Chapter 299 - 2

I slanted my body just enough to move my body just a little further away from the trees. I was incredibly grateful for my enhanced vision since it was the only reason I was able to see the trees coming at all. I swerved around yet another set of trees with such ease that it sent a thrill down my spines. Ethan's fear was replaced with his own exhilaration as our emotions mixed once again. The amount my emotion effected Ethan grew with the strength of our bond.

It was easier for me to cut off his emotions, and remain calm then it was for him. Part of that was the fact that Ethan wanted to feel connected. Something to do with his parents lack of parental affection, and a life filled with abuse. Abuse that was just allowed since Ethan wasn't as strong as his parents wanted him to be. As a third generation naturally born ability user he was expected to be incredibly strong compared to other ability users.

Unfortunately Ethan was just really strong for an ability user, and even though his ability could be strengthened with enough time. There was only so strong a single person could get before their body restricted them. Similar to the way my mana growth felt it was reaching a bottleneck. There was only so much a living body could take. I could feel my speed rapidly dropping as I continued on in this really long wavy flight pattern. I had to extend my wings fully again to keep myself stable in the air.

I enjoyed the speed diving gave me, but it was the thrill of dropping from the sky at breakneck speed that made me want to do it again. I flared my wings against the wind to slow myself even further before landing gently near the edge of a small lake. I sniffed at the water before giving it a taste. Glancing over to Ethan after he leapt off of my back. The water wasn't mana infused so I didn't see any problem with drinking it.

I drank my fill of water, and waited for Ethan to settle before trying to push him into doing anything besides sit here with me. If I didn't have a stupid, and oblivious guild leader to look after I would be perfectly fine with sitting out here forever. The calm grassland feel of the land, and the sparse tree cover made me feel both safe from too many eyes as well as not too closed in. My wings twitched as I reached out my bond toward Savannah, and Jax. I was just barely in range of them.

Any further, and I wouldn't be able to sense them at all. I snarled at the creatures that were daring enough to come closer to us. Most of them fled just at the idea of me attacking. I picked up Ethan, and placed him on my back. Ethan recognized what I wanted, and strapped himself in.

I went after the beasts that weren't smart enough to run while they had the chance. Devouring them like the snacks they were. I spent the rest of the flight back filtering the foreign mana out of my body, and away from my core. Landing in front of the warehouse quietly, and laying down to allow Ethan off of my back safely. He probably could have jumped off my back at my full height without a problem.

I knew I was babying him a bit, but he was the first of my bonded, and the strongest of my bonds. The saddle handled like I expected it to. I tried to pull the saddle within myself, but it didn't work. There was something wrong just like I thought. Something just a little off.

It wasn't damaged so I couldn't test repairing it with mana. The colored streaks lit up when I pulsed my mana through it. Creating my own personal light show in the dark of the night. Drawing some interested glances from the few people that were awake. I didn't pay them any mind, and started creating my own light shows.

Infusing just enough of my other elemental power into my light element to change the color of the light. Creating my own small version of the northern lights while toning up my elemental control a little more. Light element was an unnatural element, and all the unnatural elements were harder to level up. My wings flared open closing my light show off just enough that nothing behind me would be able to see what I was doing. It was fun to play with the light while it was dark out.

Plus it was helping with my mana manipulation, and was slowly helping my elements advance level wise. It felt like I'd hit a wall with lightning element, and no experiment I'd done with the element had seemed to do anything. I was curious if it had something to do with my age, and level, but there was no way for me to figure it out without making it to the next evolution. I inhaled slowly as I thought about what I might do with another element unlocked. Sure I had two unnatural elements already, and my foot in the door with a third element.

I had no clue whatsoever what would happen when I got the rest of the unnatural elements. I hadn't even seen gravity element in action. Let alone time. Time element was a foreign concept to me. At least I had an idea of what gravity could do.

Time was just a mystery to me. What kind of manipulation could magic give me over time? The previous dragon queen had a strong affinity with time. Her affinity would have to be quite powerful to allow her to see so far into the future. Was that the only thing the time element could do or was there something else that I didn't know about?

I sighed heavily before standing up casually, and folding my wings against my back. The guys guarding me looked almost disappointed by the sudden stop I put to the show. I hadn't been making any particular shape with my lights, but there wasn't much to be entertained by this late at night. They were stuck watching the warehouse all night with me there, and it wouldn't get better for them with time. Things would change when they found out who I really was.
