As much as Mordred wanted to read his new book, he knew that he would be unable to with his cousin around. The girl had too much energy and would rarely give him a moment of peace.
And his choice was correct. Kali quickly put the book back in her bag so that it would not get dirty while the duo was going to play. Their first stop, the kitchen.
Kali led Modred and Lora toward the kitchen inside the mansion. Although Mordred knew that the girl had eaten lunch before she arrived, he did not comment. He knew that the dragon was a little glutton.
As they passed through the building, Mordred and the other's could see all the weapons and beast parts that decorated the walls. They were collected by Modred's mother of all of her greatest challenges.
When they arrived at the dining room that was connected to the kitchen, they were greeted with a buffet on the table with various dishes, mostly meats.
Seeing the feast before her, Kali was literally drooling. She grabbed Mordred's hand and brought him to the table to sit next to her.
As soon as the duo sat, Kali started reaching for as much food as she could. Whenever something was out of reach, she would send a pleading look to Lora or one of the other maids and would get passed the dish.
While Kali was enjoying her food, Mordred pulled out [Unfamilair Familiars] and began reading it. He knew he had a solid hour with the amount of food on the table.
[Welcome. We assume you are reading this due to your interest in Darkness elemental creatures and elementals. The first chapter shall go over the basics while the other's will go into the different beasts by type and rank.
First what you must learn are ranks. All creatures have ranks attached to them, even you. Ranks are the first and foremost in deciding the victor between to creatures of similar power levels.
Ranks start as low as E before going up to X although there has been no confirmed X rank creature yet. They are just creatures theorized to exist that are able to be put into the same categories as others.
Creatures are given ranks. Ranks determine how much experience is gained by killing them as well as how many stat points a creature gains per level up due to their race. Ranks are divided into 3 categories based on the number of points one could get per rank, which are low, mid, and high. Creatures A rank and higher gain one innate race skill per rank.
Low Rank
-E: 1-5 stat points per level
-D: 6-10
-C: 11-15
Mid Rank
-B: 20-30
-A: 30-40, 1 innate race skill
-S: 40-50, 2 innate race skills
High Rank
-SS: 100-200, 3 innate race skills
-SSS: 201-350, 4 innate race skills
Animals/beasts receive up to triple the stat points that humanoids of the same rank. Ex: D-rank Wind Fox will receive 25 stat points per level while humans receive 10 points per level. This is why many magic-users get a familiar or elemental.
Their powerful natural bodies make up for any of the magic-users lack of physical stats or elemental weaknesses. The main weaknesses of familiars and elementals are that they take away an equal amount of your experience points, Ex: 1 familiar is 1/2 each while 2 familiars are 1/3 each, familiars and elementals take a particular skill to contract with, and in order to contract with one, a person must conquer the creature and have it willingly submit to the user.
All of these reasons cause familiars to be very unpopular especially among magic-users who wish to gain experience fast so they have access to more powerful spells.
Next, we will talk about...]
Before Mordred could continue, he felt a finger poking his cheek. Mordred let out a small mental sigh before turning to see Kali glaring at him.
'She was probably saying something and noticed that I was not responding.'
He gave her a look to let her know that he was now listening and asking her to repeat again. Kali let out a grunt of frustration before repeating what she said.
"I said, I remembered mother saying something about an auction tonight. She has a room reserved and said we can go if we want to. Are you interested?"
Mordred thought about it for a moment before nodding. He had heard of auctions but never been to one and was curious about what the place was like. He also hoped to have something that would distract Kali for a while so he could read his book in peace.
Having gotten the response she was hoping for, Kali returned to eating the food before her. Because he did not want to be caught off guard again, Mordred no longer read his book and just sat there patiently while Kali finished.
After the hour-long second lunch, it was only 4 o'clock. The children still had 3 hours before the auction began.
Kali decided that she deserved a nap after eating so she dragged Mordred with her into the guest room she usually used. She then used Mordred as a body pillow while she slept off her meal.
Mordred was stuck to the little girl. Every time he would try to escape, her grip tightened and the position got harder to escape from. After 3 attempts, Kali was nearly choking her cousin, so Mordred had no choice but to surrender to fate.
Modred finally drifted off to sleep. A couple of hours later, both little demons were awakened by Lora before being dressed and fed. Lora said she wanted to ensure that neither was hungry during the auction.
With only 30 minutes until the auction started, the group entered their carriage and made their way to the Sloth district, which was next to the Wrath district.
The trio saw Shiva right outside the auction but the look on her face was not too happy. When the group got closer, they noticed that several of the lower-ranked consorts were also present and trying to convince Shiva to let them join her in the 1st Tier VIP room Shiva had reserved.
Shiva was trying to come up with excuses when she saw the others approach. She ran over and scooped both children up in her arms.
"Sorry but my sister-in-law does not like having Mordred around strangers. You understand, right?" the succubus asked with a kind smile on her face.
Everyone else knew that the smile was not kind but a threatening one. Shiva was using the Demon Lord's name to scare them off but none were bold enough to call her out on it. Not only due to her rank, but also because Kore would most likely confirm it just to start a fight.
The consorts decided it was not worth it before giving Shiva a small bow and heading towards the lower-ranked VIP seats.
Shiva sent a bright smile toward Mordred and the others before bringing them into the venue and up to their room.
