Jenny couldn't breathe. The name set her brain in motion.
Tina. Tina Pérez. Shaun's right-hand follower and lifelong friend.
And the one trying to kill her right now.
Jenny's eyes darted to Max who was rising to his feet, "Tina. I should have known Shaun would send you, the worst of his dogs."
Tina turned and glared at Max, "If I'd known you were here I'd have brought more people. Shaun's been very interested in catching you."
"Ha! I'd like to see him try," Max's Khopesh's formed in his hands, "Maybe if he sends better rebels he'd have a chance."
"Well, we don't have time for a toddler trying to stay past his bedtime. We're here for Jenny Micha, so you can continue on your way."
Despite her curiosity about her last name, fear pulled at her heart. Max looked over at Jack who was laying unconscious next to Sam, who despite her arm bent at a horrible angle, was sitting up staring at them. "I thought you guys were trying to avoid harming citizens."
Tina gave him a smug look, "Well, I guess it sucks to suck."
"Enough!" Max charged at Tina. She sidestepped him as he charged. Max spun around and tossed his Khopesh at Tina like a boomerang. She ducked as Max kicked his leg up, hitting her in the chin. She fell to the ground.
The Khopesh flew back into Max's hand as he smiled, "wow. Your right about that last one." His eyes darted to Jenny and then to Sam and Jack. His expression was clear.
Get them out of here.
Tina moved her jaw back and forth, "Oh it's on." She turned on Max and charged him.
Jenny snatched her stylus, sprung up, and dashed to Sam and Jack, "You got to go!" She said quietly to them.
"What is going on?" Sam hissed, "Why is there a gang of rebels after you?!"
"Honestly I have no idea," Jenny replied. She could hear Max grunting as he fought Tina, "Can you move?"
"Yeah," Sam stood up, "It's just dislocated."
"Good."
"HEY!" Tina cried, pointing at Jenny, "Stop them!" Her two friends turned and began to head towards them. Max seemed to want to help them, but his hands were already full. Jenny's mind immediately went to what she learned in Magic Casting. She raised her hand and made a pull between the left guy and the wall. The guy yelped in surprise as he was jerked to the wall and hit it at full force. The other guy looked in surprise for a second before putting his hands together as well. A light red glow emitted from his fingers.
Fire.
Jenny's hands moved on their own. She lifted them up and as the fire charged from his fingers, she felt herself make a pull with a nearby trash can. It flew in front of them, making the fire swirl away from them. The trashcan flew towards the guy, hitting him upside the head. He fell to the ground as the first guy charged again. Suddenly, a purple wall appeared between them. Jenny turned to see Jack standing on his knees, his hand out. Jenny dashed over, "You're ok!"
"Yeah," Jack said straining his voice getting up, "Reunion later. Fight now." He dashed to the wall and kicked it, sending it onto the guy. Sam grabbed Jenny's hand and led her to a different car and shoved her in as Jack jumped in as well. Jenny looked at Max. Tina now had her two metal fans in her hands and was lashing at Max. He ducked and weaved between her strikes. His eyes met Jenny's as he kicked Tina down.
"Get to the G.A.N.D in Gild City! They'll help you!" He spun around as the two other guys got up and started towards the car. He hit one with the back of his Khopesh and hit the other one behind the head, "GO!"
Sam turned the key and the car jolted alive. She pressed the gas and the car darted forward out of the parking lot. Jenny's eyes never left Max. The two guys had knocked his Khopesh's out of Max's hands. He swung his fists, but the guys grabbed his arms and knocked him to his knees. Tina stood behind them, her fans beginning to glow golden. In a flash of gold, they shifted into a spear. Max's eyes were full of fear as she lunged towards him. A golden spearhead appeared from Max's chest. He let out a scream, before falling to the earth.
"NO!" Jenny screamed, causing Sam to swerve from surprise.
"Jenny!" Sam exclaimed, "Don't do that!"
"She stabbed Max!" Jenny exclaimed, "We need to call-"
"What we need to do is get out of here," Jack snapped, "That lady is nuts."
"But Max-"
"Look out!" Jack exclaimed. A giant pillar of ice formed in front of them. Sam swerved out of the way. Jenny turned to look behind them. A pickup truck and was chasing them, Tina and the Ice power were standing up in the back, while another rebel and the Fire power were driving. The Ice power lifted their hands and more ice formed above the car.
"Swerve left!" Jenny exclaimed. Sam swerved just as the ice began to fall. Pieces of ice flew everywhere as they hit the ground, one taking Sam's left-hand mirror. Sam winced, either from her left arm or from the mirror. Jenny couldn't tell.
"Why are they after you?!" Jack exclaimed.
"I think it has to do with the rebellion," Jenny said, "Max said I knew something they didn't want me sharing."
"But your memory-"
"I know!" Jenny interrupted, "Apparently there is a way to get it back."
Jack let out a puff of air, "Well, considering their actions of late, that's not on their top priority."
"Hang on!" Sam exclaimed. She jerked the car to the right into a field, cutting off another car in the opposing lane. The truck followed behind them, hitting the front of the car on their way past. Sam shifted gears and skid the car around. She pushed the gas and they charged at the rebels. The truck kept coming at them, then at the last second, the truck swerved out of the way. Sam drifted the car around them and took off on the road.
"WOW! Where has that been this whole time?!" Jack exclaimed.
"My step-dad is a drift racer," Sam snapped, "You've met him!!"
"Oh right," Jack smiled.
Jenny turned around and froze, "Uhhhhhh.... guys?!"
The truck was keeping up with them in the field, trees separating them. Tina locked her gaze with Jenny as the truck burst through the trees and rammed their car. Sam screamed as the car was jerked to the left. The window Jenny was sitting next to broke and a spear of ice impaled the seat next to her, cutting her seat belt. With another shove, the car was thrown off the road.
Jenny went airborne in the car when the world slowed. Jack's eyes were on Jenny with his hand out. A shield formed around Jenny and the world sped back up. The car hit the ground and rolled, Sam screamed in pain, and Jenny was flung out of the car, the shield protecting her. She hit the ground, knocking the air out of her. A high-pitched sound rang in her head, making her squeeze her eyes shut in pain. She felt the shield fade away, leaving her on the grass. She finally opened her eyes. They were in another field, Jenny on her stomach in a crater from the shield with her stylus next to her hand. The car was on its side a distance away, a large gash in the earth pointing the way they came.
A screech made Jenny spin around, causing a flash of pain in her head. The truck had turned into the field and thundered it way over.
Strait at Jenny and the car.
Jenny felt something burning her hand, and another wave of pain hit her brain. She weakly rose to her feet, grabbed her stylus, and walked towards the charging car.
She felt a fire growing in her chest as the car accelerated at her. She began to trot, then run. She glared at the car and screeched in rage. She pressed her thumb into the star on the stylus. It began to glow blue in her hand. She lept into the air and brought her hand down towards the car.
A blinding light flashed, and the two halves of the car crashed to the side of her. She looked up to find her stylus had extended into a long, blue whip with a rhombus end, with electricity crackling along with it. She turned around to the people getting out of the truck wreck. Tina stood in front of her, in a fighting stance. The ice power was dragging the fire power out of the wreck. The other person whispered into Tina's ear, and Tina turned around and ran away with her gang.
Jenny walked to the wreck and looked into the window. She saw her reflection, a gash was across her cheek. But the most surprising was her eyes.
They were glowing blue.
