The Ain-Soph-Ur mansion was fixed the same day. Very strangely, the attack was short, and ended as soon as Silva ran away. Alissa Ain-Soph-Ur sat in the Boss's seat, staring at a map that depicts three-dimensional Italy. Different colors were splashed everywhere, the color occupying the majority of the map was red. She held chess pieces in her left hand, twirling each one in turn, while her right hand held the map steady. Small chrome buildings, like one might find in a Monopoly set, represented the business under the Ain-Soph-Ur Family protection, while red buildings represented businesses that are owned by the family. There were eleven other maps like it, but the color coverages were different. Red might cover the most, but it's by a very small margin.
She threw the map off the desk and lit a cigarette. The door to the office opened to reveal a young man dressed in camo pants and white T-shirt. He had a chocolate wafer stick in his mouth, mimicking a cigarette. He had black hair, reminding her heavily of her little brother. He was even the same height.
"Ta-da!" He twirled, spinning his necklace and its Bishop pendant. "Looks like you did a number on the Family, just to sit that crappy throne."
Alissa flicked a marble at him, which he caught easily between his thumb and forefinger. "Cleaning up the rubbish is the first thing to do when you want to remodel, right?"
"True, true." He picked up a book from the shelf lining the walls of the office. "By the way, we captured the External Advisor honey trap. Want me to kill her?"
She laughed. "No." She knows without a doubt that he would torture her, and although she was dealing with a traitor, she has a certain heart for Reilly specifically. "Bring her here. Without doing anything. I will know, Giovanni."
He closed the book and waved her off. "Yes, yes, yes." He snapped a cellphone from his pants open and dialled. "Bring her in."
The door opened and Alissa could have decapitated Giovanni right at that moment. Reilly's dress was torn to show her breasts, bruises were everywhere, she was dripping blood from her forehead, some of it was dried, indicating that it has been quite some time since the wound was opened. Her full lips were cut, and she was breathing through her mouth. Her nose was broken. There were marks of tears on her cheeks. The men dropped her as if she was just a sack and left at Giovanni's whim.
"You son of a bitch!" Alissa ran to Reilly and helped her to a sitting position. "What the fuck, Giovanni?! My orders were that no one be hurt while retrieving the half-pendant!"
"I didn't hear that part." He scoffed. "Or maybe I did, just didn't give a shit. Traitors are traitors, and should be dealt as such, 'Boss'"
Alissa was already calling medical help for Reilly, who was already unconscious. Her glare was met with an unimpressed stare. He was the only one who could manage to look indifferent when she glared, a look that shot terror into everyone 3 generations over. It was something she inherited from her father, a useful tool.
"Reilly, I'm so sorry..." She whispered to Reilly, though she knows she can't be heard. When the medics took the injured woman away, Alissa lit another cigarette. "You are absolutely disgusting, Giovanni. You disgust me."
"Yet here I am." He sneered. "Yet here, you gave me this position. You made me your tool, and I accepted. You did this, all of this."
She winced. He was right, of course he was right. Sometimes she did regret choosing him, but he was different back then. Somehow more gentle, somehow more tolerable, somehow, sometime in the past. A different time. "When the power of this office is with me, I will kill you." She meant it. In her heart of hearts she created a monster, perhaps she created monsters, just as her father had made her.
"And if you fail, I will kill you."
"Watch me stain this map with red." Alissa slammed her hand on the desk, knocking the figures down. "I'll use your blood to do it." She signalled him to leave, and he understood that if he didn't walk out the doors, his blood will stain the walls instead of the map.
She walked back to behind the desk and pondered. It's been around 9 hours since her brother has ran away, and around 4 hours since he disappeared off the Port of Naples. Personnel were still trying to catch Romino Elias to try and get information. News of the passing of the Ain-Soph-Ur boss has spread to other Mafia families, and she would now have to defend the Family territories.
"It's Papa's fault." She whispered. She was raised inside this office, peering over Antonio's shoulder. That was his first mistake. A prodigy at a young age, Alissa soon figured out that he has been willingly letting other Families gain more territory. She realized what he wanted to do, and she had to stop him. If the power left Ain-Soph-Ur, they would be under intense pressure. She and her brother. She and her friends.
"I will make us the most powerful Family again, Papa." Behind the desk was the pictures of the past 11 Bosses, Antonio being the 11th. All of them wore the same suit and wore the exact same pendant. She fingered the half pendant hanging from her neck. The cut was clean in the middle, making it look like a bloody wing instead of a blazing fire. The bloody wing of a fallen angel.
Below the pictures, there was a window overlooking most of southern Italy.
At the exact same time, someone was looking at her direction, 30 miles away.
The Casnero Family Boss.
He was in a dark room, holding a camera in his right hand, where a sparkling ring embedded with a sizeable sapphire in the shape of a blooming flower." The winds of change bring a tempest." He sighs and picks up a glass of water. "Will you smile for my camera?"
