"What is this place?" I asked as I looked into one of the rooms she showed me.
"Dragon hold," she responded, "I built this place as a secret hideaway for my previous master."
"I'm guessing that your previous master was a dragon if this place is named dragon hold," I stepped into the room slowly.
"Yes," the white spirit nodded slowly, "It was one of her many plans. Dragon hold was meant to be a fortress hidden well below the surface that dragon's could retreat to in times of danger, but things rarely go as planned." she pointed to a symbol on the wall that looked like an H, "Press there to close the door. The rooms are not large, but they should contain everything you need."
The white spirit left us alone in confusion. She'd shown us to the three open rooms, and then just left us on out own. Jax closed the door to his room as soon as he'd gotten in it. I frowned to myself before going into my own room, and closing the door. Ethan walked back out to where Wyatt was.
The room was small just like she said it was. A bed, a toilet of sorts hidden behind a wall in the back, and a few small shelves build straight into the wall. Then there was a small pool of water up against the wall. It had a mark on the side that resembled fire, and another that looked like a snowflake. I pressed the fire symbol, and the water heated up.
I pressed the snowflake, and the water cooled until ice was forming around the rim. The pool was small, but it was also deep. It was positioned so that the small pool was in a dip in the floor, and had small holes in the lowest point of the dip to drain excess water out. I pressed the heat button again, and got the water up to a temperature was a bit too hot so it could cool while I was undressing. All this stress had pushed me further than I cared to mention.
I'd been taken away from my family, but I wasn't sure that was a bad thing as I lowered myself into the water. There was a seat build into the stone of the pool of water. I sat down on the little ledge, and relaxed into the warm water. I'd always convinced myself that my father was a good guy, because he was my father. Now that I thought about it I knew about things my father had done that were clearly wrong.
Like the way he initiated new mages. He would flood them with so much mana that their bodies literally bled from every opening. If they survived that then he would teach them how to use fire. I knew it was wrong, but I never questioned it because that was what my father had told me was required. I knew that my mother had been killed by an Archaic, but that didn't justify how he killed some of them.
It didn't matter if they were known to be hostile or not. My father killed them all. I frowned to myself since I'd been thinking so long the water had grown cold. I pulled myself up out of the water, and stepped out into the chilly air of the room. The air of the room heated up suddenly as I was hit with a massive warm gust.
It wasn't strong enough to knock me down, but I was dry in a matter of seconds as the pool emptied itself, and refilled with fresh clear water. This place might look somewhat medieval, but it was more modern than I expected. I pulled my clothes back on, and climbed into the bed to think about how I'd been uprooted. My whole life had been turned upside down in a matter of hours. Any chance I had at a military career like my father wanted for me was gone.
I didn't know what to do with my life now. This bed is way softer than I thought it would be. I relaxed into the softness of the bed, and let my worries drift away for now. I didn't want to think about the future right now. Honestly I didn't know what kind of future I would have from here on out.
Sleep came not long after that. When I woke I was still in the white room, and it was dark, but the room slowly brightened now that I was awake. I got off the bed, and decided to go check on Ethan, and Wyatt since I had nothing else to do here. I knocked on the wall/door that covered the room where Jax was staying to see if he was alright, but he didn't come out. I looked around at the hall that led to the rooms.
It was big enough for Wyatt to walk down if he wanted to, and the end had a chamber that looked like it was designed to house a dragon. Wyatt could actually grow a good ten feet taller before he'd even have to worry about his horns touching the roof. Even as big as Wyatt had grown he was still only about eight feet tall at the shoulder. The length of his neck put his head about sixteen feet in the air. Yet he could still grow another ten feet before his horns touched.
I was a bit curious what his length was from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail. I left Jax's room since he wasn't answering the door anyway. Heading Wyatt's direction thinking that Ethan would be wherever Wyatt was. I walked into the main hall, and sure enough Ethan was there with a sleeping Wyatt. Wyatt looked a lot better than he did the last time I saw him, but now his face, and claws were covered in blood.
It looked like he'd just woken up to eat, and that was it. Ethan was working on scrubbing the blood off his face at the moment with some rags, and a bucket of water. The white spirit just sort of appeared in the middle of the room. She cleaned the blood from Wyatt in an instant with her water magic. Ethan looked up at her with an irritated look, but didn't say anything.
