Chapter 3 - Chapter Two: Magical Accident On The Lake

"How are you, Lady Evy?" Asked maid Julie, Evy's personal maid, and now mine. It was hard to get used to this life, especially being surrounded by so many people. "I'm fine, Julie." I smiled at her, like the old Evy used to do before being changed.

Only two weeks have passed since that confrontation with Evy's father, and still accept the truth of reincarnating like her. But so far, I can't believe this is happening. It's difficult, because I don't know and don't even remember the names of many people here. But thanks to the false fact (memory loss), nobody was surprised by the change.

In my other life I used to read the novel "Beloved Lady", the story took place with Mary, the main character, who was the lost daughter of a duke. The Crown Prince, the male leader, fell head over heels in love after meeting Mary, the girl of his childhood who saved him from drowning. Soon they fell head over heels in love, and suffered from Evy's hatred and envy. One day she tried to kill Mary on the day of her debut in society, but she died by the sword of the Crown Prince, the man she loved.

That was the worst novel I have ever read. As always the villain dies, and the Prince and Princess live happily ever after. Something boring. In all history Mary was just an idiot girl who believed everything everyone said. The Crown Prince is a charlatan to fall in love just because she saved him. But after all, what happened to the villain? People did not think about the story.

As I am she, now I know what she was going through because she was still despised by society. She is the daughter of a Mage, a non-human being, who married a hybrid (human-non-human). This woman, died when Evy was born. So, she was raised by her father, who, despite being an unwelcome being in society, used his title of Master Mage to get a title as Gran Duke.

On second thought, Evy may have been bad, but she had neither her mother nor her father present. He's busy all day, and she couldn't even leave the house a lot because she was always sick. She just wanted to be happy.

"Julie ..." I call her. She finished the hairstyle on my hair. The pink hair matched this appearance. Evy looked like an angel after all. "Yes, Lady?" She heard. "What happened to my mother?"

She was silent for a moment. I only heard about this woman once, and I don't even know her name. "She ... As you know, Mrs. Manneville died in childbirth. That's all I know ..." She said. But for me she knew too much. I think everyone hides it from me.

"Hmm ... Thanks for saying." I thanked her. Julie smiled seeing my unsatisfied face. But I think it happened at other times, so it shouldn't be a surprise. I got up from the chair in front of the dressing table, sitting on a set of sofa nearby. She followed me, pouring a tea that I already tried to be bitter. I took a sip just for the sake of it, and saw an uncomfortable smile every time I looked at her. There was something more wrong than that tea.

"Julie? Do you want to tell me something?" When I asked her, she felt a little more at ease. I think because she had "amnesia" she was afraid to say something. I remember that Evy's father was overprotective to his daughter for his illness, and also, his nature can be scary when someone feels it. "Lady ... Do you really not remember anything?" She asked, making me curious. Maybe she and old Evy have a secret. But which? " Yes. I don't remember anything. I only know a few things from what Dad said ... But why do you ask that? Do you have something to tell me?"

The fingers of his hands twitched. Just by seeing, I knew she needed to say something to me. So it was quick when she got closer to me. "Miss, be careful. Please don't go to the lake again."

Ah. The lake. In the book it was described that the Manneville family had a gigantic property with beautiful gardens. There is a lake on the property, where Evy talked to Mary for the first time. It was a party with other wealthy families, where Mary kissed the Crown Prince for the first time. And guess what? It took place right at the Manneville lake, where Evy earned his deep hatred for Mary.

But what I don't understand is why she says about this lake. Maybe something happened before Evy died? "Don't worry, I won't be going." I said to reassure.

One of which I was reborn as Evy is that I must not make mistakes. If I make a false step, I will enter anyone's obstacle line. But, out of curiosity, I will try to find out what I may have in that lake.

It was after midnight. Julie and a few other employees left my room. Soon after came the visit of Evy's father, who left after about ten minutes. So, I waited for my chance to leave. However, I remembered what was written in the novel. Evy's father is a highly strong Mage. He has magic in his favor, and that is why Evy had this characteristic. She couldn't use it directly, so her father did. In the novel, the mansion was highly protected by magic, whoever tried to enter suffered. But when she died, the Crown Prince suffered no damage, because his sword was of his own magic.

If I were to leave, I have to be careful to go through everything. My father would not be at home, he would be in the tower because of work. There are guards at my bedroom door, but if I used magic, I could easily get past them. The problem is that I don't use magic, and I don't know how to use the magic objects that Dad gave me. "I'm going to have to learn it now. It's the way."

I am 45% sure that it works, and the other 55% is that it goes wrong. When I passed over the door, covered with a cloak, I saw two guards at the door with their eyes open. I almost gave up, but I saw an object in the room and threw it away. The noise was dye and they ran to find out. That was the moment, I ran away from there, holding a magic object in my hand.

They didn't even see me when I went down the hall to the left and then to the right. I saw the back door after the kitchen, and opened it up to the gardens. Evy must have come here already, because when I saw it, the lake was right in front of me. "Wow" I exclaimed with beauty. The lake was more beautiful than described in the book.

Why did Julie say not to come to the lake? I don't see anything different. Just a lit lake and a curious person. Nothing could happen here. It is protected and guarded by the Tower Master.

"I envy you ... You have a wonderful father and beautiful gardens ... Why become evil?" I said thinking about the lake shore. The water is cold. It reminded me of me with a cold heart. It was quick, but the feeling of being killed was painful. "Ouch!" My fingertips hurt when I touched the water more.

Surprised, to feel something pull me into the lake.

It was so fast I didn't even realize it. That pain in my fingers, and then, disoriented, I fell into the lake. How stupid am I?

"Help!" I screamed with all my might. Nobody heard me. I didn't see anyone. Nobody knows I'm here. I choked myself trying to swim, even though I didn't know I knew. It didn't cross my mind that I was going to die again. Not now. I want to live. Be happy. And get out of this story. Two weeks have passed, and now I'm going to die? No. I don't want to accept that.

I AM NOT EVY, AND I WON'T ACCEPT ANOTHER PATHETIC END.

"Cough! Cough!" The water that entered my lungs came out almost with my organs. I felt something after taking everything bad, seen on the lake shore that I almost drowned. I turned around, seeing myself lying on the grass, still close to the lake. I'm wet. And with the help of no one, I managed to get out of the lake, without remembering how. When I turned to look in front of me, I felt something new in me, a weight maybe. And in my surprise, I felt something furry pass over my bare feet.

"Master?" A puppy, looking like a wolf, spoke in a human voice. It had black hair with blue parts, like a magical animal. A huge striped bow was made behind his neck. It's beautiful to see an animal like that, but not one who speaks!

"Ahh!" I cried out in fright. I ran away, forgetting that animal. I don't even know how I had the strength to run, but I hope I don't see this animal again.

It was just a dream! It was just a dream!

On the way back, I didn't even care if they would see me wet ir not. It took a while to stop saying that it was just a dream, and that I didn't see that animal. "It's just a dream, Evy!" I repeated it in my mind, until I found myself in my room, watching my father sitting.

He was serious, and he didn't smile like he used to. I may be in trouble, and very ugly ...
