Chapter 3 - Knowing Your Dreams

The day has already been hectic and Alexa was not yet in for an earful from anyone. She winces as she struggles with the packages, returning the phone into her bag.

"There you go." Standing there for a moment, her mind wandered to the journey ahead.

"Can this day get any worse...?" she sighed, "Got to go before another call comes in."

With a sweaty face and tired feet, Alexa staggered to the bus stand. Not long has she got there that the bus pulled up. She picked up her things and glided in.

"So..rry.., so..rry..." she made her way to the seat, her bags hitting some passengers in the process.

"Phew..." she drops the bag in between her legs since there was enough room. "I'm so done with this. Mum will have to get these herself the next time."

She packed the bags well as she relaxed back on her seat, taking a quick glance at her wrist watch.

"I hope I make it there on time with this hell of a traffic."

With Alexa looking through the glass window, the bus sped off. The passing breeze lingers through her eyes and soon, Alexa drifted off to sleep.

The bus drove through the town but this time with fewer traffic jam. Alexa was still asleep and didn't know when the bus pulled up at the bus stop.

"Mac Doe's street" the automated speaker announced making Alexa jolt up from her sleep.

"I will alight here." she hastily uttered as she picked up the bags, rushing towards the exit.

"Thank you.."

She step out of the bus, dropping the bags on the floor as she composed herself well. At that moment, the bus also drove off. She looked down on the bags on the floor with a sigh as she picked them up one after the other, adjusting them on her arms.

"Why do I have to go through all this trouble today of all days. This really sucks."

Alexa checked her time again and it was almost 3pm. She still had some few minutes to walk before getting to her auntie's house despite the weight of the bags killing her.

"You can make it Alexa, let's do this."

She drew in a deep breath and continued on her walk.

*****************

Curtisia was lying on the couch, singing to herself in the hall when the bell rang.

"I'm coming...."

She scaled over the couch and staggered towards the door. Alexa stood impatiently in wait as the door slowly cracked opened revealing a blonde hair girl about her age wearing a bright smile.

"Alexa.....!" she rushed in for a hug, almost pushing her down.

Alexa giggled, "Careful Curtis." they drew back from the hug. "Help me here, this bags are killing me."

"My bad..., let me help you." she took two of the bags from her as she let her into the house. "Gosh Alexa, these bags are so heavy. How did you manage to carry them along here."

"Don't know..." she shrugged, "guess I have some supernatural strengths."

"Mm..., you should tell me more." They continued to the hall chatting and giggling.

Auntie Hilda was somewhere around the house when the girls got to the hall. Alexa slowly dropped the bags on the table, scanning her eyes through the room for her auntie but didn't see her anywhere.

She turned her gaze to Curtisia who was dropping the bags beside her.

"Where is Auntie Hilda..?"

Curtisia lifted her gaze from the bags, her eyes searching through the room. "She was...., Mum...,Mum..."

"Coming dear..." She replied from the backyard.

Curtisia glanced back at Alexa with a smile. "I guess I don't need to answer that."

"Hmm..." she shook her head lightly.

"Yeah, come." she grabbed Alexa's hand, pulling her to have a seat in one of the couch. "Now tell me, how did your dance...."

Alexa immediately covered Curtisia's mouth with her hand. "Shush Curtis," she glanced around for any sign of her Auntie and glanced back at Curtisia. "Bring your voice down Curtis." she loud whispered, taking her hand off Curtisia's mouth. "Auntie doesn't know about the competition. I'm not ready to have her walking in on us now and start nagging. It has been a hectic day already."

"Mm.." Curtisia gasp, tilting her head to teasingly.

Alexa chuckled, "Enough about me already. How far with your music class and violin lessons."

"Well..," she sat well in the couch, folding her legs in a cross like form. "So far so good. At least mum has stopped nagging me around."

"That's good for you then. You should....."

"Alexa..." a voice called from behind them making Curtisia and Alexa turn deftly to the direction of the call.

"Oh auntie..." Alexa shrugged about to get up.

"No, No, sit down." Auntie Hilda gestured her as she went over to them. Alexa Scott over, making room for her auntie to sit down.

"How are your parents?" Auntie Hilda asked as she settled down next to Alexa.

"Well.., They are fine."

"How about you?"

"Me..." she glanced sceptically at her auntie. "I'm good."

"I can see that Alexa but I'm talking about your education. You are in your final year now. What have you plan on doing after your exams?"

"Um.., about that. Well I'm planning on writing the entrance exams to Liberty high."

"Hope you're not taking up dancing as a profession."

"Well.... Aunt, that's what I plan on doing."

"But Alexa, you...."

"I know auntie but that's what I love doing. You should understand me."

"I understand you dear but why don't you join Curtisia and take up violin lessons. It's suits you more. Your mother is worried about your future dear."

Alexa sighed as she took her Auntie's hand into hers. "I know you guys are worried about me but trust me, I know what I'm doing. I promise I'm going to make you guys proud."

Auntie Hilda stared at Alexa for a while and nodded her head. "Alright dear, if that's what you love to do then you mother and I will do our best support you."

Alexa's face instinctively brightened with a smile as she pulled her aunt into a hug.

"Aw..., that's so...cute" Alexa and Auntie Hilda heard Curtisia exude from behind them, making them slowly let go off each other as they swiftly glanced at her with a smile.

"Well, well.., enough of the sweet talks both of you. I'm really starving, can we start moving to the kitchen now..?"

"Okay, okay Curtis let's go."

"I think I will skip this." Alexa said, picking up the bags as she stood up. "I need to get going now aunt, it's already running late and mum needs these things for meals this evening. I promise I will eat with you guys some other time."

"Alright dear." she draped a hand on Alexa's shoulder. "Curtisia, you should help Alexa with the bags to the bus stop."

"Okay mum.."

Curtisia picked up two of the bags. "Let's go Alexa."

"Okay, Bye aunt..."

"Bye... dear." She shuffled off to the kitchen whiles Alexa and Curtisia also sauntered out of the house, slowly closing the door behind them.
