I didn't want people to be afraid of me in general, but I was ok with these people being afraid of me for now. They weren't my friends or allies yet. I wasn't going to pretend they were. I was intentionally walking slow so that our escort wouldn't have a problem catching up. Eventually I'd have this kind of escort every time I went anywhere.
I was going to become the dragon king after all. I couldn't just walk through streets casually like a normal person. Not unless I was hiding who I was. Really was too bad my human form cost me so much mana to use. I used to be human after all.
Being allowed to take the form I'd been born with nearly twenty years ago without it costing me anything would be nice. It wouldn't happen, but a guy could dream. I stopped outside of the building Savannah was in, and laid down slowly. She'd come down at her own pace. She didn't need me to prompt her further.
I laid down outside of the building calmly, and waited patiently. Surprising most of the people that were watching me with my calm demeanor. No one expected a beast like me to be calm or patient. I flicked my tail quickly. Wrapping my tail around myself slowly.
My wings were pulled in tight to my body. I was taking up the least amount of space my large body possibly could. I drew a lot of curious stares from the people around me. While I stayed completely calm. Ignoring them all.
I didn't care about any of the people here. I wasn't about to waste my time giving them my attention if they didn't need it. No one had made the mistake of attacking me, and my instincts were only picking up a small amount of danger. A small amount of danger wasn't something I really cared about. They wouldn't be able to do more then scratch me.
They wouldn't be allowed to do more then scratch me. They probably knew that. They wouldn't do anything stupid. Savannah came out about an hour later to walk up to me. I picked her up gently with my tail, and set her down on my back.
She winced slightly when my tail tightened a little too much around her middle. You'll be fine. I stood up slowly, and started walking. I stopped a few strides later.
"Where is Eric?" I looked down at the guards that had chosen to escort us.
Stunned silence followed.
"Is it really so surprising that I can talk?" I snorted, "Just tell me where he is."
He was so scared, and stunned that I'd talked to him directly that he just pointed a direction. I walked that direction with very little hesitation. Walking past the stunned, and scared idiot. It didn't take me long to come across an office that had nearly a dozen people in front of it. Eric looked like he was busy today.
He wasn't going to be happy that I was here. My muscles tensed. It was time to set my bonded down. I lifted my tail. Coiling it around Ethan, and then Savannah.
Lifting them both at the same time, and setting them down gently. Once they were down I switched to my human form. My jacket flared out slightly as I landed right behind them. I grabbed their shoulders as I walked by. Healing them both with a burst of light mana.
Causing both of them to glow slightly. Before Savannah's breathing eased, and Ethan broke his cast off. Just by tensing his arm. A sly smirk crossed his face, and Savannah just rolled her eyes. She knew I'd pull something like this when I crossed the guild to get her.
{You could have done that before you set me on your back,} she complained.
{Stop whining,} I smirked as the crowd parted for us, {I've had a bad couple of days too.}
My confidence was at an all time high as I walked right into the guild office. Past the line of complaining guild members.
"Please tell me that you've started moving your men north," the lobby was large, but my voice had the volume of a dragon.
The people directly around me flinched, and covered their ears. I would have lashed my tail back, and forth if I had one at the moment. Eric slammed the door of his office open.
"Who the hell do you think you are?" Eric shouted at me.
I crossed the room in an instant, and smiled at him with confidence. Eric was so stunned he went silent.
"I'm the prince of dragons," I patted his shoulder a little too hard for it to be friendly, "And the strongest guy in your guild at the moment. Now did you have your men move north or not?"
"Yes," He snapped as he tried to gain some semblance of authority, "Half the guild has been evacuated as well since there are far more wyverns then we anticipated."
"A few dozen more," my smile went away, "And that's not even including the females."
A sharp look from him made me want to bury his head in the high ceiling. I held back a snarl as my nails lengthened slightly. This guy pushes me anymore, and I might hurt him.
"Don't push your luck little guy," I whispered right before pulling away from him.
I was his ace in the hole. He wouldn't try anything against me. Not while he still needed me. I'd need to leave quickly when this was over. I didn't want to deal with his wrath later, and if all went well I'd be a hero of the guild.
They wouldn't love me, but they wouldn't be in a hurry to kill me either. Eric wouldn't be able to mobilize someone against me quickly. Not unless he was able to find everyone in the guild that hated archaics, and pit them all against me at once. I left quickly. Savannah, and Ethan came with me.
