Getting off the phone we made our way to mine and Tristen spot. Getting out of the car I started around the front of the car when I found Tristen waiting for me there. I was not in the mood to have it out with him but, the look on his face said he was not going to go without talking first. I turn toward the girls, "Go ahead we will be right behind you." I say.
As we see them start the path, I turn to him. His face is normal handsome, chiseled perfect. But his eyes are where he tells his story of feelings. There is anger, fright but mainly hurt. My heart sinks, I have hurt him. I go to apologize and his hand comes up to push some of my hair behind my ear. For the first time I hear his voice since all this mess in my head.
Please do not apologize. I know that you were not trying to hurt me. I was just worried.
With us both being opened up to one another I can feel and see how he saw things. He was worried I would get hurt. And the fact that I was just going to go without him made it hurt the most. But he was not protecting his sister from me. He was focused on getting my attention for me to just talk with him I shut him out and that hurt him so much.
But I am sorry. I was not purposely shutting you out. I really don't know how I do it. I wrapped my arms around his waist and lay my head on his chest. All I thought was to get to my mom. I should have talked to you. You are my other half I need to remember I am not alone in this. I am truly sorry. He wraps me up in his arms and kisses the top of my head. We need to get going. I don't want the girls to get there without us.
He was right. I let him go and he grabs my hand as we take off up the path. It is not long before we catch up to the girls. It seems that Amber or Kat is not that great to mind their own business since we saw them within a few steps trying to act like the wasn't watching us. Shaking my head at them I let Tristen lead us down the path.
It took us a bit longer to make it then the last time to where we saw the fire. The ruins that remains breaks my hear that so many plants and animals died because of those selfish jerks. It was starting to get dark out by the time we made it almost to the camp. You could see there were a few cabins that were not filled with people anymore. There were still swim suits and towels hanging on the porch rails of a few of them.
We walked down the path that was between the lake and the camp. Able to see both easily and trying to not miss anything of each. We did not know what we were looking for but, deep down I knew that it was here. When we rounded a little past the north side of camp, we saw an old run-down cabin. It was a little bigger than the other ones. But you could see that it was not up dated as the others. The steps were broken on one side, the light was hanging from the ceiling of the porch, and the banisters were all missing a few pieces. I started to feel the energy again under my skin. This is where we were meant to be. My mom is here. "My mom is in that cabin, I just know it." I say.
Tristen stops and turns toward all of us. "Amber can you messing dad and let him know?" Tristen whispers. She nods and starts texting. There is only one light on inside the cabin and it looks to be toward the back. There is not a lot of light showing in the front of the cabin. "I think we should wait." He says looking at me right when a man comes around the tree that just down from us close to the cabin. Big shoulders, over six feet tall, and dark hair. Tristen turns around swiftly and stands protectively in front of us girls. "I don't think that will be necessary. We have plenty of room in the cabin. Plus, Christopher has been waiting for you." The man says
I can see Tristen start to get into his defensive stance. I reach and touch his elbow and step around him. "We will follow you. Lead the way'" I say. This is the easiest way to get into that cabin. It is not how we really wanted to but, I need to get to my mom. He nods and motions for us to walk ahead of him.
Do you know this guy?
I ask Tristen as we make our way on the path.
Yes Aaron, he is Christopher's muscle you could say. He was his sons' best friend from what I have been told. He's not that strong but, he knows how to work his magic. So please don't try anything.
He says this like he wasn't just about to try to fight this man just a moment ago. Rolling my eyes to myself we make it up to the cabin. When we walk in you can see the neglect of the cabin but what caught my eye was in the middle of the room is a pentagram on the floor. At each point of the star are candles different color white, red, green, blue, and purple. At the top point is the white candle with a bronze bowl next to it. In the middle of it all is a body covered in a white sheet. The body is not moving.
Hearing a gasp coming from Amber, I turn to the right corner of the room and there tied to a chair is my mom. Her hair is matted to her forehead, and there is a bruise that looks to be forming on her cheek. Her lip is busted and blood crusted to it. The struggle she must have given them to receive all that builds the flames of rage in me. This jerk is going to hurt for touching my mom. I go to step toward my mom and Tristen grabs my arm pulling me back. I look up to his face and he shakes his head no. I feel the confusion on my face, he points with his head to the other corner of the room. There is a table that looks to have many different objects on it. And standing next to it with his back to us is Christopher.
The guy that brought us to the cabin speaks, "It seems that we have visitors." Christopher doesn't turn around but he answers "I was expecting them. Well, really I was just looking forward to seeing Bree but, this is just added bonus to have the others." He then slowly turns around. The smile on his face as he notices that not only is Tristen with me but, also the girls. "Well, this is a great day. We have extra powers at be to add to my collection."
It did not go unnoticed that he said his collection. "What do you mean collection?" Tristen asks. "Oh, dear boy you will find out soon. No worries it will only hurt a little." Christopher answers and turns to look at me. "But, you my lovely. What I have planned for you will be more of a painful evening I am afraid." The chill that went down my spin I could not control and he looked pleased to know how effected I was by what he said. I have to get better at his game.
"I am not here to play your silly games. Why did you take my mom? Let her go, now!" I spoke calmly but firm. Tristen squeezed my arm to let me know I needed to calm down more. But what he didn't understand is that I am not going to just stand here and let the crazy man hurt my mom or any of them. "You see that isn't very simple, I needed both of them to complete my spell." Christopher says as he points to the figure on the floor.
"What spell? "Amber ask. He tilts his head to the side and stares at her. "Oh, beautiful girl, that you will find out soon enough. There are things that I need to do first."
Kat takes this time to step up next to me and opens her mouth, "Listen here buddy, I really don't care what little shin-dig you've got going on here. But, you ain't going to be using Bree's mom or any of us to do whatever it is. So, go get that idea out of your head. Lets just untie her," she says as she points to my mom, "and we will all just walk out of here and forget all this happened ok? I mean you really don't want to make this big deal over something stupid, do you?"
Christopher turns around and faces the table he gabs something off of it and throws it right at Kat. She is fast enough to dunk before it hit her. A knife sticks to the wall right behind where her head was. This guy is nuts. He yells, "Bringing the most important thing in my life back to me is not stupid."
Well, that was not what I expected. When we all look back at Christopher, we see him rubbing his hand down his shirt as if trying to compose himself again. "Now, let's get this started, shall we?" he says.
No matter what just do as they want until dad gets here. They will save us from this. Tristen says to me.
I don't answer him because I know I can not agree to that. Christopher and his helper start moving their hands in a circle before them and speaking a language softly. I can not make out what they are saying but I can feel the power coming from them. My body is heating up again, I feel the energy from before. I see Tristen stiffen up next to me. And so, do the girls. Next thing I know the girls tumble to the floor; Tristen is showing signs of straining on his face. His hands are clenching and shaking. I close my eyes and reach out to his mind.
I am not for sure what is going on but, I am wanting you to calm down. Let me enter your mind so I can help you.
Just as I start to feel him lower his blocks his body goes to the floor but, his eyes are still open. I reach for him and try to help him up. His lips are twitching and his eyes are huge.
You need to find a way to get out of here. Run!! Go get help. He yells at me in my head. I turn at Christopher, "What did you do?" I spit at him. "Like I said they are an added bonus but, I don't need them yet." He starts to walk toward me so I stand up. "You my dear are something else you know that? I know of your mothers' power and have seen it in action. Yours well I can not wait till you can reach full power." His hand reaches up to stroke the back of his fingers down my cheek and I swat him away. "Over my dead body will I ever help you." I say through clench teeth. "That is a shame, I was hoping this would be easy for us. No matter it is still happening." He says as he walks back to the table.
There has to be something that I can do to stop whatever the hell this man is up too. I wish I knew how to control my magic or even what I am capable of doing. Wait, Jack said that through Tristen I am able to use my magic. I turn to look at him.
What is there that I can do? There has to be something? I ask Tristen. He is quiet for a minute. But then I hear, we can try the freeze bar hold that you did before. I nod my head just a little to confirm. Christopher starts talking before I can hear what Tristen says, "It is a shame to waste such great power on the young. They truly don't know what to do with it. Let's take you mother for example." I look over at mom. She has been knocked out through all this. I am going to find a way to hurt this man. "I think we need to wake her up for this little reunion. She would be heart broken to miss it."
Aaron, walks over to mom and runs his fingers across her forehead and her eyes spring open. As she looks around stunned where she is, she locks right on me. "No, no no." She says then turns to Christopher. "Why do you have her? Let her go, she has no part of our troubles. It was way before her." "Tsk tsk tsk, you know that she is just as part of this as you are." He answers. "She is the product of the two main reason we are here today."
Christopher walks over to the table and picks up what looks like a jug of water, a baggy of something like hair and a thing of dirt and takes it over to the white candle and kneels next to it. "Eighteen years ago, the most important thing in my life was taken from me. It was ripped from me. Who does that to someone? Without any care at all, to kill my blood. To murder my only child." At the last statement Christopher turns to look at my mom. "You, took my everything away. So, I think it is only fair that your everything will be what is used to bring it back. Oh, and your sacrifice too."
Ok, I know there are some crazy's in the world but, this guy is on the top 10 list. "What the heck are you talking about?" I throw back at him. He faces me while he starts to empty the contents into the bowl. "You see, your mother is the reason my son is dead."
When I look at my mom, she is shaking her head no. "He is wrong honey; His son drove himself into that lake and he did not try to get out. I wasn't even there." She said to me. At the top of his lungs, "It is because you refused him. You denied his affection, embarrassed him all for what. That little worm. My son was not good enough but, that puny excuse for a male was." That knocked me for a loop, he committed suicide because my mom did not want him. How is that her fault. You can not place that on someone else. Not I felt the anger starting to boil. My skin was vibrating with the energy in me. Oh, the nerve of this guy.
Right as I am about to tell this guy off Tristen starts yelling in my head. Don't say a word. So not set him off. Play this out just a little bit longer, my dad should be here any time.
He's right, I am not strong enough to take this guy down. Or even his minion, I need to be smart about this. Christopher grabs the sheet and yanks it off the body. There laying on the old rotting floor is a man that does not look anything like Christopher. He has dark hair and even with the pale tone to his skin you can tell he is dark completion. Laying there he must be tall around Tristen size. This is not what I expected. The body look to be well preserved not all gross and rotting like I thought it would be. That is when I hear my mom gasp. When I look at her its like she has seen a ghost. Tears start to fall on her face. "Awe yes you know who this is don't you? I thought it would be fitting that this is who would help bring my son back don't you think. Kind of poetic justice?" Christopher says to my mom. What? Who is this guy? I take a step closer to get a better look and it hits me like a MAC truck. This guy is the same as the picture mom gave me that is sitting on my table. This is the guy that ran away. This is my father. I stumble back a few steps and lean my arm on the wall for support. How can this be? I had to force myself to take deep breaths to calm myself before I passed out. My mother was over in the corner crying hysterically. Which is what I would expect. When I turn to face Christopher, he has this smile that says he is enjoying our pain.
"How can this be? What are you doing to him?" I ask. It all just does not make sense. Why does my father need to be here? "Well, it simple my sons' body is no more. It is not able to walk this Earth. But this body is. And with this spell I am about to do I will be swapping his soul that is trapped in the water with the soul of your father." Christopher says likes he is reading a grocery list to me. "Wait, your son's soul is in the water? What water?" I ask my mind not wrapping around all of this at all. "ugh I forget you were not raised up as a White lighter. Unless a Lighter is given a proper funeral, their soul is trapped on the between plane and attached to wherever they died. So, the lake is where my son has been this whole time. Waiting for this."
He holds the bowl over the flame of the candle after he mixes everything together. He continues, "Do you know how long I had to search for the correct spell to bring him back? And then to make sure that I could keep your father there hidden long enough for me to be able to make it happen. We have tried so many times and failed. But we know now why that was." He looks at me and smiles. "We weren't powerful enough. It takes great power and patience to make this work. Stupid kids think that just because they have more power than anyone their age that they can do anything. Should have known they would be as useless as their parents. Just as weak too." That doesn't make any sense. When he tried before it started the fires when it failed? "Not able to hold on to any ounce of power long enough and it explodes is not easy to keep hidden. Especially, when there are nosey kids running around too." He mumbles to himself the last part.
"How the hell do you think that my mother and I are going to help you? That's wishful thinking." I say to him. My mom has started to calm down now. "There is no way I am going to give you anything." She spits at him. I see the power following through her eyes. I have never seen my mom so mad. Christopher stands up fast and goes over and back hands my mom across the face. Her head lays limp against her shoulder. He walks back and slowly bends back down to the floor. "No worries we don't need her awake I can use her power easier like this." He says with a shrug.
How dare he? For he to take my father and hide him away from us my whole life. For him to steal my mom and beat her. For him to burn the forest all so he can get his son back. He has taken from me my whole life and I didn't even know it. Well, it stops now. I feel my arms shaking. My body is taking control again and I am not going to fight it this time. Widening my stance as Chole showed me I relaxed my shoulders. With my hands out in front of my middle I release my magic from me in search of his. This man is not going to hurt anyone ever again. Before I can feel him, Aaron takes a step-in front of me and stops my focus. He takes his hand and punches me in the jaw and to the floor I go. I hear Tristen grunting trying to break free of whatever hold they have on him. Wow, that was a good hit. I touch my lip and find blood there. Oh, that was a mistake there buddy. I go to raise up and see the knife still in the wall. With easy focus, I fling the blade with my mind right at the guy and know without looking it is in his chest. I hear his fall and it was sweet music to my ears.
Pulling my feet under me I lift myself up and turn to Christopher. He has his hand raised over the bowl with a gold knife at his palm. He swipes the knife and opens his hand up. Blood pours into the bowl. Little dramatic much I feel. But whatever this man is finished. Getting back in my stance I reach out again with my magic and touch his easily. Christopher starts speaking that language again. Repeating over and over the same phrase. I can feel his magic start to grow. I have to put a stop to this. Using the same thing Tristen said to do with the light in me, I find his. I start to push the light over and over. This is way harder than when it was inside me.
I can feel it fighting me, not able to get it in an easy grip. Suddenly I feel his power explode. Wait where did that come from. I open my eyes and see his are shut, and I see mom. Her body is lifting out of the chair with it still tied to her. It looks like it is reaching for Christopher. Oh no. He is using moms' power already. I can not let this happen.
Reaching down deep inside I focus on his light. His is flaming red almost like fire. The other power is yellow like a sunflower. That has to be moms' power. I take my power and focus on braking moms away from his. And making sure not to let me fuse with his either. Slowly I am pushing and pulling his power until it is in a ball between my power. As I open my eye, my hands are bent toward one another and vibrating as if his power is really in my hands. Now, I have to pull it from him. Before I start, I notice there is a white light coming from my father's chest. Floating into the air and hovering over the bowl on the floor. Its progressing, I have to stop this. Putting every last once of me that I have I start tugging that power out if his body. As I do this, I make sure the cast of my power that I have around his power is not cracking. This has to go at one swipe or it will be for nothing. I hear a commotion outside but, I am not caring at all. I have to finish this. On the next tug I see Christopher eyes snap open. "What are you doing?" He demands.
Not worrying about him knowing anymore I feel his power slowing, I reach in and feel more power in me. Not for sure how but not caring either, I lock down on his power and jerk one more time and it pops out in front of him. How big his eyes are is all I can focus on because he knows now that I am more powerful then he ever thought. Surprise. Taking my hands, I start to push the power making it as small as a possible can. The front door flies open and Jake comes to a stop.
