Chapter 1 - Chapter One

If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't be here alongside 3 comrades, watching your every move as you waltz among the castle you stole from my clutches. It was meant to be mine, my kingdom of Parfika. Not Raxons, mine. So why are you there, looking oh so satisfied with yourself? Is thievery such a wonderful accomplishment?

A tap upon her shoulder brings Rayana back to her senses. She snapped her head towards its source, her Stygian locks flowing along with her. The hand of a separate woman retracted, a look of discomfort appeared on her face.

"Rayana, it's getting hot out, can we please return to camp?" the woman questioned. This drew out a huff from Rayana, "Jamisette, you are allowed to return if you so desire. Jasper and I shall stay put where we are. Just take Croi.x to accompany you," she waved her gloved hand in the brunette's face, dismissing her as if she was nothing. This startled the human, disrespect from the elven was common in the Landcaster kingdom, especially from the Moon Elves visiting from Eris. Jamisette rose to her feet, stomping back towards the location of the miniscule militia's camp. An automaton followed clunkily behind her.

Rayana now would be alone if it wasn't for the large Dragonborne male beside her. Scales spread across the skin of his face, acting a bit like freckles to the auburn haired man.

He'd be just another ginger dork if it wasn't for his species importance. Not that he himself was important, in the grand scheme of the Dragonborne's hierarchy, Jasper is table scraps. Still, he was quite an impressive fighter, very strong and able bodied despite how stocky he appeared to be. To him, it was probably just some weird permanent baby fat, to Rayana, it was an advantage. More mass means more force. More force makes a better brawler.

Rayana looked back toward the palace windows, but the scarlet satin curtains were drawn, giving them nothing. Rayana tried to remain composed as she stood up, sheathing her sword into the scabbard held beside her hip. Jasper had a bit of trouble getting up, with all the weight he had to carry around being the shape he was. This stopped him from flying as well. Dragonbornes have naturally more hollow bones compared to a human or elf. This was not the case for Jasper, normal human bones, dense ones. He could move the vermillion scaled wings that sprouted from his back, but he wouldn't ever dream of effectively using them.

The Midnight Elf led Jasper to their campsite, taking this as an opportunity to patrol the area around them for any signs of intruders or incoming threats. Their group were known threats among the kingdom of Parfika, and their location was a crucial secret that if revealed, could be deadly. That certainly wouldn't be pleasant.
