I dodged his next two strikes. Weaving into good position to knock his feet out from underneath him. He moved away out of range while jabbing me with some sort of invisible attack. What is his ability? I wondered as I opened up space between him, and me.
That invisible attack had me surprised. Maybe that was how he'd broken my wrist. It wasn't a wind attack. I would have felt the disturbance in the wind. It was something I hadn't dealt with yet.
Caution would be the best approach from here on out. I slammed him with another air burst. He swayed dangerously back on his feet. His arms wind milling as he caught his balance. I sent out another more focused burst of air, and that was all it took to put him on his back.
I closed in an instant. The shock on his face as I loomed over him sent thrills down my spine. His fear reminded me of my predatory nature, and made me hesitate slightly. I really was an aggressive creature now, but I needed to calm down, and hold onto that logical part of my brain as well. One quick jab to the nose with my fist was all it took to break it.
Blood started seeping out of his nose as I yanked him up by the collar. I hadn't gotten experience from him yet so he still had fight left.
"What did you want from them?" I smiled at him.
"None of your business," He spit at me as that invisible force threw me off of him.
My cruel smile dropped slightly as rage started to flood through me like a torrent.
"None of my business?" I laughed keeping up the psychotic killer attitude as I slammed him into the wall once again with the wind, "I didn't ask because I like the sound of my own voice jackass."
The hit drove all the air out of him, and he struggled to catch his breath as he fell to the ground again. He looked up to me as he tried to throw me off again with his ability. Now I knew it was coming though so I ducked under the disturbance in the air as it headed for my chest. I struck from that awkward crouched position. My hand found his throat as I pressed him into the ground.
"Try that again," My smile widened as I leaned in close to him, "I dare you."
I bet on the fact that most people couldn't dodge an invisible attack so my performance would be terrifying.
Mid level human opponent defeated 75 xp awarded. 915/3200 xp until level 13.
"Now," I let my smile slowly die on my lips, "What did you want from them, exactly?"
"They pick up credits for us," he mumbled over the cut in his tongue, "Protection fees."
"So you've got that kind of operation going?" I nodded as if I was thinking about it, "That means you're another collector, and not the one in charge." I shook my head slowly, "This doesn't bode well for you."
I could feel his pulse quicken in my grip.
"Hey what are you doing over there?" A teacher yelled from somewhere off behind me.
"Looks like our time together is short," I let go of his neck, "Let your friends know I'm coming after them next."
I stood up straight, and smiled at the teacher as I circulated the air around me. Kicking up dirt, and debris in bulk. Swirling it around me in a way that made it impossible to keep their eyes on me as I jumped as high as I possibly could with the wind behind me to boost the height of my jump. I ended up five stories up the side of the building next to me. I shimmied along the side of the building quickly as I headed for the ally side of the building.
I let the makeshift tornado die down slowly as I slipped myself around the corner. I clung to the building for a minute or so as I calmed myself slowly. I'd have to wait to change my face back until I got down. System can I survive a fall from this height?
Yes. User will suffer minimal skin damage with the possibility of broken bones.
I jumped. I hated guys like that so beating him, and sending a nice scary message to his friends was all the anger management I would need for a while. I know it's odd to think about the guy you just beat up while falling off a building, but I needed to think about something besides falling. Hitting the ground sent pain all the way to the roots on the top of my head. I checked the narrow space between the two buildings quickly, and changed my face back quickly since there was no one here.
I healed my legs just enough to walk normally as kids rushed in the narrow space where I was hiding.
"What happened?" A teacher I didn't recognize rushed towards me as I fake grimace.
"Some guy slammed me into the wall when he ran past me," I leaned on the wall as I was hurting.
Pretending you were hurt worse than you actually were was pretty easy. They didn't know that this much pain was nothing to me.
"Did you see what he looked like?" the teacher gripped my shoulder in a way that was supposed to be reassuring.
"No," I snorted angrily, "I was busy kissing the concrete."
"Go to the infirmary, and get yourself checked out right quick," he patted my shoulder, and pointed at a random student of the four that rushed in here with him, "You, go with him."
The student looked at the teacher as if he was going to grumble or protest, but decided against it as he draped my arm over his shoulder. I got my legs checked out at the infirmary, and a pass for missing the class from the grumpy medic that checked me out. I chuckled to myself as I headed to the last class of the day. I'd used a bit more mana than necessary in that fight, but I'd gotten off pretty light. Escaping from that teacher had been far easier than I'd thought it would be.
