Mordred had to walk home due to dismissing his carriage several days ago. It took him about an hour due to him being distracted with thoughts of the possible evolutions that he could go through.
He was so distracted, that he did not notice the carriage pull up beside him until he heard his name being called by a young, female voice.
When he looked up to see who was calling him, he saw Bast sticking her head out of a carriage and waving to him.
"Need a ride, handsome?"
Mordred nodded before walking over and climbing into the large carriage with Nyx floating beside him. As soon as he entered, he was disgusted by what he saw.
There were 8 very familiar faces that he had spent the past several years with. Each of them was someone that he had grown very close to and saw as siblings.
What disgusted him was not them though. It was the interior of the carriage itself. Bast was a very traditional girly-girl and her carriage reflected that.
It was covered from floor to roof in pink and fluffs. If it was in moderation, Mordred would not have minded. But there was literally not an inch of the carriage that was not either pink or fluffy.
Mordred looked at the available seats before decided to sit on the edge next to Kali and across from Mania.
He gave everyone a nod in agreement without even asking why they were all gathered together. He had a pretty good guess.
'These guys have probably been hunting together to try and decide which teams they will form in the academy.
And that is probably why all of them are staring at me instead of talking like they usually do.'
All eyes, besides Persephone, were on Mordred. Trying to pick up any clues from his body to see how powerful he was.
"Just ask what you want to ask. I don't really have a choice of answering or not."
With his permission, the others did not hesitate to shower him in questions.
"I hear you have a familiar and are following your theory. How is that going?"
"Your system should have access to some good stuff. Can you purchase rare materials or plants?"
"What level are you? I can tell you are weaker than us but you also don't feel that weak either. You don't seem like you will cross the 3-month, level 100 barrier. Is that due to your familiar?"
"How powerful is your system? From what I heard from Persephone, it will start getting weak sooner or later."
"What are your thoughts on the final teammate for us? You already agreed to partner with me and I have an idea who I want our third to be."
No one waited for the others to ask their question and shot them all off at once. Mordred expected most of the questions as well as them discovering the weakness of his system.
Persephone and Satana were the 'smartest' out of the 9 besides Mordred. They would have definitely figured out the weakness of his system after seeing it in action/ hearing about what it could do.
"I have only put Nyx through her first evolution. I can't tell whether my theory will work out until I get her through at least 2 more.
I have access to rare materials but not plants. I can get stuff like Thunderbolt Iron, Astral Obsidian, or even better stuff. They cost a bit but they are worth it.
Level 50. I probably won't break it because I took 2 months to train my inscriptions to the beginning of the intermediate level, not because of Nyx. I will probably reach it by 4 or 5 months.
You can decide. I know that as smart as you are, you are also very competitive. You will want to form the best team and not lose to others."
Mordred answered all of the questions except for Satana's since he knew he needed to provide special attention to it. He had no intention of hiding what he had found out about evolutions or his thoughts of possibly getting more powerful evolutions.
He told them he would inform them about it when they got to his place. The others saw how serious he was so they agreed and began to talk about other, more relaxed topics for the rest of the ride.
He waited until they arrived at his home before bringing them to the secret chamber inside. No one would be able to eavesdrop or spy on them in there.
Once he confirmed that the room was sealed and all the inscriptions were activated, Mordred spoke up about his system.
"Overpowered. The guns become useless by level 100, maybe can last until the late 300s with inscriptions, but the system has other things that make it great.
The main thing is a medicine that will give permanent stat bonuses along with chances of gaining extra magical talent, beast traits, a subclass, and a unique ability.
But the most miraculous thing about this medicine is that it allows people to evolve like creatures."
Mordred then began explaining his theories and the evolutions that he had available to him. He did not mind sharing this with the other since he knew that they would not allow others to know, even their parents, without his permission first.
That was how much the group trusted each other.
When he finished, all 8 looked at Mordred with shock in their eyes. His words were just too surprising.
"You mean I could become a True Dragon!?" asked Kali in shock. Satana was also looking at Mordred very closely when she heard Kali ask this.
While Mordred's evolutions may have seemed plain to him because of his ego and pride, everyone knew just how powerful each one of those races and their abilities was.
Even if the others only got the first option, and made it to the next step of their race without becoming a truly different race, their combat abilities and stats would shoot through the roof.
Mordred took a moment to think before nodding. Then he shook his head. Then he nodded once again.
"I mean yes but is that all you want? Think about it. Do you simply wish to evolve into a plain dragon who can control the elements you have or do you truly wish to be a dragonlord who will have legends about them?
The mythical Black Rose Dragon, Archfiend Dragon we heard stories about destroying worlds when we were younger, the Fairy Dragon whose blood is said to be responsible for the fae's very existence.
You all are thinking too small! We were going to be stuck at the same level our parents and all the other demon lords and emperors of the past have been at.
But now? We are able to evolve and evolve into a much more powerful race at that.
We have a chance of even breaking the level barrier! The thing that truly makes use mortals!"
Hearing Mordred's words, anyone would think he was mad. But the 8 others did not. They were all proud.
Even if it was not their sin, they knew of their strength and were proud. They knew that at the rate they were going, they would end up being the same as their parents with very few differences.
The demons may have been the strongest of the people who walked the earth, but they knew that they did not rule it.
Creatures who had no leveling limit and could constantly evolve were the true rulers of the planet.
But with Mordred's system and serums, they would no longer walk in anyone else's shoes or fear being weaker than others. They would be able to truly forge legends all of their own.
In each of their eyes was longing when they thought up to there and silently agreed with Mordred.
'Why should we be content with just being any old dragon or devil? Why should we not aim for getting as powerful as we can get?
Who cares about the SSS rank when the X rank may not be far off?
Even if his ideas of rare evolutions are wrong, what is wrong with hoping he is right? It costs nothing more than some time which we have plenty of.'
Everyone looked at each other and could see the desire in their eyes. It was Mania who asked the most important question.
"So how will we accomplish this?"
