"Here we are!" Sam announced. Jenny stepped into the room. Inside was a single bed with a desk on the opposite side of the room. A sword stand was in the corner with a door as well leading into the bathroom.
"I left your T-shirt and a book about Astra on your bed," Sam said.
"wow," Jenny turned around, "Thank you."
"No problem girl! I'll leave you to get settled," Sam chirped as she walked out of the room.
"Bye," Jenny called. She closed the door behind her and turned to the book on the bed. "Time for learning," She told herself. Jenny picked up the star-covered book and began reading.
"The mysterious world of Astra, also known as The Giver of Life, has always been a mystery to those born on earth. Great heroes on earth die valiantly and are sent to Astra. It would be considered religion if its valiant angles didn't return from the stars."
Jenny kept reading, "at least 6 months will pass before they return. A person will be found in one of the nine kingdoms, Shiriba, Hallac, Gil, Marl, Fawn, Urolia Empire, Lillian, Lar, or the Jango Dynasty. They will not be recognized by anyone in their region or original hometown. Their only memory will be in a place surrounded by stars. A person dressed in white and different shades of blue will appear. They will tell them who they were previously and what their power is. They'll train them for a while till they are ready to come to earth."
Jenny looked away. She could feel a small beat inside her like a memory was trying to push its way out. Am I really from Astra? Her eyes wandered to her sword. The bloodstains were faint from its wash but were still there. What would a person do to stain their sword with blood?
Jenny didn't want to find out.
She looked down at her hands. The faint silhouette of her scars was on her hands. She didn't know for sure. She wanted to figure out her power more than ever though. Jenny leaned over and grabbed her schedule for the day. A class called Magic Casting was one class away. Maybe that could help her. Before that was Weaponry. "Dang," Jenny said to herself, "Lots of fighting classes." It's just like the battle of Gil and-
Jenny paused. I… Did I remember a battle? Or am I being an idiot? She thought for a second. Whispers of memory floated around her head like fish in a bowl. How did I lose my memory? I couldn't have lost it by falling. If that's the case, then why didn't I forget how to walk; or talk.
Jenny heard the bell ring. Weaponry would be starting soon. She grabbed her sword and headed for the door. She swung it open and dashed outside. She only caught a glimpse of the boy before they ran into each other. Jenny fell onto the wooden floor with a thud, "OW!"
"Sorry!" The boy exclaimed from above, "I didn't see you there!"
"No it was my fault, I was in a rush." Jenny looked up at him. He was wearing a red long-sleeved shirt with a black hood on. His eyes where dark brown and his hair was light brown.
"My name is Max," He reached down and helped her up.
"Nice to meet you," She said as she got to her feet, "By chance, do you know where weaponry is? I'm new here."
"Oh, yes. I'm actually going past it," He said, "I can walk you there if you'd like."
"Yeah, that would be great. Thanks."
"Not a problem Jenny," Max chuckled. He had a hint of a British accent in his voice she hadn't noticed before. "So," Max started, "Where are you from?"
"Oh," Jenny brushed some hair out of her face, "I actually don't know. I somehow lost my memory about a day or two ago."
"Really?" Mac said curiously, "Like, you don't remember Squat?"
"Mmhm," Jenny didn't mention Heartbeat or Electro.
"Wow," Max said out loud.
"It not as fun as it seems," Jenny added, "I don't know who I am, where I'm from, what I've done," Jenny paused, "I'm just…. Here."
"I never said it was fun," Max said, "That's just…."
…..
"That's rough," He finished.
Jenny laughed, "No kidding. Sorry I went all depressed on you."
"Eh, listening is one of my talents," he shrugged.
"Yeah, you're really nice."
Max smiled, "Hey, some friends and I are going to a diner after school today and we have room for one more. Want in?"
"Sure," Jenny grinned.
"Nice," Max pointed to the door on the right, "This is it. I'll find you after school."
"Fine by me," Jenny waved to him, "See you later."
"Bye," He walked away and Jenny walked into the classroom. Little did they know of the dark figure watching them from around the corner.
