Chapter 4 - The Party

Mary sighed in relief, "Just being around those two is quite mentally draining, how were you able to act so calmly around them."

"What do you mean? They did not seem that bad, although they are a bit on the odd side."

My face seemed to show confusion so Mary explained, "Remember how I said that those two are high ranking Gods, I actually meant it. Var is ranked seventh while Uke is ranked fifth."

"Out of how many Gods? One hundred, one thousand, one million?"

"No, there are a seemingly infinite amount of Gods. Even getting to one-millionth place is a massive achievement. But those in the top ten are the best of the best, the strongest and most influential Gods. It is almost impossible to reach the top ten."

"Then why did they decide to visit me? I just got here, I'm the lowest rank, but two of the top ten visited me."

Mary had a confused look on her face, "Well they did call us a few days before you came here when we were getting ready for your arrival. They said something about you being different from the others."

"I should go ask them about what the meant then."

Mary waved her hands in front of her as to stop me, "We can't do that right now, you need to learn how to use your powers. Oh, I forgot to tell you that as well, all Gods can use magic and your level of magic power corresponds to your God ranking. The God's level of magic far outcompetes the mortals."

"Alright then, how do we begin?"

"There will be a teacher that will come to teach you in the training room. She will come every day for a few years, its not easy learning such high-level spells. But that will all begin tomorrow, so how about we go inside so we can start off the tour of the house."

It looked like the time was just around noon so we had a few hours to look around the mansion.

There were so many rooms that it was hard to remember them all, but some of the important ones were the massive library, a study room which nobody else was allowed into other than me and Ann, so she can clean. There was also a pool, the training room, the bath, and my personal restroom.

The day was coming to a close Mary turned to me, "Well that is just a small portion of the mansion but you will find out what the rest of the rooms are some other day. But now I do believe Thomas and the cooking crew should be done making the feast."

"Well, I guess it is my first day here so it would make sense for there to be a small celebration now that I am here. So where are we going to eat."

Mary smiled, "Don't wory, I will take you to the party room. That is where everyone will be."

We walked for around 10 minutes until we reached a set of fancy looking doors. Past those doors, I heard quite the commotion, but it sounded like quite the number of people where in that room.

I opened the door and I saw all of my servants standing behind their chairs. Also, everyone stopped talking and looked my way.

Mary whispered in my ear, "Go and sit at the end of the table, so we can begin."

When I began walking over to the end of the table, everybody just kept watching me as if I were something that should not be there.

I got to my seat and sat down, after I sat everybody else sat. "Well I guess it can be considered respect, but I gotta make sure they stop doing that, its kind of weird." I thought to myself.

When I sat down I saw that the table was split into different groups, one for each of the crews. But the entirety of the cooking crew was absent from the table.

The people sitting around me were starting from the left Mary, me, Ann, Gilbert, then Lucy.

I must have been making it obvious that I realized that something was wrong with the setup of the table so mary reassured me that everything was normal, "Thomas and the cooking crew will be here in just a moment. They were waiting for you to get here and sit."

As if they were waiting for Mary to say that, aside door that probably lead to a kitchen swung open and a stream of cooks rolling carts filled with plates of food came out of it. The one leading it all was Thomas. He was holding an intricately designed ceramic bowl filled with an opaque orange liquid.

Thomas walked to me with the bowl in hand and stopped to the left of my chair. The rest of the cooks rolled their carts to their designated locations. Once everyone was in place, Thomas and the rest of the cooks placed the bowls down onto the table.

Thomas leaned over my shoulder and put down the bowl, "This is Apple-butternut Squash Soup, please use the rightmost spoon. I hope you enjoy it."

All of the cooking crew then took their own bowls and sat down with them.

I looked up at everyone, and they were staring back at me. "Master, they are waiting for you to be the first one to eat." Thomas whispered.

I filled my spoon up with the soup and ate it. It was something that I had never experienced in my past lifetime, it tasted better than anything I had ever eaten before. "Mmm, this is f****** amazing. Whops sorry for my language."

Thomas breathed out in a sigh of relief while the rest of the cooking crew had joyous looks on their faces but it looked as if they were holding themselves back from celebrating. Wait actually, nobody was talking other than Thomas, Mary, and me the whole time I was here.

"Mary, why is nobody talking?"

"It is seen as disrespectful to you if we talk to you without being spoken to first."

I let out a long sigh, stood up to make sure my voice was heard through the entire table. "I don't know much about this world but here in my mansion at least, this will not do. You will be able to talk in my presence, it is kind of weird having a whole room of people be this quiet. Just act as you normally would, I actually find it more disrespectful that you are not treating me in a normal manner because it makes it seem like I should not be here."

The servents looked at me with tears in their eyes. They were all speaking at the same time but I was able to pick out a few sentences. "Oh thank you, master.", "You are truly the most kind being in history.", "To think that my master is this nice to us, he must have such a big heart."

For the rest of the time, the party was lively and people seemed as if everyone was having a good time.

Mary looked quite pleased, "Everyone was very anxious about what kind of God you will be, not even I could calm their nerves. But you were able to just do it with just a few words. Your charisma is beyond our understanding. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing what I was unable to do."

"No worries, I just wanted mine and everybody else's time here to be as nice as possible."

She looked happy with my answer and we went back to eating. I talked with the people sitting near me, it almost felt like a normal party.

The cleaning crew began taking back all the dishes from the table, they also cleaned the table and the floor during the time it took to take back and clean all the dishes.

When everybody was done with what they needed to do, I stood up and bowed, "Thank you for such a wonderful party, I would have never dreamed of even attending something so grand back when I was alive."

The servants murmured among themselves, "so humble", "I might just fall for him".

I smiled and pretended not to hear them. Mary told me that it was getting quite late and that I needed to be well-rested for training tomorrow.

"Well everyone I'm, sorry but it is time for me to leave. Thank you for such an eventful day."

Mary said that she was going to lead me to my bedroom so I followed her out of the party room. When the doors closed behind me, the servants began cheering my name.

"Well, at least my life is not going to be uneventful."
