Chapter 5 - •4•

/At Greenridge University/

// Approx. 2 hours & 30 mins later //

"Why are you always late?" asks Annika, Luna's long time best friend from since she was in preschool.

Luna puffs air through her nostrils irritated, massaging her temples, "How many times must I explain?" She grits out.

"Marie, yes, I get it." Annika raises her hands in defense.

"Good! Now may we continue to proceed up these stairs?" Luna smiles, fakely, rolling eyes.

"O-kay, jeez! Sorry, your /highness/." The younger says smugly as she swings the duffle bag over her left shoulder and continues to tug the second suitcase up the dorm apartment staircase.

Luna grumbles under her breath, yanking the other one with her.

Eventually, the two erupt into natural conversation as they now transport boxes upon boxes from the car to Luna's dorm room swiftly but surely.

"You know, maybe we should participate in some fun sport together? A lil activity or so?" Annika chips up, lugging the final box alongside Luna, who's strolling beside her and swinging her car keys on her index finger.

She hums.

"That's a good idea actually but...which sport you have in mind, Anni?" she further queries.

"Well, ever wanted to try cheer-leading?" and Luna's already scrunching up her face in disgust.

"Ugh, gag!" She says as they approach her door, "Nooo way, never in a million years." She chuckles, Annika whining desperately.

"Oh come on~ /you/ said that once we make it to college together, we'd do whatever sport /I/ wanted." She recollects, thrusting her finger to the air after she abandons the last box near the couch.

Plopping onto said couch, Luna trills her lips, "You really gonna recite what I said at age fifteen, Anni?"

"If it helps back up my claim, then yes. Yes, indeed." She settles beside the other, clasping her fingers together, "Please! Please! Please-"

"Whoa! Okay! Okay, fine I'll do it with you." She giggles at the other's immediate cheers. "I think?"

"Nuh-uh! You're going /ALL/ in. No ifs, buts, maybes." Annika holds up her pinky, "You have to promise me just for that hesitancy of yours."

Luna rolls her eyes, dramatically, interlacing her pinky finger with the younger's.

"Promise." She sighs as Annika launches onto her happily.

/At The Cafe Near Campus/

"So fellas!" shouts a brunette named Isle at a table with his two friends, coffee cup clutched in his palm, "How was the summer break? Any parties you crashed? Hookups-"

"Goodness, Isle! I thought this semester you were gonna focus on the books." says the Student Body, Hugh, before he sips from his cup.

"Hey, the semester hasn't even /started/ yet. Am I wrong?" Isle nudges the other male silently swishing his cup around as he spaces out. "Solar? Mate? Buddy? /Hello/?"

"Huh? Wh-what?" said male stutters, blinking quickly. Isle gives him a look.

"You okay, Mate?" he asks; concerned.

"Oh, sorry, what'd you say?"

"Never mind." Isle groans, "I just realized I befriended the wrong crowd." he mumbles into his cup.

Hugh scoffs, "No. You're just /horndog/-"

"Excuse~ ME! This horndog gets laid more than you get dates, Sunny-boy!" Isle flaunts, poking his tongue out while Hugh stick his middle finger in his direction as they both begin their almost endless banter.

"Hey-Hey! Guys! Come on, we're in /public/, for Christ's sake." Solar barks, facepalming. Usually, he'd be into having pointless backchat with his buds but he can't help but bear the sudden realization once again for the umpteenth time that he had barely gotten any decent time to hang with his father.

Not to mention this bizarro sensation he's been feeling ever since he approached nearer and nearer to campus about an hour or two ago; and it's been bothering him since, too.

"What's gotten /you/ so pissy, sheesh!" Isle mutters just as Hugh kicks at his shin causing him to muffle an obscenity right before it could sound out in the semi-peaceful cafe. He glares at the other, massaging the area as Solar laughs.

"What's up?" Hugh pokes at the younger. "Everything alright, dude?"

"Yep, just realized I forgot something is all." he smiles. "See? He's fine~ Now kiss my boo-boo." Isle whines, grasping his leg.

"Oh, give it a rest, you damn baby!" Hugh snaps, "Or else I'll /really/ give you something to whine about." he grits his teeth.

Alas, just what Isle vocalized, Solar thinks he really should've found some other people to befriend as the two erupt into more useless quarrel.

And suddenly that's when it happens. That minor yet constant jabbing feeling he'd been witnessing first hand had become more emergent, the hairs at the back of his neck standing at utmost attention as a wave of familiarity washes over.

'/What is this/?' he thinks, eyebrows crumpling together just a tad. '/Could...could it be../?'

Staring out the cafe's glass window, Solar spots the mess of blue hair across the street. A girl minding her business as she chats with her friend, the both of them laughing while the girl runs her hand through the short locks and when they begin to cross the road is only when the feeling gets even stronger. That steady beat now becoming erratic as the short girl draws near and it's only then when he notices a strand of his blond hair rising in a languid motion to the air.

"/Shit/." he mutters under his breath. He needs to get out of here. FAST!

"Hey, uh guys," the other two glances at him, Hugh with his hand yanking at the youngest's hair while Isle has teeth sunk into the meat of the oldest's arm. Solar gazes at them with an unimpressed look, "Wanna get out of here? I should get back to packing anyway."

"Huh? But we haven't gotten to have our proper talk yet~" Isle moans, "No thanks to you!"

"Me?!" Hugh exclaims as he points at himself, offended.

"Isle! Please, I'm just gonna head back to the dorms. I'll text you two later, alright?" Solar breathes, already on his feet and halfway to the door as he disposes of his coffee cup; shuffling quickly out through the cafe's door.

"O-kay, bye?" the brunette says, confused.

"What's up with /him/?" Isle queries to which the other just shrugs.

"Beats me."

====================

//About 5 minutes prior//

Immersed in full conversation, the two childhood friends chat endlessly as the make it down the empty sidewalk. Completely in their own world.

"No way! Dylan really said that?" Luna chuckles, "What a moron."

"I /know/ right! It was so pathetic." Annika rolls her eyes, shaking her head disappointingly. "But nevertheless I, Annika Joyce, am /back/ on the market and will stay right there for a /very/ long time."

"Aww, don't say that, Joy." the blue haired sympathizes, holding her bestie's hand as she runs her other through her hair. Eyeing both sides of the road before they cross, "You /never/ know what could happen. We're in university now. Anything could happen, you might even meet someone."

"Hmm that's true but blah, I'm only a freshman. This is party era." the other laughs while Luna just rolls her eyes. However, all of a sudden, she gets this peculiar feeling. Like a strange thumping within her and it's only been getting sturdier and sturdier since she'd made it through the field to the sidewalk from campus.

"Hey, do you think it's gotten a bit windy all of a sudden?" and just as Annika asks does Luna feel a heavy wave of an unknown feeling crash into her; her hair flying at said wind or...whatever force she's witnessing as someone suddenly collides into her, knocking her to the ground.

Luna gasps, her eyes widening when /something/ passes through her. /Something/ she's never felt before and it's only after a beat when she realizes that she's not seeing clearly, her vision blurring slightly.

'/What's happening/?' her mind screams, trying to grip around to still feel grounded.

"Luna!" Annika gasps, "Hey, you asshole! Watch where you're going, won't 'cha!" she shouts, seething.

Swiftly, the dark-haired girl scrambles to pick her friend up off the concrete and onto her feet, supporting her by the hand and asking numerous questions on if she's okay and what does she need right now like a worried mother hen with her baby chick.

"I'm-I'm okay, I just..." Luna breathes, huffing out a bit of air as she glances at the direction the mysterious guy, who bumped into her, went.

"What...what was that?" she says, her eyebrows scrunching together.
