Chereads / The Archaic Dragon Mage / Chapter 430 - 5

Chapter 430 - 5

"How did you know they were in the north?" Eric shouted at me angrily.

"I didn't know for sure," I lied, "I caught them coming down south from the north. I headed further north, and found more evidence of them so I decided to have your drones follow me so that you would have proof."

"Both of those drones you insisted on taking with you were destroyed," he yelled again.

Anger surged through me at his tone. My tail slapped the ground hard enough to leave a two foot deep gash in the damaged pavement. I snarled as waves of pain reverberated out from my wound. Eric was slightly startled with my anger, but he hid his surprise well. All the guards raised their weapons at me.

"I don't care for your tone Mr. Bird," I hissed, "You are the idiot didn't even know that the wyverns were in the north, and kept sending your men to the south. I just showed you how blind you really are."

My legs wouldn't hold my weight right now, or I would've approached him in my anger. I wanted to. I really did, but I couldn't even get up. Let alone stomp my way toward him in a rage. It didn't actually take much to move my tail alone.

Yet even that had been enough to send pain reverberating through my body. I could get anymore tense then I already was. My temperature had skyrocketed far past what I was comfortable with. The heat alone was enough for Eric to start taking steps back. I could feel my freshly fused water element trying to cool me from within.

Steam started pouring from my wounds. I lowered my head so it was two feet above Eric's eye level. Forcing him to look up at me. My lips curled up slowly. Revealing my half emerged teeth.

Eric wasn't willing to talk to me right now. Fear was obvious in his eyes.

"I'm angry, and wounded," I snarled, "You should choose to leave me alone until I feel like talking to you."

It was more of a threat then a suggestion. I debated on smacking him away like the bug he was. The slight shift of my body was enough to make him back away. Ethan came back as Eric was backing off. He grabbed Eric's shoulder.

"My big friend is wounded right now so I think you should leave," Ethan gave Eric a good shove.

Eric gave Ethan a pissed look for a split second before my growl caused the nearby ground to vibrate slightly. Cutting off any comebacks he might have been thinking of. He wasn't stupid enough to push me any further. Ethan's arm was in a cheap cast. It wouldn't take long for him to heal.

Once I recovered from the mana sickness I'd be able to accelerate that healing process. Ethan's arm was broken but it would heal. Savannah's ribs were broken, but they would heal as well. I flicked my tail casually as Eric backed off. Ethan actually broke out into a sweat from the heat I was giving off.

He patted my nose before sitting down just out of the range of the heat. Him being there helped me relax. I lowered my head. Tucking my head under my wing, and relaxing completely. I let my fever run rampant.

Melting portions of the pavement beneath me, and evaporating anything that resembled liquid. I'd be sitting in quite the hole when the fever let up. I breathed in slow. My muscles relaxed completely. The release of tension was exactly what my wounds needed at that moment.

The pain eased up immediately. I closed my eyes. I couldn't fall asleep here, but that didn't mean I couldn't relax my muscles. I'd be able to move again when the fever finally let up. A slight tremor went through me every few minutes as the chill of this world tried to make its way through the heat haze my fever was giving off.

Ethan was concerned since I wasn't the type to get sick often. I flicked my tail calmly. It took me nearly a full day for the fever to let up. I was relieved by short bursts of sleep. I didn't attempt to cast any magic until I was completely fever free.

Allowing mana to flow through my wounds thoroughly. My enhanced regeneration took care of the rest. My wounds stitched themselves back together in a few short minutes. I stood, and stretched slowly. Phantom pain shot down my spine.

I was glad to be relieved of the deep gashes. My muscles relaxed after a second long stretch. Easing the pain until it was gone. The slight discoloration of the scales was the only evidence that I'd been wounded at all. It wasn't something a human would notice.

I wondered if the slight scarring would show up on my human body. Ethan surprised me by patting me on the shoulder. Drawing my attention to him, and away from my physical condition. I flicked my tail around him, and picked him up to set him on my back. It felt good to have him up there.

Savannah was close by as well. I started slowly walking toward her. The guards raised their weapons. Ready to launch an attack if needed. I just ignored the little weaklings.

They couldn't harm me so why should I pay any attention to them. I walked right past them. Turning to walk down the street as I scanned her mind again to find her. It wouldn't take me long to find her. I was being followed by half a dozen men.

They were carefully staying out of the range of my tail. Four of them were running ahead of me to make sure the path was cleared. Making sure I wasn't going to attack some hapless passerby. I was in a much better mood now so they didn't need to worry about it that much. I didn't mind it though.
