Chapter 82 - Massacre

I ignored the notification as I jumped off grunt's rapidly hardening body, and took Shaun's bolt of electricity to the chest. I roared at him as all the electricity he'd poured into me swirled within my chest, and shot out my mouth twice as powerful. Shaun shuddered as my lightning went through him. His armor cracked as I closed my mouth cutting off the flow of electricity as it dropped back down in a place below my heart. I smashed through Savannah's cage.

Cutting through the cuffs, and tossing them to the side. Lightning danced along the edges of my scales, but none of my lightning touched her. I heard Shaun draw in a shuddering breath as he tried to lean up.

"No," I growled as his wide eyed terrified gaze settled on me, "You won't live through this."

He tried to drag himself to his feet as I strode over to him. The electricity I'd pumped into him had done some serious damage. I climbed over his stone grunt, and used his dead body as a spring board. Launching myself at Shaun. I locked my hands on his shoulders, and bit down on his head.

Wrenching it clean off his body. His head slowly turned to stone, but his body stayed flesh as it twitched on the ground. I hissed as the pain going through my intensified. Shouts rang out from outside the tent. The camp had noticed something off, and would come to investigate soon.

I pushed my pain back down as I swung my head around to get a look at what was around us. An idea clicked in my head as I looked at all the caged beasts. I used my wind slash to knock the locks off three cages at once. Yanking the gates open as I rushed past them to do the same to other beast cages. The angry caged beasts ignored me, and rushed outside.

I retreated back to check on Savannah as all hell broke loose outside. I hissed as the pain raced through me in more intensive waves. It was getting harder, and harder to bury this pain. I pushed her into one of the stronger cages quickly, and closed the door. Tying it shut with a bit of cloth, and hoping the beasts didn't notice that they could open the gate.

"Stay here," I growled cutting off any of her protest.

I rushed outside, and sprinted towards the closest enemy. Breathing electricity into him, and running off to kill the next one. There was only a small group of about twenty guys left in a tight circular formation. Several of the beasts were dead, and they weren't going to break through anytime soon. I opened my wings slowly.

They were well defended on all sides, but none of the beasts they were facing now could fly so the tops of their heads were exposed. I launched myself into the air with a single powerful beat of my wings. Catching the air, and using my wings to guide myself down to drop right in the middle of their formation. I cast freeze zone right in the center of their formation. Pouring all the mana I could pull in out into the spell.

Doubling the spells normal range. The men finally noticed me at the center of their group, but it was too late. Most of them were frozen to the ground now. I inhaled until my chest felt like it was about to break, and then poured lightning onto all of them. The ones that had decent armor on survived my attack, but being paralyzed stopped them from fighting the beasts that were desperately trying to get into their circle.

That burning pain that was going through me stepped it up a notch as I started chasing down the men who were trying to stand alone. My body was in pain. It was getting hard to move now that the adrenaline was wearing off. I struggled my way back to Savannah, and pulled open her cage. In all my running around I'd spotted the above ground bunker that the group had been sleeping in.

I was ready to let loose my murderous intent if one of the beasts decided to attack me, and Savannah. I growled at anything that came close to us as lightning ran over my scales. I let Savannah open the door, and we locked ourselves in. The lightning on my scales faded slowly now that we weren't in danger. All the exhaustion, and pain of the day came down on me like a hammer.

I folded right next to the door. I heard Savannah call out to me before my mind followed my body down.

"Wyatt!" I grabbed a wing, and tried to pull him up, "Wake up you idiot."

I pulled on him until the noise outside stopped. The complete silence after all the screaming, and roaring made a chill go down my spine. Wyatt on the other hand? His wings pulled back in tight as he curled into a more comfortable position. His mana was slowly settling within his body.

Something had happened to his body right after his mana had run out. All of his light colored scales had started falling out, but new scales had grown in their place so quickly that I never saw bare skin. The difference in color was the most obvious change. Going from a light white, and grey to black with hair thin stripes of color in the middle of each of his scales was almost the complete opposite of the color he'd been before. I'd never seen such a complete, and total color change that wasn't some sort of magic.

I could tell he wasn't using magic so this was his natural color now, but even his complete change of color didn't freak me out as much as what happened when he'd bit into that guy. Right when his scales had started falling out. I stared at the body while all hell was breaking loose outside. His bite had turned someone to stone. The guy was probably already dead when he turned to stone, but that didn't make it any less disturbing.
