Chapter 10 - The memory Keeper-Part I

Cressida's POV:

" Ayvah! Ayvah! Wait, I need to speak to you. Ayvah!" Even after calling after her so many times, she didn't respond. She didn't falter in her steps, let alone give me a proper response, which pissed me off. I followed her to her room only for her to shut the door on my face. How rude!

"Lady, you better beware when you come out from in there! Do you actually believe that you can ignore me? Me? Like seriously! You better open the door now, like I am seriously contemplating knocking it down. Ayvah! Will you-" I was stopped mid-rant by the footsteps of none other than my cute and lovely brother. Note the sarcasm.

"Cressida, calm down. Leave her alone, she had a hectic day. Come on. Have some water." Ok that's it. Like I understand that he wanted me to leave her alone, but he had crossed his limits when he uttered the word water!

"Cohen, how dare you! Ewwww.... Water, seriously? Couldn't you say something like coffee or maybe even juice? And don't look so relieved, I didn't fail to notice that you knew that she had a hectic day, but I didn't! You guys always do it." I raised my voice a tad-bit more and said," Ayvah, you sure are in for a tongue thrashing once you open this door. You just- Cohen do not tickle me, I swear to God I will kill you!"

He had an amused smile on his face which didn't bode well with me, so I did what any sane person would do, I jumped on top of him. And guess what? He didn't even take a step back,in fact he picked me up and carried me across the hallway, only to dump me on the sofa. Annoying hulk!

"Water, Cressida?" The smirk on his face widened as I gave him the middle finger. "Come on shorty, you do know that water has so many benefits," his sing-song voice grated on my nerves as he continued in that annoying voice of his, " Like if you deemed it worthy enough and drank enough of it, I would be spared from your teen drama when you had that pimple, after all it's good for your skin, keeps it hydrated you know." He finished with a dramatic flair, shoving the glass of water nearly to my nose, the smirk never leaving his face.

"Ofcourse brother, you are absolutely correct, after all water is the solution for all of life's problem!" I took the glass from his hand as I continued,"After all it quenches our thirst, keeps us hydrated and if someone annoys us we can simply drown them, right?" I gave a saccharine smile, and before he could process what was happening, I emptied the glass over his head. With a barely muttered oops I tried running from him, but not before laughing at his soaked self first. One has to enjoy these little things.

He was hot on my heels when I came to a sudden stop in front of the window, while he flayed for balance, and finally fell face down in order to prevent himself from colliding into me. I would have laughed at him if not for the sight in front of me.

On Ayvah's insistence, the house had been fitted with sound proof windows all across, so imagine my surprise when I came across the window and noticed the magnificent storm brewing outside while we were trapped in here. On top of that, there was a solar eclipse as well, though how it was so visible despite the heavy sheets of rain pouring from the sky was a wonder.

"Cohen, why wouldn't you tell me about it? You brute, you know how I love rain! Especially when you don't like me getting wet in it and- Are you even listening?" I couldn't help but notice the way his face had turned ashen, concern clearly etched on his brows. Before I could ask anything else, I suddenly started feeling dizzy, black spots were dancing at the edge of my vision. He was trying to ask me something, but it was drowned in what felt like millions of different voicces merged in a cacaphony so loud that I was begging for reprieve in mere moments.

His face was all I saw before giving into the allure of darkness.

I woke up in a cold sweat.

"Are you hurt? Did you bruise yourself? You just collapsed for a minute! Should I call the doctor? Of course I should! Let me get Ayvah first." The worry lines on his face increased with every word he uttered. I would've laughed if he hadn't said a moment.

"A minute? Are you sure Cohen? I mean if it was just for a minute why are you so worried?" But what I really wanted to know was how could it all happen in a moment. I know time warps in unconsciousness, yet it shouldn't have occurred to such an extent, yet I couldn't say the truth. Atleast not now, not until I truly confirmed about everything that happened in that minute.

"You zoned out again, didn't you? Cressida can you stay here alone for a minute or so? I will just call the doctor and be back. I left my phone on the bassinet. I will- I will just be back in a moment." I had never seen him so worried about such a small matter, but there were many things which had changed drastically in the past few years that sometimes I had trouble recognising the myself in the mirror.

Every morning the same thoughts haunted me, but not anymore. Not now when I remembered. Not until I got to the bottom of it all, not until I found the truth.

"No need care bear, I am fine now. Perfectly so if you ask me. You truly want to help me?" I made the best puppy eyes I could before requesting for caramel popcorn. A girl needs what a girl needs! After all I needed the energy for my upcoming cow boy adventure.*Cue some dramatic music*

"And don't forget the brownies." I shouted after him, only for him to turn back and flip me off.

Such love I must say.

The moment he left the room, I closed my eyes, trying to sense the feeling of 'otherness' which I had felt moments before. It took mere moments for me to place the feeling in my mind, to restore the memories associated with it, before the shield curtaining it's presence from mortal senses evaporated, it's rotten smell causing me to curl up my nose in disgust. It seemed that they had yet to learn the meaning of hygiene.

Well, they could be dealt with later, first my caramel popcorn was beckoning me towards itself. I let its mouth watering thought lead the way to the kitchen, just in time to see Cohen scowling at the microwave as if he would crush it, which he obviously could. So like the heroic person I am, I valiantly rushed to its rescue and set the timer. I then motioned him to finally press the start button which according to him had "refused to work until now." That important task being done, and the brownies ordered, I took the popcorn tub to the theatre room and settled comfortably on the couch.

I switched on the television, meaning to stream some good shows like "The Vampire Diaries" when the remote was snatched from my hand, and brutally so I must add! But then the news channel had quite an interesting news, I mean not better than Damon's smile, but you get the idea, right?

"The solar eclipse which shouldn't have been."

How dramatic! All the news channel seemed to be showing the same news, albeit with different head lines ofcourse. Copyright infringement you know.

I noticed Ayvah entering the room, yet I pretended to be lost in the news broadcasting. Must I say my acting was Oscar worthy for she didn't glance my side again.

Apparently the 'solar eclipse' was not natural, scientists all across the world were scrambling to find the cause for the sudden solar eclipse, ensuing panic amongst the general public.

Five minutes into the talk- show came the news that it was a slip up from the space research organisation and that they had failed to calculate the exact time of the eclipse. Of course they did.

I so wanted to let that smirk break out on my face yet I waited and instead let disappointment fill my features, but not before noticing the slight smirk on Ayvah's face and the look exchanged between them.

How cute! I would totally ship them if Cohen wasn't my brother. But now it was just gross. Like guys get a room.

I know, I know what you all are thinking, it was just a smirk but I knew Ayvah and that it was extremely intimate for her to show any emotions, even a slight twitch of her lips unless it served a greater purpose. Such a golden ray of sunshine she was, I must say.

Whatever, it was time for some more of my oh-so awesome acting. Yay!

"Here you are! There was such interesting news being read over the television, but they couldn't even form proper headlines for it. Did you see how boring it was. Even the news turned out to be fake, I mean of course it should have been fake but I was so wishing for something fun. But it seems I have to make do by sco-," the abrupt ringing of her phone cut me off and I was extremely annoyed at whoever was interrupting my performance. Whenever that person would come on front of me I would kill him. It seemed Ayvah had noticed my expression as I was busy glaring at the phone contemplating ways to torture and decapitate the person on the other side for her eyes showed her amusement before it was quickly masked.

Cohen looked stressed as he handed the phone to her. I knew he was worried about me but somehow that wasn't the only cause of his stress for I knew him more than he knew himself. After all I was a minute and forty seconds elder to him. Okay fine, I made up the forty seconds part. But you get the point, right?

She picked up the phone without checking the caller ID, so I knew that it was something important, that they would try to distract me and get me to leave. And, drum rolls please, I was correct as usual!

"Let's go to the book store tomorrow." So this was her master plan. I mean it would have been perfect if it she had tried it on me yesterday, so I let it 'work' on me today as my anger supposedly gave way to excitement.

The slight flick of her hand was barely noticeable but worked perfectly as usual so I let it dictate my moves till I reached my bedroom.

I knew the moment I had disappeared from sight, she had beckoned him to follow her.

Well, well, well, it seemed that the adventure would begin much before I anticipated. Time for some fun.
