door bye plump Mrs. Weasley.
"Weres my new grand-baby" she coos into the pram, "she's gorgeous, you have such a big heart to take her in" Molly compliments, before. Scooping Ida up and whirling into the busy Weasley home. Harry came up with there son James in his arms coo at Ida as well, soon the entire family was gushing over "how cute she is", "look at her eyes", "she's so soft", "she's absolutely precious". The other children were just as enamored young James (once free from his fathers arms of course) toddled over, baby Albus in tow to share there trucks. Ron and Lavenders daughter Pricilla tried to dress her up like a baby doll and play tea party. At the end of brunch Mr. Weasley stood. "Everyone we have a gift for little Ida" he scooped the baby from his wife's arms lifting her wrist. He summoned up a silver charm spelling the word family the A was a Rose-gold heart. He clipped it to her bracelet next to her CNM charm.
"Mr.Weasley, you didn't have to that's so beautiful" I gush looking closer at her wrist.
"Yes we did, we are all family so why not show it, even if we chose it for ourselves I think of you as a daughter" Mr. Weasley told me firmly.
August 18th 2001
This year had been busy but I made sure to clear my schedule, Ida was turning 1. She was a very athletic baby already walking and speaking in partial sentences. Shortly after adopting her I decided to leave my job as a healer (the hours were to long). We moved to a muggle village outside of Godrics Hollow, were I could raise Ida to respect muggles and their culture while also showing her what she was. I opened a Community Learning center were I could teach children to read and write. It doubled as a library were I could school Ida. In the basement level of you were of magic blood and knew the password you could buy fresh grown and caught potion ingredients from my garden. I wanted Ida to grow up to be cultured so I read her advanced books and encouraged time with the other children who came to learn. We lived in a homey flat above my business. It looked very lived in for the short amount of time we'd actually called it home (7 months). The stairs opened up to a small living area, a pinstriped couch was pushed against the paneled walls, newspaper clippings and paintings hung around the room a wooden rocking chair sat on front of a brick fireplace. The mantle was covered in photos of Ida and me. A bookshelf and a globe stood in one corner with my old Hogwarts trunk acting as a coffee table, which of course was littered with books. Through the archway was a dining room. A table sat in the middle of the room, much bigger than we needed. It was made of a stained magnolia wood with cushioned Gray seats surrounding it. 3 different sized lights illuminated the room with a homey glow a big window overlooked my magical garden plants and fruit bowls covered the table fresh from the Weasley garden. Connected to the Dining room was a small kitchen. The appliances were all old and outdated, fresh herbs and spices hung from racks on the walls. The blue counters were faded and dingy. Shelves lined the walls with pots and pans. Baskets held ingredients as there weren't any cupboards. Then split a small hallway lead to 3 doors. One lead to the bathroom with was accessible from each bedroom as well. The dark floor complimented the white subway tiles. A plant rack hung over the toilet, the sink was a muted pink with flowery art on the walls handwoven baskets held shampoo and other hygiene products an small walk in shower was crammed in the corner, next to it stood a makeup vanity, and the door to Idas room, along the back wall was a window and the door to my room. Ida hated sleeping in a crib so she had a big girl bed with a railing. Her bed duvet had colorful stripes and was covered in cute throw pillows and stuffed plushies. Banner and polka dots adorned one wall and butterfly sticker another. A chair sat in the corner next to a books shelf so I could read to her. My room was plain, white bed spreads a dark wooden furniture and plenty of bookshelves. Besides moving into our home and starting a business I spent my free time with my daughter. Teaching her to speak English and French, I read to her and played with her in the garden, but today was special. 1 year ago today she made my life better by showing up. I made her a delicious Strawberry Banana smoothie, (her favorite) and cut chocolate chip pancakes into the finest pieces possible. I woke my little princess up and let her pick her own outfit. She eventually decided on a frilly purple princess dress with Blue and Red polka dot leggings. I put her hair in pigtails before adding her favorite cat eared headband. She gulped down her breakfast before begging to go to the playground. We spent the day on the swings or having sand fights. For dinner we had Mac and Cheese with bangers. We finished the day with ice cream and a Barbie Marathon.
"Mummy I wuv you" Ida told me snuggling into my arms before drifting asleep. There we dreamed together all night Barbie Roberts singing her heart out in the backround. It was the perfect day.
